Hi Kelly, welcome. The key thing is getting seen and reviewed, so being here could be a good start, as could having a FB page dedicted to your book. But there's also a lot of luck, especially as there are so many free books out there.

Like your no nonesense approach: "Witches are real, and to be blunt, they’re all black-hearted, and evil."Definitely leaves the reader in no doubt as to what to expect!

Authors, do you find marketing your books easier or harder than the actual writing of the book?

Amazon KDP Select might be worth considering, but think hard before using the free promotion option. Many people now think that any advantage from free giveaways has been lost due to massive over-saturation.

Jill Sanders (jillmsanders) | 246 comments Hi contemporary romance readers,

To celebrate the release of my second self-published book, Discovering Pride, on January 31st, my first book, Finding Pride, is NOW FREE until then!!!

FINDING PRIDE:
Megan Kimble was traveling a long way to find the next chapter in her life, one that would not include her brother Matt. Losing him now was tragic, even more so since she had finally freed herself from the abuse and the shame of a bad marriage. She'd spent years hiding things from Matt, so he wouldn't know about her horrible life. Keeping her secret world of bruises, cuts, and broken bones, much like the one she now sported with a large white cast.

Dealing with her loss was hard, but, now she was thinking of taking over Matt's new business venture. This could be the fresh start she needed, a new town, a new place to forget the pain and maybe she could learn to trust again.

Todd Jordan was a successful businessman, who had once lost it all, and now he'd just lost his best friend and business partner. But, then she came into town broken and scared, and for the first time in a long time he was looking forward to his future. Breaking down Megan's barriers would take patience and strength, and he would need that strength to keep what he loves safe.

DISCOVERING PRIDE:
Lacey Jordan was a woman who knew what she wanted… and she wanted nothing to do with the new doctor in town. He had the perfect smile, perfectly tan muscles and a way with people. Her people. This was her town, her family, her life, and he’d come in and shaken everything up, including her heart.

Aaron was running away from a hard breakup where more then just his heart had been broken. At this point all he wanted to do was take over his grandfather’s medical practice, and work on his new house, turning it into the first place he could call home. He liked the town of Pride, in fact he’d spent the only good parts of his childhood here. What he hadn’t expected was to bump into a fairy goddess. Bumping hard enough to get a concussion and have his heart mended at the same time.

Then, the town gets a visit that will change their lives forever, if they can survive.

message 4541: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello,

I'm just a reader although at one point as a child i was in the local newspaper for my writing abilities and i used to think i would like to write a story of my life, however i don't think it would be very believable and i probably don't really have the time at this stage of my life. Yet perhaps it's something i could do in my old age! :)

My children show the same passion for reading as i do and my daughter would live in the school library given half a chance :)

Anyway, i hope everyone is having a lovely day.
All the best for now x

Robert Marion (robertdmarion) | 7 comments My name is Robert Marion. I'm a thirty-something computer programmer during the day and a thriller writer whenever else I can find time. I've been writing since I was in elementary school and thought I could write a sequel to my favorite movie at the time, "The Land Before Time". Boy, was that long ago.

I'm married to a fiery redhead. I have a young son that was born 6 weeks premature. You learn a lot about yourself and your spouse when you spend 3 weeks in an NICU.

My latest dip into the indie author world is Danger Close, a military thriller set in Afghanistan. I'm also on Twitter.

Hope to get to know a lot of you here!

Sarah | 1 comments Hey everyone!
My name is Sarah I'm a junior at Ohio State University majoring in Childhood Education with a focus in English. I have been in love with reading since I was little, but I'll admit it was my adventures with Harry Potter that made me truly become an avid reader. I read all kinds of different genres, but I basically always find myself reading within the wonderful world of teen literature. As always though, I am open to suggestions! I hope to learn a lot through this group,so I can't wait to start discussing with you all!! :)
