Swathi (swathi_jayashree) | 5 comments My friend first recommended this book to me.I decided to give it try as I'm usually into fantasy novels. After I started reading I just couldn't keep it down!I was hooked to this book.I must have read all the books at least 2 times by now and I love them!

message 57: by Natasha (new)

Natasha Sharma (natashaphoenix) I kind of connected with the characters! And definitely, I was connected with the book, the characters and everything from the beginning. There is something about Bella choosing immortality to be together with Edward forever that made me want to have that sort of romance and life as well! And then clumsy, introvert, and imperfect Bella, there are so many romantic books that just make the girl and guy so perfect and beautiful which sucks haha... I can relate to Bella's personality and decision for choosing immortality, because well it is something I would do too, as well my personality is kind of like Bella's; let's say about 60% like her.

Trine Fonvig Smidt | 2 comments I had a step sister who was so addicted so I pretty much knew what was going to happen before I read it.
I saw the film first. it was around the time I started to read. then I found it so cheap I couldnt resist buying it. I wanted to know what the fuzz was about, because the moving didnt amaze me.

then I read it.. and I got hooked! I felt like I had been cheated by all the bad talk about the concept. I could have ended up not reading it? not loving it. no that would have been a shame.

Stephen (havan) | 22 comments I picked up the first volume of Twilight in a thrift store for under $1.00

When I read it I was mesmerized at how it was simultaneously one of the best books and one of the worst books I'd ever read.

The story-line was enthralling and I loved that the narration was from Bella's point of view (I've sometimes thought my inner-child was a gawky bookish teen girl) I loved the plot and enjoyed the characters but thought that prose style was almost painfully awkward in spots. I kept wanting to re-write parts that were just particularly bad writing.

This book convinced me that:
1) I had to read the rest of the series
and
2) I had to start writing again.

If this story could be a best-seller I could write one too. (Unfortunately the story-telling part is tougher for me - I guess I'm more of a born editor than a born storyteller)

Julie Spencer (julielspencer) | 2 comments I rejected Twilight when I first heard about it from a teen daughter of my friend. I don't read vampire stories. When the first movie came out on DVD I rented it so my teen daughter and I could watch it, just because of all the hype. It was stupid and poorly-made, and I loved every second of it. I bought the books. I devoured them in a week, and I've read them at least twenty+ times (at that point I quit counting). When I ran out of Twilight novels, I began to write. Hence I am one of the first New Adult fiction writers (and didn't know that genre existed. Well... it didn't exist, and still is barely recognized). I consider my stories New Adult Clean Contemporary general fiction with a strong Christian undertone and way too much kissing (closed door physical relationships, of course). I credit Twilight for changing my life. It's almost as if my adult life is divided into 'Before Twilight' and 'After Twilight'. My family & friends thinks I'm nuts, the mainstream fiction 'genre writers' who write 'to market' think I'm nuts, but my readers LOVE my stories. Hi, my name is Julie and I'm a Twilight addict. (Yes, I did sit in the theater for 11 hours to watch all five movies on the day Breaking Dawn Part Two was released)

Anna Maria | 7 comments I think it was rather funny how crazy I was for it when I first read the books. I couldn't put it down, I read them all in a week that's how bad it was. But my crazy ness for them has cooled but I still enjoy them nevertheless and was introduced to them because of my cousin who had read them first, and was an even bigger fan than me at the time. I still love the books and movies and enjoy revisiting them every once in a while.

Ruthann | 2 comments I was pleasantly surprised and somehow found myself transported back in time to my high school days many, MANY moons ago.

Milo I believe I can fly...

I felt powerful! JK I felt great though.

message 65: by Luan (new)

Luan (luan_666) | 8 comments Hmm, well the very first time I was sort of bored. But then I gradually began to like the "gray and rainy" feel I got from it. Then I was like "wtf, Edward--look I'm glad you rescued Bella, but you don't just stalk people, man."

And then when I got to Alice I was like "YES!" She was automatically my fave.

