Marian (marian16rox) | 1 comments Hi! I'm Marian, 24.

I'm a nurse, beach bum, shutterbug, non-profit volunteer, and part-time documenter. I love to travel, watch movies, swim, and (obviously) read books. I enjoy being outdoors. I'm an ex-vegetarian. I eat fish and seafood now. My Kindle & my Sony eReader are my lifelines.

I write reports and documentation, but I'd rather be writing chick lit. NaNoWriMo!

Scarlett Rose (scarlett_rose_celtic_and_more) | 2 comments My name is Scarlett Rose and I wrote two quilting books, Celtic Style Floral Applique and Baskets: Celtic Style, back in the 1990s. My career has been teaching and lecturing about quilting, with my specialty being Celtic applique (Celtic knotwork designs hand or machine sewn with bias tape that I make using all kinds of fabrics). My website is www.scarlettrose.com

Since I've been drawing Celtic knotwork for over 30 years now, I've decided to self-publish a design book of my Celtic knotwork for artists and craftspeople. This new book will combine my lifelong hobby of writing fantasy stories with my designing of Celtic knotwork.

All the Celtic designs will be tied to the short story that I've written especially for this book. The story explains the meaning of these Celtic designs.

It's been very exciting working on this new project and I'm thrilled to be going in a new direction with my work. I'd never imagined before this year that I'd be able to combine my love of fantasy with my art in this fashion!

Lee Landes | 13 comments Brenna and the Horses of Lusayana by Lee Landes

Hi everyone, I'm Lee Landes

I brought out my first novel Brenna and the Horses of Lusayana at the end of July as an e book on Amazon and Smashwords. It's a 9-12 fantasy adventure book.

Take a look at the giveaways post to find out more about it.

I'm now hard at work (well not very hard at work but I should be)on a YA sci-fi novel.

By the way, I've loved finding Goodreads - I always meant to keep a record of everything I've read but never got round to it. I haven't had time to really build my library yet because I read too fast and back the books go to the library before I've written the titles down. However, come the winter days, I'll definitely do some serious reviewing and cataloging.

Sara (sarashrieves) | 15 comments Hello everyone! My name is Sara Shrieves and I am a newly self-published author of a book called "Who is Audrey Wickersham?"

I am an insane lover of books (a mega Stephen King fan, I have a tattoo from the fifth book in The Dark Tower series on my right wrist lol), movies and I have just recently gotten into gaming due to the persistence of my husband (who games, ha ha). But I don't let that take away from my reading time.

I am very happy to be here and to "meet" you all! :)

Jennings Wright | 47 comments Hi all -
I'm Jennings, from NC.My first indie book was published in July. It's a thriller/treasure hunt called Solomon's Throne, with a present day and a 1680s storyline, and follows the Portuguese spice route. My second indie novel will be coming out in the next several days - a Christian historical romance set in the South in the Civil War, called Undaunted Love. And then the sequel to Solomon's Throne, called The Hoard of the Doges, will be coming out in Oct. And then I rest awhile! (I really thought I'd posted this in here yesterday, but I don't see it, so forgive the repeat if it shows up twice!)

I'm currently writing a YA dystopian low fantasy, and wrote a dystopian screenplay in April where I killed off over 99% of the world's population. :o)

Great to be here! You can see my covers at www.jenningswright.com and my blog at http://jenningswright.wordpress.com

Mickie Sherwood (louisiana_lady) | 18 comments Hi, all,

I'm Mickie Sherwood. I create sweet-to-sensual relationship-based mainstream, contemporary romance. I'm a cruise-loving, people-watching, picture-snapping baby-boomer. Life is a blast! So, life is always a central character in my love stories.

I have four novels available starring Louisiana Ladies: Louisiana Hot Sauce (2010), Nicked Hearts (2011), BayouBabe99er (2012) and Cutie and the Cowboy Trucker (September 12, 2012 - now available to pre-order). Like Slow Sweet Molasses is tentatively scheduled for release December 2012.

I have two blogs I update regularly. "Mickie's Mutterings" http://www.mickiesherwood.com/blog is where I share some of the things I love. For example, you'll find my recipes with pictures and humorous stories from my experiences. Because of the difficulty of finding a niche to promo the kind of romance I write, I created "Blurbs in Bloom" http://www.blurbsinbloom.com to give authors who write sweet-to-sensual mainstream romance a place to showcase their work.

I'm happy to have found this group.

Jacquee Kahn (girlfriend911) | 5 comments Hi Vincent,

Thanks for the opportunity! Let me introduce myself. I'm a relationship and dating expert/coach and I've written a book called, Girlfriend 911 to help all the women out there with their dating and relationships issues.

I do have a question about posting in the forum for free e-books. If I have a free e-book promotion going on, am I allowed to post in that forum only once? Or can I post each day that the book is free?

Also, I want to make sure that I post in the right place so could you send me the correct link to post for a free ebook that is non-fiction topic: dating and relationship advice.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Jacquee,

You may post your book in the bulletin board folder, and in the genre(s) that best applies for your book.

But please only post it once, not everyday that it's free.

