Janet | 12 comments Please forgive me if this is a duplicate post. I keep hitting some crazy combination of keys that navigates me away from the page and I don't know if it's posting my comments or not. So....I'll try one more time. (Have mercy on the fat-fingered, techno-challenged.)

Vincent, what a wonderful idea! Since I'm both a writer and an avid reader, this group seems custom made for me.

My name is Janet Bettag and I am the author of Normal, which is a narrative nonfiction account of my experiences surviving and recovering from a ruptured cerebral aneurysm. A sizeable portion of the proceeds from this book are being donated to The Brain Aneurysm Foundation to help fund patient support and research.

Normal by Janet Bettag

However, my true writing love is fiction and my current WIP is a ghostly novel with the working title MESSAGES FROM UNCLE MYRL. My goal is to have the first draft finalized by November and get the manuscript edited and polished in time for release by summer 2013.

There is also a series in the works that will be based on the lives of a rather unusual group of writers. I've also written some short stories, magazine articles, and essays. I was recently approached by a publisher to be a monthly contributor to a trade magazine that's scheduled to launch January 2013.

I read most genres and write reviews when time permits. Among my favorites are mysteries, true crime, and suspense. I especially love reading paranormal fiction and nonfiction.

Kristene Perron (kristeneperron) | 1 comments Hi there everyone! Kristene Perron here - recovering professional stunt woman, pathological nomad, lover of cats, writer.

www.warpworld.ca that's my baby, co-written with Joshua Simpson. He's a Texan, I try not to hold that against him.

I write spec fiction but I read all genres. I currently live in Nelson, BC, Canada, which has some kind of weird author-magnet buried beneath the ground or something because...they're everywhere.

Also, I appreciate bad jokes. (And frequently tell them).

Kristene

Alex South (alexsouth) | 31 comments Hi everyone. :)

I'm a writer. Here are the links if you want to find out more!

Seven Stories High Dolphins and Bananas

I live in Manchester with eight other people - spread over two adjacent houses. I play the piano and sing. I'm a very chilled out, easy going guy.

I am here to promote my work, but also to chat to other readers and writers and just have a bit of fun. :).

Any tips on good threads to hang out in and chat about whatever?

Vic Heaney (vic_heaney) | 17 comments Hello, I am Vic Heaney. All the proceeds from my books go direct to pancreatic cancer research.

Last year I published "Vic's Big Walk from SW France to NW England". This year I published "Living In The Real Cyprus". Both in paperback and as e-books on all the major platforms.

I also write short stories as entries to the monthly competitions in Writers' News. So far I have been short-listed 6 times, darn it!

Good to be here.

Lilith Darville (lilithdarville) | 8 comments Greetings - my name is Lilith, and I am and do a lot of things; including write, which is top of my list after family, friends and reading. I've spent years doing commercial and freelance writing, including textbooks, handbooks, manuals, magazine reviewer and articles.

A few years ago, I started a coming-of-age novel that morphed into an erotic romance called "Scorpiio Awakens" that I started posting online in February 2011. I finished the novel and tucked it away for posterity. With the new erotic romance frenzy started by Fifty Shades, my writing group suggested that I dust it off and revisit it, so I did. I posted a number of chapters on the blog and got raving reviews, so I decided and after consultation with a couple of successful author friends (they make a good living from their writing), I decided to self-publish. You can find a few chapters her on Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/story/show/3... or on my blog www.lilithdarville.com. I'd love to hear your feedback if you check it out.

I'm eagerly waiting for the cover art, which I hope to see this week, and finishing final edits suggested by my editor and beta readers. This is a thoroughly different world than educational publishing, and I'm enjoying the ride.

So, I'm a wife, mother, friend, writer, reader, golfer, musician, and much more. I love well and am well loved. I am truly blessed.

I'd love it if you poke me on Twitter or Facebook. I look forward to learning more about you!

LJ Thomas (southcarolinagetslit) | 4 comments Hello,

My name is LaRosa Thomas, but I go by LJ. I have 4 published books. However, my "baby" is my last book, published by AMB publishing Publications called Bad Nerves: All about MS and stuff. This is a book on multiple sclerosis written from a layman's point of view. In addition, there is a glossary, interviews and resources. It is easy to read and understand and available on Amazon.

I am also a publisher and am looking to expand the roster. I publish, fiction, non-fiction, poetry and short stories and can offer distribution to traditional locations.

I am also a reader and just completed A Destiny Ordained By God by Lakeshia Ramsey. I have so many more to read!

Thomas Smith | 37 comments Hi I'm Tom. My partner Darrell and I have just published a book called "Which One Am I?" about his life growing up with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). We expanded a lot from there, writing about his family and his search for his real father. The book also traces the history of DID and the public's perception of it during his life.

I'm taking moments from promoting the first book to research a book tentatively called "Whatever Happened to the Gifted Kids?" The topic interested me because, as a gifted student myself, I sometimes found myself, just like Darrell, on the outside of society.

I'm a Brit, living in Thailand. I've written books in several genres, and in some that don't exist - yet. The first book in my Sherlock Holmes pastiche series comes out in pb in December (MX Publishing) and I aim to self-publish a coming-of-age comedy Penny for the Guy Mr Olivier on Nov 5th, if all goes well.
My favourite author is Patrick O'Brian, after the Bard, and I love Frasier.
Best wishes,
Mike

Alicia (alicialong) | 1 comments Fellow Readers!! I am so excited to be a part of this group. My name is Alicia Long and I recently published my very first novel 'Capitol Hell'.

'Capitol Hell' tells the story of recent college graduate Allison Amundson, a small town girl from South Dakota, who lands the highly sought after job of scheduler to the newly-elected and rising star of the United States Senate, Senator Anders McDermott III. While she thinks she is on the fast track to success, she quickly learns that crazy co-workers, a high maintenance boss, an over-the-top family, and an unexpected Presidential bid make Capitol Hill seem even more dysfunctional than portrayed on TV. In fact, it is 'Capitol Hell'.

I hope you will check it out and let me know what your think!! Here's to laughter this Election Season!! Capitol Hell