Gracie Williams | 4 comments The first time I read twilight it was like stepping into a fairytale

Rayne Burlace (raynethebookworm) | 1 comments My mom made me a deal. She said since i’m only 12 that I have to read all 40 of the BES books for my age group and the one above me. So by the time I could read them i was already so excited and I was immediately addicted and finished the first book in a day. Team Edward!!!

Allietheabsoulebookworm | 1 comments I did not know if I was going to like it but I really love the books now. There some of my favorite still lol

message 69: by Laurena (new)

Laurena Aker | 1 comments I was amazed by how the book pulled me into its world immediately. I read the first book to see if it would be appropriate for my young daughter. I never expected that I would love it so much!

message 70: by Makiyah (new)

Makiyah | 9 comments I was hooked immediately because it was quarantine and I didn't have my phone at the time. Plus, I'd watched the movies and loved them so it was cool. I didn't even know it originated from books until this year.

When I read the first book, I was a hardcore team Edward fan and wanted those two together forever.

message 71: by Ron (new)

Ron | 0 comments I had heard about the books when they first came out but at the time I was too terrified to read them. At the time traditional vampires scared me and all I knew was that it was about vampires so I steered away from them.

That was in 2005.

Then in 2007, my first semester of college I had a friend who was obsessed with it and she kept begging me to read it. I finally caved. Now here I am in my early 30s and just as obsessed as she probably was.

They've become a guilty pleasure and I have no regrets or shame in loving them still.

message 72: by Bree (new)

Bree (breesykes) | 3 comments I was hesitant. I was already in my 20s and I wasn't much of a reader - I didn't read books for leisure at all, only what I was required to read for school or work. Nonetheless, every woman in my office was reading Twilight and they convinced me to give it a try as I had a long flight coming up, which meant I was going to have some time on my hands. I was hooked immediately. I couldn't wait to turn each page and wondered if strangers on the plane could tell. I'd always loved Interview with the Vampire, which was a self-selected book to read in high school for a book report. I'd watched that movie a million times, but Twilight was somehow relatable because it felt more like it could happen in my normal, boring world. The blur between high school drama and vampire romance thoroughly captured my attention and I haven't looked back. I became obsessed, and I am still obsessed. I sit her typing this comment with multiple Twilight items decorating my desk. I've visited Forks. Moreover, I've continued reading for enjoyment all because of the spark that was lit within me from reading Twilight.

message 73: by Ron (new)

Ron | 0 comments I was about 18 when I read it. I had heard all of the hype about it so I knew it was about vampires. That's what turned me away from it initially. Vampires always terrified me. Out of every supernatural being, they were number one on my list. So I stayed away.

My freshman year of college a roommate of a friend wouldn't stop talking about it to the point where she begged me to read the book. I finally caved. The more I read it the less scared I became because it wasn't your traditional vampire story.

People complain and make fun of the fact that these vampires sparkled. That actually worked to my benefit because after reading these vampires, the traditional ones didn't scare me anymore. Instead, I became fascinated with them.

When it came to picking teams, I couldn't pick between Team Edward or Team Jacob. I liked them both, more so the whole werewolf aspect but neither appealed to me. I was always into Bella though, at the time I just didn't realize why. LOL! So in that sense, I was always Team Bella. Not only did I like her but I could relate to her on so many levels.

Giving into these books was one of the best things I ever did. I have always had a multitude of fandoms but none ever lured me in the way Twilight did.

Ron | 0 comments Beret wrote: "What did you feel like when you first read Twilight? Were you immediately addicted, or did it take time. I want to know!"

I was hooked. I avoided the series for about a year because all I knew was that it was about vampires and out of every legendary creature, they terrified me the most.

So when a friend would not stop bugging me about it, I caved and it became one of the best things I ever did. There was so much I loved.

And the plus side was that I stopped being afraid of the traditional ones. LOL!

Maddie I was immediately addicted, and have been since i first read them.
