Linda (ladylawyer8650) | 101 comments I love to read and review. I like historical fiction, mysteries, thrillers, biographies. In general fiction I liked Memoirs of a GeishaThe Help[book:Water for Elephants.
I have reviewed for several really good authors. Some are well known while others are just starting their writing careers. Look at my books that I have read and reviewed on Goodreads, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords and Amazon. I think this is a wonderful program, especially for wives whose husbands have put said wives on a strict book budget. (I knew I should not have spent that $100.00 in one day at B&N.)

The books I mentioned were: THE HELP;MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA; and WATER FOR ELEPHANTS. I don't know why the books were not printed correctly in the initial message, but it was my fault.

David Perlmutter (davidpperlmutter) | 15 comments My name is David P Perlmutter and I have a story to tell based on true events. There are moments in the story that I'm not proud of but also there are some that I am. You will have your own opinion of me, like some of the reviewers have stated in their reviews. Thank you for reading my book.

Outline of story:

After successfully negotiating another property deal in London, I meet a friend to celebrate but due to my own reckless stupidity events that night took a wrong turn and I end up losing everything I had worked so hard for. A month or two later I head for Marbella, Spain with its promise of adventure and fun. Little do I know that I’m about to be thrust into the most terrifying time of my life. Wrong Place Wrong Time is a gripping true-life story of an unimaginable nightmare and how my ticket to a new life turns out to be a one way ticket to hell.

Reviews from America:

5* WRONG PLACE WRONG TIME is the first book written by David Perlmutter and what a fantastic story he has to tell.

The biography is of a young successful man who had it all, and lost it all by making one careless mistake. This error in judgement caused a chain reaction of errors that took David on a roller-coaster of misfortunes and plain, bad luck. The book certainly fits the title. We've all been at the wrong place and wrong time. David has been there numerous times.

This story is well-written and gripping to the end. I applaud the author for telling his story. It's a quick read that you will want to finish in one setting just because it's that captivating.

Highly recommended. Brilliant story sir.

RJ Parker
True Crime Author/Publicist

5* David P Perlmutter claims he is not an author. This is his first piece of writing. He was encouraged to get it out of his system by those who love him. This should give you a clue as to the intensity of the story.

I disagree with David's perception of himself as a writer. Wrong Place Wrong Time is written beautifully. It is a heartfelt and amazing story of courage and stamina. I'm not sure how many people would be able to live through this and then write about it.
Mary Crocco

5* I am a fan of biography, autobiography, true crime & fact based literature. This book had elements of all these genres & it read like a thriller. David's style of writing makes you feel like he is just a friend telling a story but just when you are thinking you are going to get a nice coming-of-age story, beer & women get involved, and then the plot begins to twist! This is a edge of your seat, can't put it down PERFECT read. I am a reader and a thinker & this one kept me doing both. Every once and awhile you read a book where you just want to find the author & buy him a drink but in this case... that could be dangerous. Do not for a moment think this is a 'man's book'. ANYONE who likes a great read will enjoy this one...the girls in the book club can't put it down, my 80 year old dad loved it & any 20-something on the verge of traveling should read this cautionary tale! Well done!

5* Firstly the cover caught my attention, then the title and the statement, True Story. Having read the first 3 chapters the story became a fast paced tale & kept me gripped until the end. The guy who's story it is about did act stupidly initially but then you warm to him, especially when he risked his own life, saving others. I will not give too much away but this book may not be for everyone but I enjoyed it very much!

