Sandi Hutcheson (graceadams) | 6 comments Hi, I'm Grace, and I'm the author of Looks Great Naked, which is just over a week old and already a bestseller in its category on Amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Looks-Great-Nak...

The book description:What do a pair of defiant dachshunds have to do with a book on fitness? Everything, if you’re Grace Adams. In the newly-released fictional memoir, Grace Adams has it all under control. True, she can’t order anything through the mail for fear her dachshunds, Laverne and Shirley, will intercept and eat the contents, and she’s still carrying a few extra pounds from the birth of her kindergartener, but the rest of her life – marriage, kids, house, even her tennis game – is picture perfect.

At least it is until the day her mother hands her a diet and exercise book called Look Great Naked and says, “I think your husband’s having an affair.” As the façade begins to crumble, she realizes that looking great naked means having nothing to hide. It’s accepting yourself exactly the way you are -- right here, right now, flaws, wrinkles, knots, bumps, lumps, bad attitude and all.

S.M. Hineline (smhineline) | 15 comments Hi, I'm an avid reader and a fairly new author. I read everything I can get my hands on, but usually stick to fiction, and I love vampire stories...more The Vampire Lestat (The Vampire Chronicles, #2) by Anne Rice than Twilight (Twilight, #1) by Stephenie Meyer though I read that whole series too.

My book Hunting is a new twist on the vampire genre and has an entirely new creation story. Every 500 years a vampire child is born to human parents. The fate of the child will be the fate of the Vampire race, and there are a group of humans who will do anything they can to see that neither survive.

violet (norasact) | 1 comments Hi All & Happy New Year
I'm new to Goodreads and I just joined this group to meet more authors like me. I am the author of the No More Dating Pigs-You Are What You Date book series. I worked with agents and publishers for about a year and a half before I made the decision to self-publish my book. So far no real complaints with self-publishing. It's not as glamorous as being signed with Penguin (who I worked with for a year until they decided "No") My book is for women and I've gotten many good reviews. Gayle King endorsed my book after having me on her show and my book has become quite popular for single women. I believe in my book and know that there's good stuff in it that women need to read before getting out there in the dating market. Please contact me for complimentary copy for reader review. You can learn more about my book at: www.norahmarler.com

Alan Hardy | 2 comments Hi

I'm a UK writer. At the moment my novel GABRIELLA is out and available.

I'm a director of an English language school for foreign students. Married, with one daughter. Poetry pamphlets: Wasted Leaves, 1996; I Went With Her, 2007. I've had poems published in such magazines as Orbis, Iota, The Interpreter's House, Poetry Nottingham, Poetry Salzburg Review, Poetry Cornwall, and others. I have now written five novels. I would describe them as surreal novels exploring the nature of relationships, romantic and sexual, and Britain's class-system, with liberal use of comedy and satire, creating original and riveting settings full of humour, romance, sex and adventure.

Hobbies? Travelling (a bit), walking (a bit), watching TV (a bit), lazing around (quite a lot)...

I am excited to be part of this group. As a writer, I am always looking for new ways to connect with other writers and readers.

My book is a coming of age fairytale, perfect for those upper middle grade/lower YA, or tweens. A spunkier take on those Disney princess types.

Robin Donovan | 6 comments I am Robin Leemann Donovan. My first book: Is It Still Murder Even If She Was a Bitch? is the first in the Donna Leigh Mystery series. The second: I Didn't Kill Her But That May Have Been Short Sighted is currently being edited and I'm almost halfway through writing the third: I Don't Know Why They Killed Him He Wasn't Really That Annoying. I love the writing and the speaking engagements - but selling books is much harder than I expected. I've just started appearing at book club meetings - that's been as much fun as doing process talks and readings! If you have any secrets to selling books - please share!

I love to read murder mysteries, among other things.

Thanks for asking Vincent!

Fiona Ross (fionafaithross) Hi Vincent and group,

This group is a great idea. Thanks for starting it. I only recently joined goodreads and I love it. I've been an avid reader all my life and dabbled with fiction writing but three years ago I got down to some serious writing. I have two books on the go. Strangely, the second book got finished before the first one. I like futuristic/sf & fantasy themes to write and I'll read pretty much anything, but you're welcome to check out my bookshelves. Here's my book. It's free on smashwords. Message me for the coupon code.

Sarah Norkus | 7 comments Hi fellow readers and writers,

It is a honor to be part of this group. I have been reading books since I was five, but didn't start writing until after my children were grown. I was 48 when I first put nervous fingers to the keyboard. Now I love to write and weave stories that take the reader from the ordinary of our world and into the extraordinary of mine. The first book in my trilogy, The Secret Diary of Sarah Chamberlain, is out and has been well received. Battersea's Secret Treasure and The Witch's Mark will follow. (if the publisher allows me to keep those titles) I have enjoyed reading all of your posts.

