Rob Von bock (rvb13) | 3 comments Hi All
My name is Robin, a new author on Goodreads. I have been on for a month or so but this is my first venture onto the posting sites. I write (currently) humorous fantasy fiction, aimed at young adults but think it's been old adults who've did most of the reading so far :-)
The first book in my planned trilogy is entitled Parody Lightfoot and the Bane of Time. I have a few sales and 1 review so far but obviously looking for more.Parody Lightfoot and the Bane of Time

Delighted to meet everyone.

Denise DeSio (denise_desio) | 4 comments Hey you guys!

I'm Denise DeSio, author of Rose's Will, a tale of a dysfunctional family (mine), described as "a roller-coaster ride of raw human emotion," from the laughable to the horrific. I listed it in the giveaway thread if you're interested.

And now I will ask your forgiveness for the brash self-promotion, and say that Ithink I might be happy here if I'm not outnumbered 90 to 1 by werewolves, vampires, spiritual entities, and the romantically lustful. By that I mean, I am looking for a group of authors and readers who write and read realistic fiction and appreciate characters who put their pants on one leg at a time.

I read upmarket, literary, and some commercial fiction, psychological thrillers and memoir. Rarely do I read YA, unless you're Kelly Hitchcock, an amazing wordsmith I discovered right here on Goodreads. Never do I read paranormal, fantasy, or romance. And I'm sorry to say that I find Christian/Inspirational material insipid and boring. The point is, I'm losing interest in indiscriminate cross-promotion. I will only follow, tweet, blog and share authors whose work I truly enjoy and believe in.

I've been called quirky, hilarious, outrageous, honest to a fault, and bold when I'm not being called a lesbian, an atheist, a parent, a writer, a putterer, and a logician.

If you find something you like in this post, you might want to give Rose's Will a glance. It's all in there.

Jennifer Grassman (JenniferGrassman) | 1 comments Hello! My name is Jennifer Grassman. I'm not a published author yet, but I'm working on 3 book projects. I am also a recording artist, and will release my 4th album this year.

I was wondering, one of my books in particular requires physical printed publication. Can anyone recommend a good self-publishing service, or is seeking a publisher beneficial? (If so, how)

Thank you!

Living here, I also can't help but write about Congress, the White House, campaigns and elections. I'm co-author of the most recent edition of National Journal's "Almanac of American Politics."

Danie (heyydanie) Hey all! I'm Danie. I'm a reader, but not a writer (unless you count reviews, but I don't). I read just about everything with an exception for most non-fiction unless I'm interested in the subject. I especially love YA (don't judge me!) and mystery/thrillers.

I also have a book reviewing blog, www.booktacularworld.blogspot.com. I'd love to see some of you there and hear your thoughts about it!

Jimelle Salyers (jsalyers) | 7 comments Hello, everyone! It's so great to find such a vibrant community that focuses on two of my favorite subjects - writing and reading. I do both - I have two books for sale on Amazon (I just published a third today, so it won't be up until tonight sometime), The Corny Handbook and Twilight Tales. The new one is Down In Town, a short story.

I also own a book review site, because I keep finding gems on my Kindle that don't seem to get as much notice as they should. I don't review the best-sellers - they get plenty of publicity. I do love to publicize the books that are a little lost in the sea on Amazon, but are so good that they need a special shout-out.

Anyway, it's nice to be here! I'm still finding my way around, slowly but surely!

T. (tjacksonking) | 38 comments Hi reading folks. I'm T. Jackson King (Tom) who has been writing scifi and fantasy since 1988, when my first novel RETREAD SHOP came out. This month sees the release of my post-apocalyptic contemporary fantasy novel THE GAEAN ENCHANTMENT, which takes a realistic, Survivor-style look at what America might become if science fails and earth magic becomes possible. The story involves a man's quest to drive across America to rescue his children in Virginia from social breakdown, his discovery that his totem animal is a giant black bison, and that he--a sour war veteran--can actually heal people using a "hands on" healing process that draws from Gaean earth magic. The book is available in print and cheap in Kindle/Nook ebook format. Plus, I will be putting five copies up for giveaway on Goodreads' giveaway contest! See my titles at http://www.amazon.com/author/tjackson... and at my Facebook and Goodreads author pages. The Gaean Enchantment by T. Jackson King

Monica Miller (monicakoldykemiller) | 19 comments Hi Jennifer!

I'm in the process of publishing my first book. I just got Threads of Betrayal (Historical Romance) on Amazon as a kindle book and am working with Createspace on the paperback. Though I'm in the beginning stages, I've been very impressed with them so far. They seem thorough and work over the phone as well as internet. Since I'm not technically blessed, they've had to respond to my many questions. Despite that, they've been professional and gracious with my computer ignorance. Hope you are successful in all your projects!

I hope you enjoy looking at my book. If you know anyone else who would be interested in sampling it please pass on the information to them.

Jeb Harrison (jebh) | 24 comments Vincent - you are a man of noble causes! (And that's a good thing!)

I have made my living as a "commercial" writer for 30+ years. Finally, my debut novel, HACK, is coming from HarperDavis publishers in June. More here: www.facebook.com/hacknovel.