5* A Thrilling, Gripping True Story

I don't normally read true stories but this one grabbed my attention & kept me hooked the entire way through. We all make mistakes in our lives, but for Dave his mistakes will never be forgotten. His mistakes also led to acts of Heroism which most of us could never dream of achieving. This is an incredible, honest account of one man's journey which changed his life forever. The book is written in a fast-paced & gripping style that is so real that you will feel your heart beating just like Dave's. Wrong Place Wrong Time

Tarl | 3 comments Hello, readers and writers. I am Tarl Telford, author of The Hidden History of Oz, Book One: The Witch Queens.
What happened prior to Dorothy's arrival in the Emerald City? Who is Glinda, really? How did a self-proclaimed humbug win over the people so completely that they built the Emerald City for him? How did he make such powerful enemies? What, exactly did L. Frank Baum mean by adding a backstory about Gayelette, Quelala, and the Ruby Palace in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz? How does that even fit?
I wondered these things, too. As I delved deeper into the history of Oz, hinted at, but never explored, in the canonical works by Baum, I discovered a hidden history of adventure, heroics, and epic betrayal. While I applaud Baum's desires to write, "...a modernized fairy tale, in which wonderment and joy are retained and the heartaches and nightmares are left out...", I am left to wonder why all of this darker history was hidden beneath whimsy for more than 100 years.
The Hidden History of Oz, Book One: The Witch Queens begins, "Glinda was one day destined to become Glinda the Good, the most powerful soceress in all of the Land of Oz, but today - with her sixteenth birthday still several weeks away, and her parents doing what parents naturally do - Glinda wanted no part of being good."

Julie, I have done both -- i self-published Miracle Dogs of Portugal and have been pursuing an agent for the next book in the series. I've sold a reasonable number of the first book - and published as an e-book, set up school visits, etc. pursuing an agent takes a lot of time, so if you believe in your book and ability to sell, I'd say self-publish. If you'd like to have the backing of a well-known publisher, then agent is the way to go, but be prepared to be patient.

Justin (JGravity) | 1 comments Greetings Round Table Community,

My name is J Gravity. I'm a 28 year young man residing in the peaceful state of South Carolina, USA. As a avid reader I recently decided that I would dedicate myself to more works of my own. I still spend a great deal of time reading, but most of my free time has been devoted to overcoming my struggles of writing and character building.

My imagination is vibrant and detailed, but between my mind and my pen details are lost in translation. Coming to Goodreads was purely by mistake and more so finding this community. Now, I feel like this accidental resource is a gift from a greater power. The support I have found here is staggering.

(I further apologize for my inability to stay on topic, I was gifted with Asperger Syndrome and you regular folks my have a difficult time digesting me without the aid of my editor and best friend.)

P.S. This must be a VERY large Round table for all of you to be sitting at it.

A.J. Wiliams (AJWiliams) | 10 comments Hello, my name is Ashlynn or better known as AJ. My first book Oracle's End is in the editing process and I hope to have it out before the end of the year.

I love writing. I started out in poetry as a kid for an outlet to aggression, depression and bullies that any young girl faces. As I found my poetry was turning into stories I stayed with it.

I took a hitaus from writing for a while to get my head back on and I love where I am at. I have over 20 stories started that are just waiting for the stars to align for them to be finished.

Oracle's End I can truly say is my baby. These characters came into my head and would not leave me alone. It had to be told. Along with their story I found myself delving into the unknown of what if with government and military break down. It was interesting to say the least. I can't wait for this book to get out.

It’s classified on Amazon as "Men's Adventure", which I affectionately term “DudeLit.” I’m extremely proud of the book, and it’s received rave reviews, but I confess - it has been difficult to market.

Last week, I published my 2nd novel, Creator Class, which I hope will find traction in the YA / SciFi genres. ARC readers have loved it, and now I’m seeking real readers and reviewers. Been aggressively pounding the pavement outside of Goodreads, and have several reviews lined up. Here’s the link if you’d like to take a peek.

I'm new to the group. My name is Nancy Wood; my first novel, a mystery, was published in May 2012 by Solstice Publishing. It's called Due Date. Check it out on Goodreads.

I've always loved to read mysteries and thrillers. And I love learning about the author behind the books. To that end, I started an author interview blog on my website, where I interview mystery/thriller/crime fiction authors, asking everyone the same questions. I'm lining up interviews for the late November/December time frame. Anyone interested? See the Author Interview blog on my website: http://nancywood-books.com. Contact me here or there!

I'm also working on a similar interview format for fans of the genre. I'll keep you posted.

Cheers,
Nancy
