Joanna Gawn (lazuliportals) Hi all, a newbie here - to this Group, if not to Goodreads. ;-)

I'm an English author writing (with my best friend) as The Lazuli Portals. Our first novel, The Cordello Quest, was published in January, and we're now working on the sequel, Mosaic of Light. We have a poll running until 5 August, allowing readers to choose one of our new characters' names. The winner will be acknowledged in Mosaic of Light. :-)

We also write short stories and flash fiction, and maintain a blog and newsletter (more on our website.)

We love hearing from readers and other authors, so please do stop by if you have a moment. :-)

Matthew Akers | 40 comments My name is Matthew. My life was pretty bland until I picked the short straw. There was a pedophile serial killer preying on young girls in Kosovo. I had to search his bedroom. It was beyond disturbing. I wrote about it in "Son Of Adam."

Randy Martin (rhmartin) | 7 comments I'm really new at all this and have a hermit attitude that is constantly battling for solitude amidst attempts to get known as an author. My name is Randy H. Martin and I have one published novel in a Scifi series titled Introrse. The first book 'Where the Spirits Speak' is available and can be had used for less than five $. The first printing was a mess of typos due to a lack of diligence on the publishers part however the second printing has been edited.

If anyone would like an interview and would do a review (a few are listed on Amazon) I would be very grateful.

Best of luck to you all.

Welcome - I'm pretty new here, and enjoying meeting so many new authors. Your books sound interesting! I'll check them out. I'm an avid reader, too, although I haven't participated in the "100 books" or other type things. I usually have one going on audio-book in my car, one on my Kindle, a different one on my iPhone Kindle app (for waiting in lines!), and maybe even a 4th on my iPad or else a "real" book. :o) Books make me very happy!

D.M. Dutcher | 14 comments Hello, my name is D.M. Dutcher. I decided to follow my dream and have started writing middle-grade and young adult books. My first book I self-published on Kindle is called Triune: Three as One, a story about three young superheroes and an alien invasion.

I'm hard at work on my next book, and in the meantime use Goodreads voraciously to find new books. My Kindle is hungry, and demands to be filled. I look forwards to talking with everyone, whether shop or just about our favorite books.

Grover Rockwood (GroverRockwood) | 2 comments Hello, my name is Grover Rockwood. I currently have three books finished in a children/young adult series. The series is based in a magical world where all mammals evolved like humans. The main character is Zenas, a homeless lupus (Wolf) child.

My series has some intentional controversies based on issues that currently exist in the world.

Right now I have very little funds and my books are sitting in editing limbo. I plan to have a kickstater in the next week to get the funds for editing for the first book and getting it released.

I'll admit that I very recently started tweeting and just started a blog that still stands empty at the moment.

@ Grover, re finances and your writing, you can create a print and a Kindle ebook version on Amazon.com for no cost to you, and also do something similar on barnesandnoble.com and at Smashwords, tho some of these sites are picky on what/how to upload text and cover art. Hi there!!!

First off, what a great group to create, there is nothing better than reading a FANTASTIC book and then wanting to meet or contact the author :)

I am Ella Frank, author of Exquisite, which is available at Amazon. It is part of a three part series and I am currently writing the second book now.

I love to read all kinds of romance. Hot and steamy to PNR, to historical to off the wall genres. Anything with a happy ending, count me in :)

That is also what I happen to write, not the off the wall kind..lol the hot contemporary kind :)

I'm self published and am looking for an editor and an agent, fingers crossed.

I'm happily married to a wonderful man who puts up with my reading and writing obsession and I am mother to an insane but lovable fur ball :)

So that's me, I'd love to meet you :)

C.J. Graves Hey all!
I'm C.J. Graves from NC. Just when I got the hang of the "trying to get traditionally published" thing--write, edit, query, scream, cry, repeat--the world changed to epublishing. So here I am, trying to figure this out.

I've got three books online at both Amazon and Smashwords. Crossed--a mystery, Belted--a dark romance, and Antichrist 16--a YA paranormal. Yes, I have trouble sticking to one thing!

Anyway--I do mixed martial arts so my characters usually kick butt. Glad to meet you all!

