Kim Flowers | 10 comments I'm Kim and I've been writing since I was a kid! I'm still pretty new here, and I think this site is amazing. I do have my first book out now, a Young Adult novel that is being billed by my publisher as lesbian romance, but that I prefer to think of as epic adventure too! ;-)

Gabriel Rheaume My name's Gabriel Rheaume,I'm 30 years old and from Detroit, Michigan. I self published a novel called The Shores We Walk and it's based on a true story about love, life, suicide, addiction, and faith. It was inspired by friends of mine that have all passed away too early in their lives, and so I wanted to tell their stomry.

message 3568: by Olga (new)

Olga Godim (olgagodim) Hi. I'm Olga Godim. I write fiction, mostly fantasy, but I have one mainstream novel too. I don't have a novel published yet, but more than a dozen of my short stories appeared in small magazines in the last few years. I also work as a journalist for a local weekly.

Curran | 12 comments Hi all. My name is Curran Geist. I am a student at Hunter College in NYC getting my Master's degree to be a teacher. Between my studies, I spend my time pursuing my dream of being a published writer. A few months ago, I self published my first novel called The Sity. It's mix of different genres, such as science fiction, horror, and fantasy.

your novel sounds really interesting! good luck! it takes alot of courage to write a true story about something very personal like addiction and suicide.

message 3575: by Richard (new)

Richard Sutton (richardsutton) | 198 comments Let me try this again. My name is Richard Sutton and I write. (wait for the "we're glad to meet you, Richard.." to die down)

I left college in 1970, to pursue really important work of protesting the war in VietNam, planting trees and herding goats in my spare time. Left all that behind and hitch-hiked to New York City and never looked back.

My career in advertising copy writing and design began seriously in 1974. In 1985, my wife and I founded a business trading in American Indian handmade crafts and fine arts, which helped with the cash-flow. We had a bricks and mortar store until 2007 when it all went online. Two novels followed in 2009 and 2010. They are historical fantasy set in Ireland: The Red Gate and The Gatekeepers. My last release was a sci-fi novella this August.

My strongest influences have been L. Frank Baum and J.R.R. Tolkien, oh and John Irving, Charles Dickens, George Orwell, and on and on and on. I pick guitar and read when I'm not pounding the keyboard. My books are on Goodreads, but I'm not the Richard Sutton who writes about Cars or surgical procedures. I look forward to any discussion that springs up here!

T.J. Forrester | 6 comments The best thing my parents ever did for me was take away the television when I was grounded. I fell in love with reading at a young age and have never stopped. On Oct. 2, Simon & Schuster is pubbing my second novel, Black Heart on the Appalachian Trail.

I look forward to interacting with all of you.

Best,

G. (grefuture) | 36 comments Here is a desperate post from a lost author who simply wants to chase his dream.

This site is awesome, and reading about everyone has been cool. However, I guess I am lost...I know I have a great book, but no readers...I guess I am seeking some advice all...

message 3586: by Richard (new)

Richard Sutton (richardsutton) | 198 comments G -- we're all lost in between being found, then lost again, etc. Is your book completed? What genre do you write in?

message 3587: by Anne (new)

Anne My name is Anne Stalker (I get a lot of crap for my last name, so I've heard it all). I don't write. Wish I did.

I've won several books through first reads and most of my favorites so far have been by goodreads authors. Some of them have been by first time published authors.

This is a great site to find all the right books. I like to read just about anything. Most favorite is Legal Thrillers, Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Dystopian, and Stephen King/Dean Koontz type horror/mystery.

message 3588: by G. (new)

G. (grefuture) | 36 comments Richard...book is completed as well as up on Smashwords, Kindle, Nook, etc. It is best described as an action/adventure piece, with some humor sprinkled in.....been out since 9/2...

Stephanie Schroeder (stephanie_schroeder) | 3 comments Hi, I’m a freelance journalist with my first book just out - a memoir, “Beautiful Wreck: Sex, Lie & Suicide.” (See more about it here, including press I’ve received: http://www.beautifulwreck.com).

I’m already working on my next book, which is not a sequel as many people have asked about, but an appreciation of a late friend who was a well-respected illustrator, writer and man-about-town.

I love connecting with other readers and other authors here on goodreads, though it’s sometimes hard to keep up ...

I'm from the Space Coast! I live in NC now, but I'm a FL girl at heart. :o)

message 3594: by Jennings (new)

Jennings Wright | 47 comments OK, people - please forgive me if I've done this already. I seem to have a mental block here on Goodreads. It would be great if there was somewhere I could find my own posts, to know if I'm repeating myself or not! ANYWAY... I'm a new author, with two books published and a 3rd coming next month.

Solomon's Throne is a treasure hunt/thriller featuring Rei and Gideon Quinn. The sequel is coming out in October (The Hoard of the Doges). It's currently in the Kindle KDP Select program so only available for Kindle and in print.

Undaunted Love is a Christian historical romance set in the South in the Civil War. It's got war, romance, mystery... something for everyone.

My website is www.jenningswright.com and my blog is www.jenningswright.wordpress.com. The blog is about writing - writing process, editing, voice, NaNoWriMo, and anything else that comes to mind.

Thanks!

message 3595: by Stuart (new)

Stuart Edmond | 33 comments Hi Jennings,

Solomon's Throne sounds awesome. I'd love to read and review it. If you're interested in doing a review swap, I've published my first crime/thriller Blood And Water, available through Kindle, Smashwords and print (through createspace). Message me if this sounds like something you'd like to do.

Cheers, Stuart

Christopher Bunn | 32 comments Hi, I'm Christopher Bunn. I'm a California farmkid, born and bred, and I still live and work on the family farm (yeah, there still are such things). I'm a writer, but I confess that I love reading books more than writing them. I'm also a total pie-baking addict. We bake pies on our farm for our customers, and there's nothing better than putting together a gorgeous, latticed, strawberry-rhubarb pie, hot and piping right out of the oven.
Anyway, that's me: books, pies, farming, oh, and a little composing too.

message 3597: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Rains DeBusk (sandrarainsd) | 15 comments I also want pie!

message 3598: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Bunn | 32 comments Boy, oh boy, do we bake pies... good old traditional apple pies (with regular crust topping or a crunchy, buttery crumble crust that'll put your heart into afib), blueberry pies, ollalieberry pies (like a big blackberry), strawberry-rhubarb, gooey pecan, apple-strawberry...

Plus, we're just rolling out two new flavors: a caramel apple pie and also a savory tomato pie. We grow tons of heirlooms, so this one is a hot layered pie of heirloom tomatoes, cheeses, and fresh basil with a golden egg-wash crust on top. It's pretty amazing.

Okay, I'm done torturing you.

message 3599: by Jennings (new)

Jennings Wright | 47 comments Christopher wrote: "Hi, I'm Christopher Bunn. I'm a California farmkid, born and bred, and I still live and work on the family farm (yeah, there still are such things). I'm a writer, but I confess that I love reading ..."

Yep, pie craving here, too! I really only make apple as far as fruit pies, but being a good Floridian, I make a killer key lime pie. But your pie list is just... cruel.

message 3600: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Bunn | 32 comments Key lime? You know, that is one pie I've never been able to pull off. There must be some native Floridian secret to it.

To be honest, Alexis, even though I love writing, there's something much more satisfying and primal in baking a pie and then watching people enjoy it. Maybe it's the immediacy of the act?