I also have some truth-is-stranger-than-fiction stories that I've encountered on the road to publication that will leave both authors and readers slack-jawed and befuddled. My favorites are The Melanaie Mills Chronicles: http://jsharrison22855.blogspot.com/2...

Thanks, Vincent, for setting this up and I look forward to meeting all of you! Vaya con huevos!

I was reading the rules for posting, and trying to decide which genre to post it in. It could go in ghost, paranormal, literary fiction, psychological, suspense or women's fiction. I would love it if someone wanted to read it and give me feedback on which genre to put it in. I guess for now I will just put it in Literary. I definitely welcome any comments, if you wanted to check out my website, on the genre your hunch might tell you it belongs in.

Mike Gasaway (00gasman00) | 1 comments Hi Vincent! I have written two books.

Here it goes about me:
I am an Emmy award winning Director with over 6 years of directing/producing experience, specializing in computer animation. I have directed on three award winning shows. I have also been a part of helping to build 2 animation studios - one with a traditional production approach and another with international partners.

After dropping out of the University of Cincinnati's Architecture program in 1993, I decided to take life more seriously. Instead, I moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota and entered the field computer animation.

A spattering of commercials and some medical animations later, I decided to do a short film. Television Monster was created and it landed in film festivals including Siggraph 1996. Walt Disney Imagineering saw the film and offered me a job.

During my 3 years with Disney, I animated on virtual attractions including Hercules and The Pirates of the Caribbean. I also worked on a television pilot concept along with animation that was to be seen at Epcot.

Following a brief stint working with Naughty Dog, Inc on the video game, Jak and Daxter, I moved to Dallas, Texas, to work for DNA Productions as an animator on the film, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. After 2 weeks as an animator, I was promoted to Animation Supervisor. After production wrapped, DNA made I one of two directors for the Nickelodeon television series: The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius.

While at DNA, I directed more than 16 hours of television, including 3 one-hour shows and 1 hour and a half special. During that time, I won an Annie for Best Children’s Animated Series and was nominated for an Annie for Best Directing in an Animated Series. Development of potential series and features was also a part of I's duties at DNA.

In 2006, I left Dallas, Texas and DNA Productions for Carlsbad, California and began working for O Entertainment. From 2006-2009, while at O Entertainment, I served as Supervising Director on Back at the Barnyard, directing 14 episodes, including an hour long special and supervising 33 episodes. In 2009, Back at the Barnyard earned an Emmy Award® for Outstanding Animated Program Special Class.

I also brought the show Planet Sheen to O Entertainment and acted as Co-Creator, Co-Producer and Supervising Director for most of the first season. As co-producer, I was responsible for helping to build the studio as far as hiring personnel and equipment needs. I was also very closely involved in creating work-flows and schedules.

Currently, I am involved as the principal of the Gasman Group leading development and production. I am writing a daily blog that chronicles my path to create a movie from original idea to final mix and eventually, a screening of the movie. I have also written two children’s books. Take a look at my blog at www.gasmangroup.com/blog

Bonnie | 4 comments Hi. I am Bonnie Moore and have published two books: Chorus of Redemption and Death at Sunrise. The first is a story of the disintergration of a marriage with resounding effects.

The second is historical fiction about the last public hanging held in Owensboro, Ky. Ten thousand people looked on, jeered, ate picnic lunches as a young African American was led up stairs to a scaffold erected on the courthouse lawn. Negative publicity led to condemnation from as far away as Europe and precipitated laws being passed to keep executions private.
I am currently working on a memoir of my parents' lives.

I read a brand new popular non-fiction book every second week, and then write an article wherein I summarize the main argument of the book and offer up some of the juicier details and anecdotes to be found therein. My articles are roughly 10 to 15 pages in length and represent roughly 2% to 5% of the total length of the book. Some of the titles I've covered include 'The Social Conquest of Earth' by E.O. Wilson; 'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg; and 'Abundance: The Future Is Better than You Think' by Peter Diamandis. Feel free to check out my work at newbooksinbrief.wordpress.com

Isham Cook (ishamcook) | 2 comments My name is Isham Cook, and I'm a writer of essays and fiction. I'd like to introduce my blogsite: ishamcook.com. It's a literary website with distinctive and provocative essays mainly about China (and therefore about the future), where I've been based for many years, but also on various topics dealing with culture, literature, music, sex, etc. My latest essay posts include:
- A satirical piece on why all sex should be paid for.
- The real reason Shakespeare's audience was susceptible to a belief in ghosts (and it's not the supernatural).
- The problem with the Chinese pianist Lang Lang and others like him.
- What Japanese theater and nude mix-bathing hot springs have in common.
- Why Starbucks is a perfect venue for observing the huge cultural differences between China and Japan.
- How China keeps all of its workers (including white-collar workers and professionals) in line.
At present I don't host other blog writers' contributions on my site, but I do enthusiastically link other's sites to mine (scroll down the right margin of my site to see links to my artist, photographer and writer friends). If you like my site and feel yours overlaps in interest and quality, please give me your own website address and I'll take a look.