Nadine May (nadinemay) | 24 comments Hello my name is Nadine may. I'm from South Africa. Its really great to have a Visionary fiction group on Goodreads, because again with the free 5 day kindle download of my first novel: The Awakening Clan, I had to register the book under 'Romance'. There was no other option that would be closer. I've often use the words fantasy, or paranormal, but both those genres do not really fit well either. I really hope that many authors and readers will support our Visionary Fiction group on linkedin many of us feel that this genre is more and more in demand..
If anyone does not really know what VF genre stands for, please read on..please
read on...

What did you like best about this book?
Columbus Avenue Boys is a fascinating story of Italian immigrants, their families, and their connection to crime and how they escaped its hold on them. Several things attracted me. The history and how these people fit into it held my interest throughout the book. And then the individual stories also were well done. It is called 'historical fiction," but one can't help wondering how much is true because of the characters that were taken out of real life and added to the novel. This interesting book gives the reader a chance to be entertained while learning things of historical interest.

Audrey This is the first Goodreads group I've joined, though I have been a Goodreads author (and user) for more than a year. My novel, "Dance of Souls has languished after its initial launch for lack of marketing. In the meantime, I've gotten back into short story writing in a big way and have been submitting like mad for the last few months. I'm now on a quest to find where readers of literary fiction hang out so I can begin paving the way for both Dance of Souls and the novel I'm currently working on.

I look forward to meeting fellow authors!

J.D. (Thunderhorse) | 7 comments Hi Merry and Christine. I am J.D. Langston. I am a writer, with my first book now published. I think I have found what God intended for me to do all along. I am starting on a pre-sequel to 'Iniquitous Connections: The Dark' which is about a family after WWII who suffer the consequences of the father's return from the war with the then unknown condition of PTSD. It is a harrowing story. I think you would laugh, cry, be aghast, and pleased throughout the saga of this family's struggles, with the youngest daughter having multiple personalities. It's gripping.
I need friends her too, Merry, I am inviting you to be my friend. I am just learning how to negotiate my way around here. Iniquitous Connections: : The Dark http://www.iniquitousconnections.com

Neil Benson | 4 comments Neil Benson | 4 comments Hi, my name is Neil. My partner and I live in northern Georgia, about 30 miles north of Atlanta. I've always been interested in fantasy, vampires, and the paranormal.

I started writing short stories over a decade ago, and through a series of inexplicable circumstances ended up writing a vampire novel. I did get it published, but learned many things of which I had not been aware. I became good friends with a former Special Forces soldier and wondered if I could combine fantasy with the harshest reality. I recently completed a draft of a novella about a 26-year-old female wizard who works for The Department of Homeland Security fighting terrorists and terrorist wizards.

I am seeking other fantasy/paranormal writers and readers to get critique and feedback on my novella, and I would of course provide a critique of their novella or novel. Please contact me if you're interested.

My name is Rachael and I am a new author. I haven't published yet, but I'm trying to make connections, learn things about the business of publishing, how not to be a troll - don't like trolls; they smell generally and are quite hairy - and just try to learn to be a better author. Looking at many different things on how to market your book is just as daunting as writing one. So I'm open to suggestions, conversations, and just anything you've got that may help :)

Peggy, there are many new authors on these boards looking for reviews. I'm in need of reviews for my debut novel but don't like to shove it down people's throats, especially where I'm uncertain what type of books they enjoy reading. Maybe you could let us know so that if you are inundated with review requests, at least they should be for books you might enjoy.

Judith Sanders (judithasanders) | 5 comments Nice to hear from you. I will look to add one or more of yours to my reading list. Where do you suggest I start? My latest novel "In His Stead" is my second, a fiction story of a father's love for his family in modern-day wartime; inspired by current events. My first "Crescent Veil" had a great premise but I was too naive in that one and don't recommend starting there until I release the second significantly edited version with my co-author later this year or early next year.

Thanks Neil. For "In His Stead" I too had a few very good sources to ensure the accuracy of my military scenes. I like fantasy (as in princesses and alternative universes) and enjoyed Twilight series but am not a gore kind of reader in general. Catherine Parr | 2 comments Hi, my name is Catherine Parr and I live in the Languedoc-Roussillon region in France. I love this area and it inspired me when I wrote my first novel, "Clouds over the Montagne Noire." It's the story of Alex and Lynne Stevens who move to France after a tragedy in their lives, and it also involves a lot about the wine industry here, and village life. It's a combination of romantic fiction, drama and there's a love story in there too. I love writing (always trying to improve!) and I'm currently working on a second novel which I hope to finish around April. When I'm not writing I'm usually reading, and my favourite authors are Jane Austen, Maisie Moscow, Barbara Vine (especially her novel "A Dark Adapted Eye) and Arthur Hailey. These are the ones that spring to mind immediately but there are lots of others too numerous to list. If you read my novel then I really hope you will enjoy it. I have a website at http://www.catherineparrauthor.webs.com where there is a forum for any comments. I would love to hear from any other authors, especially anyone who lives in this part of France.
