E.j. Kay (ejkay) | 2 comments Hello everyone, great to find this group and what a good idea to connect up authors and readers! I'm new to writing fiction and am finding it really exciting. I love the whole process of writing, and I'm finding the process of publishing both bewildering and a real education :-) Some of the best parts are the new networks I've joined and people I've met through them.

Juilene Osborne-McKnight | 4 comments Hi Folks: My name is Juilene Osborne-McKnight. I'm a professor of Celtic and Native American literature and mythology and Creative Writing and I've published four novels with MacMillan: I am of Irelaunde, Daughter of Ireland, Bright Sword of Ireland and Song of Ireland. I might have introduced myself, or thought I introduced myself, prior to this intro, but I got several requests asking me to introduce myself, so that introduction might have been fiction!! Glad to be here among the book believers.

Liza O'Connor (goodreadscomliza_oconnor) | 33 comments I'm Liza O'Connor, Gremlin Slayer (that's my latest title and since I claimed it, the gremlins have been making my life hell.)

I live in Denville, NJ with my dog, Jess. We hike in fabulous woods every day, rain or shine, sleet or snow. Having an adventurous nature, I learned to fly small cessnas in NJ, hang-glide in New Zealand, kayak in Pennsylvania, ski in New York, scuba dive with great white sharks in Australia, dig up dinosaur bones in Montana, sky dive in Indiana, and raft a class four river in Tasmania. I’m an avid gardener, amateur photographer, and dabbler in watercolors and graphic arts. Yet through my entire life, my first love has and always will be writing novels. I love to create interesting characters, set them loose, and scribe what happens.

My debut book, Saving Casey, recently came out.

among others. I write contemporary, scifi/fantasy erotic romance and BDSM.

I think having the male perspective would be interesting. A male who can write his feelings...most interesting.

It tells me you aren't intimidated by rules such as 'keep the title short' :) I love rebellious people.
It sounds like a delightful book with a nice mix of humor and serious topics. I am completely intrigued.

I just checked out your book. It sounds fabulous. Oddly, my book is about an 80 yr old woman who is always chiding God for not downloading some critical life lessons at birth. Instead its the old people who barely move who have all the life learnings. Evidently, God didn't care for the lectures because when she dies, she inexplicably wakes up in to body of a 17 yr old troubled teen who has tattooed her face so she looks like a ghoul. Turning Casey's life around is so much harder than she expected.

She would have applauded your book. But just so you know, hormones, parental neglect, burnt bridges of the past were kicking her life lessons to the curb.

I wish you the best of luck on your book. While mine is entertainment, yours sounds like entertainment and good advice.

Malik Reaves (malik_reaves) Hi there. I'm Malik Stan Reaves. I've just written and published my first novel as an ebook, Beyond Southern Africa, A Story of The Fight for Freedom. It grew out of my experiences with the international effort to free Africa of its last white-minority regimes. I was trained as a journalist so it took years to learn how to write a novel and I'm glad I finally pulled it off. I hope to get to know a lot of you and get your reactions to my book.

Hi Vincent. Thank you for the opportunity. My name is Frances Clark and I love to write and that's why I don't have much time for reading but I am trying to improve on that. I like sci-fi fantasy and have written a series of novels about an off-world alien telepathic time traveller. Drake's really okay once you get to know him and you can do that by taking a peek at Nigma, the first book in the Drake's Progress series. I live in Queensland Australia with my husband and pets. Thanks Liza. Just to show I have some discipline, there are other crazy adventures I left out of the subtitle but pop up in the book – drummer in a bagpipe band, part-time golf greenskeeper, shark wrangler...

Your book concept is high on the creative, intriguing scale!

Welcome all new members!

I've decided to put my landscape photographs to use by putting them on the group's masthead photo. (This is a neat option that Goodreads created for groups.)

This first one is called "November Sunset." I shot it on 11/18/12.

I will update them from time to time.

Emily (ehodson92) Hello everyone!! My name is Emily Hodson and I am 20 from Anchorage, Alaska. I have been writing since the age of five and am currently going to school to be a Journalist, then mastering in Creative Writing. My ultimate goal is to become a well-known successful author, but we all know that is competitive.
I'm working on a trilogy right now. My first one is out and published, available on online bookstores and the second one is still being edited.

I can not afford a $14,000 editor and am far too embarrassed to send my work out to big time publishers. Though my first book, Pretty Unlikely has been edited by me for 5 years and other educated people and friends, I still think more eyes and reviews on this book would be best.

I am offering my book for free through an emailed PDF for an honest review after the read. I would appreciate as much critics as possible to make me as an author grow stronger and adjust to the audience's needs before I go diving into getting an agent or publisher.

Here is a link to my GoodReads book, Pretty Unlikely, the first book to the trilogy I self-published and the one I want reviewed.

Robyn Jones (robgirlbooks) | 16 comments Hi, my name is Robyn Jones. I'm a writer, well these days I feel more like a cranky editor. I spent a year writing like a crazy person, now I'm facing the task of actually learning how to write. When I'm not asking my search engine how to do this or that or explain to me lie and lay one more time, I'm doing the mom thing. In between, I read as much as I can.

I'm pushing for a December release of my first ebook Soul Walker. I just started a blog and it has the first three book covers posted. http://robgirlbooks.blogspot.com/ Stop by and take a look, leave a comment, share your take.

Welcome to the writing world, Robyn! Best writing lesson I ever gave myself was to take a writer I admired and study a page of writing - over and over. And I picked up several important points that writing courses and such seem to overlook. Avoid the words: then, and, while, as, was, were, 'ing' words (unless at beginning of sentence). Sound complicated? Take any piece of your writing and rework to lose these words if they're there. Your writing will look sharper and cleaner.
Best of luck, Malla Duncan

Thanks for the tips. Passive voice, telling, not showing, too much too soon, these issues are going to take time to overcome.

Nel Ashley | 1 comments Hello everyone, I'm Nel. I recently self published my debut novel Blackfeather which was shortlisted for the Festival of Romance New Talent Award (it's a very recent thing and I'm still so shocked by getting that far that I must keep mentioning to everyone I meet).

I describe myself as a writer of paranormal romance, mystery and mythological fiction because I like to include legends, myths, folklore and paranormal elements in my writing.

I'm currently doing NaNoWriMo and have already reached the target. My story is a Young Adult romance based on the phantom of the opera. I hope to publish it early next year soon followed by Immortal, the sequel to Blackfeather.

I have so many stories in my head that I don't think I'll live long enough to write them all, but I'm going to give it a good try.

Looking forward to meeting you all.