Marissa Marchan | 11 comments Hello everyone: My name is Marissa Marchan, author of a new recently published Children's book, A Boy Named Ray. I am a Child Support case manager, wife, mother of two and grandmother of three, based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
I published my first book, A Marriage Made in Heaven and Hell, in 2003. After I released that book, I was invited by my publisher to attend the Book Expo in Los Angeles, CA. It was very exciting and even though I was very shy, I managed to meet a lot of people. When I returned back to Las Vegas after the event, I thought I was on top of the world. I thought everything was perfect. UNTIL, I learned that my nephew passed away. It took me a long time to recover from that UNTIL another tragedy happened. My sister, my nephew’s mother, passed away exactly one year after him. My family and I believed that she died of a broken heart. I was devastated. Since they were the last two people who read my book, I decided to bury it as well just like I decided to stop writing. If it wasn’t for my eight year old grandson, Ray, who inspired me and gave me the idea for the story on my second book, I don’t think I would be able to recover and back writing again. I learned with all the things that happened to me that we just need that someone special to inspire us to get back on our feet again and face the world with a smile.

Chris Hennessy (chrishennessy) | 2 comments Hi everyone.

I have almost finished my first novel, it’s a science fiction book that I plan on self publishing.

I’m trying something a bit different to hopefully get recognised before it’s published, by serialising it on YouTube. So it will be free for anyone to read.

With any luck this will lead to some sales much later on.

This is my YouTube channel if you wanted to see how I’m doing it.

Thanks.

Its actually bigger than some small towns. For instance, Hawthorne, NV where I lived the first few years of my life is a tiny little place.

Corinna Parr (corinnaparr) | 2 comments Hello, group! I'm still figuring this Goodreads thing out (I know, I know, I've been a member long enough but I'm a master of procrastination) but I finally remembered I needed to introduce myself here.

I am an avid reader but since January I've also been an Indie author, putting out my own eBooks; wonder of wonders, I've had an incredible response in spite of my general laziness towards self-marketing. For the most part I write erotica, both sweet and dark, with the occasional foray into fantasy (urban and classic fairy/folk tale) and poetry. I've been writing for a long, long time but only took the leap into publication this year.

It's nice to see a group that brings authors and readers together, and I'm glad to be a part of it. Looking forward to getting to know you all. :)

David Carraturo (davidcarraturo) | 3 comments Hello everyone, I am a self-published author of two hisotrical/alternate fiction books. This is my expensive hobby, but I love to write and educate readers along the way. My second novel, "Columbus Avenue Boys" has received some very good press (Honorable Mention Hollywood Book Festival, Editors Choice from iUniverse Review Board, a recommended review from Kirkus) and my first novel "Cameron Nation" is my conservative manifesto and has been very well received by readers and bloggers and is a informative and timely read going into the election in November. US historical fiction is my passion, especially World War Two, the Mafia and the babyboomer years.

I have been writing a novel series for over nine years, and I am also an avid reader with a particular love for the classics. Glad to be here! よろしくお願いします!

message 3491: by Stan (last edited Sep 11, 2012 07:26PM) (new)

Stan Hayes (stanhayes) | 4 comments WELCOME TO THE WILD WORLD of Jack Mason! I'm Stan Hayes, author of the 2-book (so far) Jack Mason Saga. After tempting fate as a lifelong motorcyclist, Navy Hurricane Hunter, Ph.D. candidate, advertising executive and owner of a high-tech public relations firm, I'm writing the Saga to celebrate surviving thus far...

What's in it for you when you join the Saga? Well, an arousing spectrum of sex, for one thing. Let's assume that you like provocative entertainment, and enjoy trying to imagine humanity's far future. You'll love seeing post-human Jack, a wealthy investor in cutting-edge technologies, take the form of a massless force field in the year 4231. First he saves Jesus from crucifixion, then returns, over millennia, to his own boyhood. He's the son of Serena Mason, a sculptor who, sick of wartime Los Alamos, abandons her husband, a Manhattan Project physicist, taking Jack on a long bus ride to her small Georgia hometown. On the trip, time-traveler Jack appears to his boyhood self as a tiny hawk, greeting him telepathically. By the time they reach Georgia, the boy/bird bonding is firm, giving young Jack welcome support as he begins a life far different from the New York of his early childhood. Serena, meanwhile, adjusts to her new life as manager of her father's hotel.

The loneliness of Jack's fatherless childhood is relieved by the arrival of Moses Kubielski, a onetime German spy who quickly becomes Serena's lover, and in time both her father's business partner and Jack's boyhood mentor. On a trip to New York in 1952, Moses introduces Jack to Linda Green, his former lover's daughter, who promptly seduces 16-year-old Jack, beginning a long and fateful affair. Later, Moses' reunion with a KGB agent leads to a faked-death plot involving both Linda and Jack, including a will making young Jack both a multimillionaire and an accessory to fraud. In 1959, the plotters reunite in Miami after Moses' and Linda's escape from Castro's Cuba. They're soon off and running again, head-on into the JFK assassination and sharing UFO with Jesus...

What could possibly top that? With luck, the Saga's next book, ANGELS FOUR FIVE!

Lore Angeles (lydeangeles) | 3 comments Hi Anna. Sure. I write screenplays as well as books. There's a lot to it though. Book and screenplay are very different mediums. Screenplay is all "show don't tell." Start out by reading a couple of books: "Save the Cat," by Blake Sneider and "Story," by Robert McKee. You'll need the appropriate software (I recommend Final Draft, it's xy but the best) but Celtx is free. This is a really long discussion! Am I wasting time here or is anyone interested? Ly.
