A.K. Hill (akhill) | 7 comments Hello everyone,

I am A.K. Hill, author of A Mediocre Man. I have quite an eclectic taste in books, both reading and writing them. Anything from modern fiction short stories through to epic fantasy novels.

I have been lucky enough recently to get some time away from the hustle and bustle of the world to concentrate on my writing. Turning the scraps of stories I have scribbled down over the years into something more substantial.

I have recently self published my first book, a modern fiction novella charting the death of an ordinary man, set against the backdrop of a world obsessed with gossip and rumour.

So far it has received positive reviews, but I do need to make some grammatical amendments that have sadly been missed. In the meantime I am working hard on my next two novellas, one a sci-fi story in a near future setting; the other a fantasy story that forms part of a mythological world that has been growing in my head since I was a boy.

Thanks for reading.

Pushpam Singh (pushpamsingh) | 18 comments Dear all

My first novel "Shades of Shadows" is published and is out in book stores.

Summary of my book-

Every soul has a shadow. Every shadow has a shade. Every shade has a unique spirit. It is the beginning of life on earth. Life sprouts in the navel of Kausar, a land blessed with beautiful contours and landscapes. As life opens its eyes in the backdrop of silence and darkness, beauty wrapped in mysterious silk sings for it. On such a changing canvas of Nature, Kavi meets Kavya. Love finds a new flavor in their romance and Kausar finds a new array in their presence. But with change in the mood of time, the melody of shades undergo a change. Will these melodies sustain the test of time..? Join Kavi and Kavya on this poetic and intriguing journey to find out more…"
I have used 50 poems to showcase various emotions of Kavi and Kavya.

You can read more about the book on www.pushpamsingh.com

You can buy the book directly from FLIPKART - http://www.flipkart.com/shades-shadow...

you can read sample chapter on http://pushpamsingh.com/download.html

Looking forward to hear soon from you all.

Keith Nixon | 3 comments Hi
I'm a new author, well new to having a book (The Fix) out. I've been writing for quite some time, usually historical fiction or comedy screenplays but I wanted to turn my hand to crime. However The Fix is also a dark comedy, more on my author and amazon pages.
Anyway I'm looking forward to connecting with other authors, I love to read and I'm always on the lookout for recommendations.
Cheers
Keith

Len Vlahos (lenhouse) Greetings GoodReads Authors and Readers Group. My name is Len Vlahos and I have a YA novel (really a "New Adult" novel) coming out from Egmont USA in winter 2014. I'm here to see what other people are reading and writing, to discuss the craft of writing, and really, just to explore GoodReads from the point of view of a writer. (I've been here as a reader for years, and love the site. Check out my reviews and give me some good recommendations!) I look forward to getting to know you...

Chad Mitchell (chadrmitchell) | 1 comments I was always a reader... I read books long past the time I was supposed to be asleep, as early as I awoke, and at times I wondered if I would be able to ever read enough.
Thankfully, I never did satiate my desire. Each new day brought with it new books to read and to enjoy.
Today I am still a reader. But I also write. I attempt to take all that I have read and add to the imaginations that have given us such great art to enjoy. I hope that my fair offering entices others to read, write, and let their own imagination soar...
Here is my book.
Thanks for your time!

Maryann (maryannwrites) | 50 comments Hi all, I'm so pleased to find another group that connects readers and writers. Of course, we who write are some of the most avid readers. (smile)I have a number of books published under my own name, the most recent being Stalking Season, the second book in the Seasons Series featuring two women homicide detectives in Dallas.

I like to read mystery and suspense, but I also read in a lot of other genres, as well as mainstream fiction. If I'm not reading a book, I read the comics in the newspaper. Great entertainment there.

Look forward to getting to know folks here. I try to be social as much as possible as it it great fun to play around on the Internet and visit friends, but I do need to sometimes knuckle down to write.

All best, MaryannStalking Season

Vasileios Kalampakas (stoneforger) | 9 comments Hello, my name is Vasileios Kalampakas and I'm a self published author. I also suck at talking about it.

I've got three novels out, two are scifi/fantasy and one is a historical espionage/mystery/thriller, you name it. There are also some scifi stories, and I've just released the first book in a series of fantasy novellas. I'm working on some a sequel and a new scifi novel as well.

I suck at promoting my work (didn't I already mention that?), so the best way to get an idea is to read something. There's free stuff of mine lying about at Amazon, Smashwords and all the places it retails to (like B&N, iTunes etc.).

This is what I've written so far:

Forge Of Stones by Vasileios Kalampakas Forge Of Stones
Bobby on a stick by Vasileios Kalampakas Bobby on a stick
On the riverside of promise by Vasileios Kalampakas On the riverside of promise
Of Man, Sun and Stars by Vasileios Kalampakas Of Man, Sun and Stars
Argo by Vasileios Kalampakas Argo
Party of Five by Vasileios Kalampakas Party of Five

Hope you like some of it!

If you have a question, or just want a free copy to review, I'll be glad to hear from at kalampakas@stoneforger.com , or you could just visit http://www.stoneforger.com and get the FB links, the twitter, and so on. Party of Five by Vasileios Kalampakas

message 3996: by Sara (new)

Sara Barton (sarambarton) | 17 comments I'm Sara M. Barton, author, artist, educator.

I'm a big believer in the power of books. When a story is really good, it can raise you out of your world and send you on a journey. Laughter is good for the soul. Sometimes, so is pain. When we hover over the shoulder of a character and see the world through his or her eyes, we're collecting new wisdom to help us meet our own challenges in life. Fictional heroes can inspire us to do more and be more when we see them struggle and persevere. Even better when they can laugh at themselves or get creative with problem-solving.

As much as I love movies and TV, there is nothing as intimate and personal as a book. If the author draws us in, we become a part of the story. We're co-creators. The author gives a description of a character, a scene, an event -- we, as readers, take that information and put our own mark on it. The "mind's eye" is a powerful thing.

Peter B Forster (peterbforster) | 20 comments My name is Peter B. Forster. I am a husband, father, psychologist and author. I have published Mr Charalambus and The One Soul on Amazon and e-book. It is a cross over genre book. Fantasy/romantic adventure and is aimed at anyone who remains young at heart. It is the first in a series of three stories. It involves a spiritual quest and a tale of redemption. Is Charalambus the Devil? What are Wolf-Dragons? Who are the One Soul’s and what are they? Is God a gardener? I could do with a few good reviews. The book is getting a lot of hits and a few reviews would hopefully impact on sales. I would like to become more involved in reviewing other books and author interviews. Look forward to hearing from you all. Regards Peter