Thanks! Well, before novels, I wrote a non-fiction book proposal and two screenplays. Just trying to land on the thing that worked, I guess. My issue now is the idea of "branding" myself. I know I need to find something and stick with it, but I'd love to try my hand at (insert totally different genre here). Anyhow--thanks for hello.

Erin Zarro | 3 comments Hi, my name is Erin and I'm an indie writer. I just released my first novel through Turtleduck Press called Fey Touched. It is science fantasy, a different look at faeries. I also write poetry, and have released two poetry chapbooks with Turtleduck Press.

Turtleduck Press is a writer's alliance that I'm a member of. We publish indie books that may have less commercial appeal, but are still good quality, books that would otherwise fall through the cracks. We started publishing in 2010 and are still going strong.

I write adventure novels with a bit of a sci/fi flair. So far, the two that I have published have time travel as a primary theme. 3012: The Artifact is my first and it's sequel 3012: The Uprising is my second. I'm currently writing a young adult novel (Moon Feathers) which features talking animals and space travel. I plan to continue the 'Time Awaits' series with a third novel (Crisis) once I finish Moon Feathers. Both of my currently published books are available on amazon and kindle.

John Grier | 4 comments Yes, I spent 4 years on Andros Island in The Bahamas, living and working as a civilian contractor on a US Navy base. Yes, it most certainly had it's moments! I met some wonderful people there and drew quite a bit of inspiration from the locals. My first book (3012: The Artifact) has a bit of Bahamian culture in it, all based on my experiences there. I would love to go back!

Carla Krueger (carlahkrueger) Hi, my name is Amaya Ellman. I’m new to Goodreads and thought I’d introduce myself.

I’ve been a fiction writer for around five years creating thrillers, dark comedies and straight fiction. At first, I wrote for the enjoyment of it but was busy pursuing a science writing career following a physics degree. Recently however, in light of encouraging reviews and feedback, I saw that fiction was my true priority and took the self-publishing plunge.

I would love to link up with like-minded people on Goodreads and introduce my fiction to interested readers.

With that in mind, I’m pleased to announce the completion of new thriller, ‘Slaughterhouse’. Set in a quiet area of America, it’s a fast-paced psychological nail-biter like no other. The first chapter is free to read right now. If you like the sound of it, just visit my Goodreads Author Page or search ‘Amaya Ellman Slaughterhouse’ in ‘Stories’ to get a flavour.
Next up, I’m organising a Giveaway and full book launch on 24th August 2012. The countdown is on – I hope you’ll be a part of it.

For all the latest, sign up to my light-and-bright blog, 'amaya ellman' or link into my darker side at 'dream up words'. You can also follow me on Twitter @amayabooks.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Kind wishes,
Amaya

I've written professionally for a number of years--first as a journalist and newspaper editor, then as a copywriter, medical writer, and script writer. I've written five novels so far--three mysteries and two fantasies. Two came out this year. First was a reboot of my PI mystery, SMOKING RUIN.

Smoking Ruin by D.R. Martin

The second is a middle-grade ghost adventure, JOHNNY GRAPHIC AND THE ETHERIC BOMB.

Massimo Marino | 106 comments Hi there, my name's Massimo and just started to venture into Goodreads since few days.

I am on Amazon since last month, http://amzn.com/B0083IHV5I, and Apple Store and Smashwords. Getting the first reviews as we speak.

I always read a lot, and science fiction, fantasy, in addition to the classics. Stories have always filled up my mind and never found their way to be written ever.

I am a scientist as a background, spent years at CERN and at the Lawrence Berkeley Lab, to then having leading positions with Apple Inc. and the World Economic Forum. Am also Partner in a new startup in Geneva for smartphones applications: TAKEALL SA.

I live in France and cross the border with Switzerland daily and multiple times, but no, I'm not a smuggler.

With family, I lived on both sides of the Ocean Pond and we speak three languages at home, sometimes in the very same sentence even!
I feel home where loved ones and friends are and have friends in Italy, Spain, France, UK, Switzerland, Germany and the US.

Ah, as golf player, I played courses in all those countries too. With mixed results.

Great meeting you all.

Cheers
Massimo

PS
My debut post-apocalyptic novel here is: Daimones
