Tom Lyons (tomlyons-author) | 12 comments MD,
Your latest reply to me.
All great advice, thank you!
Though I am a new author I have been writing for almost 40 years. Not new to the craft.
I follow your advice about a scene, get in late, get out early - well said.
Though my finished work should be ... Approx. 125k words ... Not one word will be unnecessary. Each word will tell.
Each word in the book will have been written, rewritten, and edited, by the qualified village many, many times.
Who are you?
You seem to know what you are talking about.
Tom

Jeri A Estes (httpwwwgoodreadscomjeriestes) | 11 comments Here are John Goodman’s encouraging words of wisdom to me: “Stilettos and Steel is not a niche “gay” project. It’s not a coming out story; it’s not pee-pee’s bumping in the night. Guess who’s coming to dinner? A Dyke! This story is high concept which exposes a piece of history never told before. You reveal a sub-culture within a sub-culture, that’s edgy, sexy and honest. In Hollywood that’s pure gold.

E.D. Brady (edbrady) | 29 comments Hello, everyone! My name is E. D. Brady, but I prefer to be called Babs (E. D. is a pen name).
I wrote two novels in a series, five years ago, sent query letters to every agent on Planet Earth, got more rejections than I care to think about, and then put both books on the back burner for a few years (my kiddies were little then). At the beginning of 2012, I thought of another story to add to my series, and now have 'The Vistira Trilogy' which I just recently published on Amazon.
Thank you for this opportunity to meet other authors like myself.

Glenn Cheney (glenncheney) | 19 comments Hey, Happy New Year, everybody! May the months bring you many hours for books, and many books for your hours.

I am looking for more reviews of several of my books. I worked so hard to write them (unbelievably hard - even I'm amazed to see me work that hard), and now I just want people to know about them. The reviews I've gotten have generally been pretty good. (see the ones for "Thanksgiving: The Pilgrims' First Year in America")

So I've set up a little website where Goodreads readers can get my books at my cost plus a dollar for shipping. All I ask is that anyone who buys a book there write a review for Goodreads.

The webpage is http://cheneybooks.com/reviewers .

The books there are about the Pilgrims, Abraham Lincoln, Swaziland, a novel about a dude named Frankenstein, Chernobyl, and an old road in Brazil. And a collection of stories.

Thanks again for your interest in my books. I hope they bring you some contentment in this new year we have ahead of us.

Sincerely,

Glenn Alan Cheney
Hanover, Conn.

I'm MR, answering also to Margaret, Rose, Scottish and Polish variations on either of those, or QEIL (which stands for 'qui est in literis,' one of my screen handles). I am a native Texan teaching classical and ecclesiastical Latin to students who do not necessarily want to learn it.
I'm a rabid reader with an appreciation for most any kind of literature and a special appetite for Holmesian pastiche, gothic mystery and horror, urban fantasy, and ethnology.
I write as broadly as I read, though all of my current publications fall under the fantasy genre.

Hi Sandra,

I agree. I don't like the new trend of "finish it off in another book" Happy endings are great. I only write happy endings, and LOVE series books that tells stories of the other characters.

If you are looking for something new, check my book(s) at http://www.prideseries.com.

Grady Owens (baphijmm) | 4 comments Hello! My name is Grady. I do write when I can, mostly fantasy and sci-fi, but I also love to read. (How can you write if you don't enjoy reading?) I also love to learn, so many of my most recent queue have been non-fiction or textbooks. Singing, acting, sewing... Really, if it involves being creative in any fashion, I've probably done it and would love to do it again! My favorite sport is bowling. I enjoy quite a bit of power metal, and in fact a lot of my more recent inspiration has come from that genre of music.

So yes, greetings!

Nadine May (nadinemay) | 24 comments Hi to you all. my name is Nadine May and I'm an published author of 6 books. I joined Goodreads in March last year, but it took me some time to master the website. I tried at the beginning to join as an Goodreeds author, but I obviously did not take the correct steps? I will never know. I've tried again last week, but so far I still have not been successful. I still hope that I get my page changed to an author page, so I can advertise my book promotions. My first novel The Awakening Clan will be offered for a FREE download for kindle users from January 15th to January 19th 2013.
