Ivy Butler (ivybutler) | 2 comments Hey, guys. I'm Ivy. *curtsies* I've always been an avid reader, but more so in the last few years when I discovered YA and realised that it has all the depth and suspense of adult books, but with none of the boring bits! ;)

I'm about to start writing something of my own, which is thrilling and terrifying, all at once, so wish me well. I can usually be found on twitter (@writeivywrite) so if you're ever around those parts, please say hello!

Paula Paul | 5 comments Hello, my name is Paula Paul. I've published 25 novels, some with major NY publishers and some with small presses. My latest is Sins of the Empres, a novel of Catherine the Great.I've never self published, but I'm thinking about trying it. It seems daunting, and I'll welcome any advice. I'm also trying to figure out how to post a giveaway of my novel Crazy Quilt for October. That's breast cancer awareness month, and I give one third of my royalties from that book to cancer research. I hope I get that set up soon.

Tom (tomgething) Hi everyone,
I'm a Goodreads author and reader. I recently published my first novel, Under a False Flag, about the 1973 coup in Chile. I tried to make it historically accurate but I don't quite feel comfortable calling it a historical novel since it takes place in living memory. For more info, you can find the book here:

Just jopined the group and I'm having a scout round as there appears to be some good stuff on here.

I've been writing a few years, mainly for fun, but have turned out a number of books in a series, 9 of them to date, which are available to Kindle.

I've ended up writing a series using the same charactters and write what I enjoy reading - action adventure.

I look forward to trawling through the forum and chatting to some of you.

Kathryn Donovan-Freeman | 15 comments Hi All! My name is Kathryn Donovan-Freeman. I am so thrilled to have found this group! Spending summers at our cabin in the Adirondack mountains in NY with my Grandma Zeta (an avid reader), introduced me to the joys of reading...I simply love to read. Wish I had the gift of writing, but very content with enjoying others gifts for it. Happy to add new "friends" here on Goodreads so feel free to add me...I LOVE recommendations for new books..new authors..old books that you loved... Happy to be a member of this group!

I am a little old fashioned I guess because I like to actually prefer real books (treasures) to my kindle. I use my kindle when I run out paper books to read.

I also got several people here on Goodreads kindly listing that they were going to read the novel the very next day. So if anybody here downloaded and actually has possession of my book, THANKS AGAIN!

message 3435: by Cory (new)

Cory Pedersen (corypedersen) | 1 comments Hello all,

My name's Cory. I'm quite new to Goodreads and am enjoying exploring and finding my way around the site.

I recently wrote and self-published my first book, Shawn Buckner's Outdoor Adventures: Spring Turkey Chronicles, Volume One.

The book is set in the Whitewater Wildlife Management Area of southeastern Minnesota and follows fourteen-year-old Shawn Buckner as he embarks on a quest for his first wild turkey with a bow. From chance, up-close encounters with coyotes, rattlesnakes and plenty of wild turkeys, the book is jam-packed with fast-moving hunting action and subtle undertones of responsible and ethical hunting techniques for readers of all ages.

And in celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day on Sept. 22, for the entire month of September, the digital edition of the book will be available for $0.99 (regularly $2.99) and the paperback will be available for $5.95 (regularly $7.95).

For more information, check out Shawn Buckner's Outdoor Adventures: Spring Turkey Chronicles. The book is also part of a Goodreads Giveaway right now (through Sept. 7) so if it sounds like something you're interested in reading, feel free to go ahead and enter for your chance to win one of the five copies I'm giving away this month.

Thanks for your time, and I'm looking forward to hopefully getting to know more of you soon!

Best,
Cory

message 3436: by Vanna (new)

Vanna B. (vannab) | 7 comments Hello group! I'm Vanna, an urban fiction author from Philadelphia. I self-published my first book Fancy in May and am looking forward to completing the sequel soon! Check out the cinematic trailer and three-chapter excerpt at http://www.VannaBOnline.com/books.

Fancy synopsis:
Maribel “Fancy” Alvarez is a trendy socialite who has it all: enviable looks, popularity and a closet full of designer threads. She lives an amazing life. At least that's what she's led everyone to believe. Fancy goes to great lengths to keep up a façade of perfection, but when a series of unfortunate events rattles her world, everything begins to fall apart.

She's always been taught to use what she's got to get what she wants but deep down inside Fancy knows there is truly more to her than just a beautiful face and perfect body. Will she abandon the superficial lifestyle she's come to know or succumb to the temptation of the almighty dollar?

Fancy chronicles the life of a woman torn between the person she is and the person she wants to be. This iconic story will resonate with readers who, like Fancy, have battled issues within, as well as outside influences, while struggling to find themselves amidst a world of chaos.

Tim Prasil (timprasil) Hello from Oklahoma!

I'm Tim Prasil. I teach English on the college/university-level, and my specialty is in American Literature of the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Not surprisingly, that's when I've set a series of "occult detective" stories I'm writing. I noticed that occult detectives from this period are are exclusively British and almost always male.

That's why I invented an American woman named Vera Van Slyke, who investigates ghostly phenomenon along with her assistant, Lucille Parsell.

If you're interested, visit the Snazzy Downloads pages of my blog at http://timprasil.wordpress.com/ . I'm posting one short story a month to generate interest in future projects featuring Vera.

Jack Pavuk (jackpavuk) | 11 comments Hi, I'm Jack, a retired Air Force pilot (among other post military activities). I just realized my life long ambition to write a novel (just for the hell of it). Currently involved in its self-publishing (which I find somewhat daunting). I'm still active enough that I don't read as much as I'd like... I play banjo in a Band and still work part time to keep the juices flowing.
I would be interested in the experiences of others in the group as to the marketing of their books. My book is a fictional novel of political intrigue that is scheduled for release around 15 Sep. It is titled FACTITIOUS, and you can get further info about the book (and me) on the book website www.factitiousbook.com
I look forward to getting involved with this group.

Jim (jimsnowden) I'm Jim Snowden, author of Dismantle the Sun which Booktrope Press just released. I've been writing fiction for the last twenty years. I started DTS ten years and eleven months ago and am relieved that its journey to publication is finally at an end.

I also run a small publishing company. We're putting out our second collection of short stories, Blood Promises and Other Commitments in November.

When not doing this, I tutor children and adults in English, history, and occasionally mathematics up to trigonometry. I also, with my colleague Larry Dahlke, riff movies now and then.

Debbie McClure | 7 comments Hello all, and thank you to Vincent for this great group. My name is Debbie McClure, and I'm an author/writer and avid reader of paranormal and contemporary romance novels. My first book, In The Spirit Of Love, is slated for release in the Fall of 2012 - yep, just around the corner. I've been working with my epublisher, Echelon Press, to get this ready to rock and roll for the past several months. Right now I'm heavily into the final edits, getting ramped up and excited for the release.

In The Spirit Of Love is a paranormal romance about Claire, young woman who travels to England on vacation with a friend. While staying at a beautiful Kent Estate, she meets, then falls in love with the resident ghost. Lord Richard Abbottsford has waited almost a century and a half for the return of his love, and on seeing Claire, is convinced she has finally returned to him. Accused of a murder he didn't commit, Richard is determined to set the record straight and find a way to move into the hereafter. What neither of them counted on, was re-igniting a love that had never died. But there's no hope in loving a ghost - is there?

Please feel free to check out my website and blog at: http://www.damcclure.com/.

I look forward to getting to know you all.
