Destiny Smith | 3 comments Hello, lovely people!

My name (or rather alias) is Destiny, and I am currently the author of what I am calling the "Dying Series", a collection of short horror stories centered around artists whose creations are cursed to kill thanks to a witch who used them as a vessel to get revenge on warlocks who murdered her sisters and decimated her home.

I have finished with the four, and am planning on completing a fifth in the future that will center around the witch's backstory!

SonicSpeed Kaleb | 1 comments Hello everyone! My name is SonicSpeed Kaleb. I'm much more of a writer than I am a reader, though, I do love reading the occasional good story when I take the time to do so.

Right now, I'm working on my very first official book; Dogs of Courage and Unity: Unity's First Spark! It's a fantasy, action story that takes place in a world without humans, and it primarily centers focuses on Gale Oakley, an orphaned Pit Bull who's recruited onto the Dogs of Courage and Unity, a team comprised of orphaned dogs with elemental powers who help and protect those in need, as a means of giving them a purpose in life and a place to call home. And a chance to use their powers for good.

I'm more than excited to share it here when it's published on Amazon. Hope my introduction paid off!

Steven Binkley | 1 comments Hi. I'm Steven, and I'm new on Goodreads. I'm seeking an audience as an author. I like writing middle-grade books, and my most recent one was about school. I based the whole book on my own experiences in school.

Anyway, I think this is my group, but I'm not sure. I like writing graphic novels, mostly for middle-grade. I would compare them to DOAWK or Big Nate, but my books are way different than those. I usually try to write relatable, diverse, and developed stories, not just simply "school life." I don't only write about school, I write about a whole bunch of things. So, far, though, I only have one book published. I plan to publish more in the near future!

Well, I hope you guys see this message. I'm not trying to sell my book to you guys -- really, I'm not. I just think I could interact with this group, since the description sounds kind of my style.

I look forward to meeting all of you!

Joseph Anderson | 6 comments Hi - Joseph Anderson here. I'm new to Goodreads and publishing in general. Just had my author page approved today, which is great. I published my first book in 2021 but only really made the rounds to friends and family. Just this month I published a novella on Amazon in prep to publish a three book trilogy, that's completed and ready to go. Science Fiction, space travel, inter dimensional travel and play with perspectives other cultures have had on these subjects already for thousands of years.
Glad I found the group and look forward to seeing where this all goes.

David McLeod | 1 comments Hi, I'm David McLeod, an indie sci-fi author from Australia. I’m excited to join this community and connect with readers and writers who share a love of big ideas and bold adventures.

My debut novel, Starbreaker Protocol, is a cinematic sci-fi adventure about a scrapper who uncovers an ancient artefact onboard an old derelict ship — an artefact that could alter the fate of entire systems and reshape the stars themselves. It’s a story of adventure, survival, mystery, and the echoes of forgotten creations.

Starbreaker Protocol will be available on Amazon soon, and I’m looking forward to sharing more updates as launch approaches.

I’m also really looking forward to discovering new reads here and connecting with fellow sci-fi fans!

Jason Collings | 13 comments Hi, I'm Jason Collings, and I write the Alaric von Trelow Mysteries series, detective novels set in early Weimar Germany.
I grew up in Cornwall, studied history at Oxford, got a day job which supported the family and wrote for fun. In my spare time I read histories and mysteries, travelled to places, often the places I now write about, and wrote for my own amusement.
Now the kids are off at uni and beyond I have the time and focus to do what I've been building up to.
The Alaric von Trelow Mysteries are the result. Based on over thirty years of research into early twentieth century German history. Weimar Germany, especially Berlin, is one of the most chaotic, exciting, influential, thrilling places you'll ever read about. Add some mysteries which look at the historical events from odd angles and vividly drawn characters.
I hope you take a read, I hope you like them.

My new novel, Tavshedens Tårn (The Tower of Silence), comes out on November 24. It’s a story about manipulation, power, and a boy’s fight to be heard when the world prefers to look away.

I love connecting with readers and other writers, sharing experiences, and talking about the strange magic of storytelling.

I’m Alexis Marie LaRue, and for a long time, I was a devoted reader whose heart belonged to the stacks and the endless worlds bound in paper. I’m a wife, a mother, and a woman whose roots run deep into the rich, mysterious soul of Louisiana. Recently, I made the jump: from lifelong reader to self-published author.
I write under a pen name. JENNIFER Tate (httpsjtate519substackcomabout) | 4 comments Jennifer Tate is a California-based writer, educator, and advocate whose work explores the intersection of truth, illusion, and resilience in modern American life. Drawing from more than twenty-five years in public education, Tate brings to her writing an acute awareness of human vulnerability—how people bend truth to survive systems, protect families, and make sense of trauma. Her debut hybrid collection, There Are Many Reasons to Lie, is a meditation on deception in all its forms: personal, medical, and cultural.

Blending memoir, fiction, and social critique, Tate’s work moves fluidly between the intimate and the political. Each story or vignette examines the fragile narratives people construct to endure loss, shame, or systemic failure. Influenced by the psychological precision of Alice Munro, the gothic undercurrents of Shirley Jackson, and the moral intensity of Suzanne Collins, Tate writes with empathy for imperfect characters who navigate impossible choices.

Before turning to full-time writing, Tate worked across California’s diverse school systems—as a classroom teacher, education specialist, and curriculum designer. Her experience supporting neurodiverse learners shaped her belief that storytelling, like teaching, is an act of translation: a way of making complexity visible and giving voice to those often misunderstood or unheard. She is also the creator of Connected Blocks, a visual math curriculum sold on Teachers Pay Teachers, which helps struggling students see mathematical relationships through patterns and color.

Tate’s writing has evolved from personal narrative into a broader exploration of cultural dissonance—how institutions, families, and even well-meaning professionals construct comforting lies to avoid confronting deeper truths. Her work resists simple moral resolutions; instead, it invites readers into the uncomfortable space between empathy and accountability.

In addition to her fiction and memoir writing, Tate authors the Substack newsletter Dispatches from the Edge, where she serializes essays and memoir excerpts exploring motherhood, caregiving, feminism, and the emotional aftermath of life in systems that often fail women and children. Her background in journalism informs her investigative curiosity and clear, direct style, while her literary training infuses each piece with emotional depth and narrative nuance.

There Are Many Reasons to Lie emerged from years of navigating the blurred lines between truth-telling and self-preservation—in family life, education, and healthcare. Tate’s prose moves with the rhythm of lived experience, combining the intimacy of memoir with the tension and imagination of literary fiction. At its heart, the collection asks: What do we lose, and what do we gain, when we choose to lie?

Jennifer Tate lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she continues to write, teach, and mentor young writers. When she’s not working on her next project—a memoir-in-essays about caregiving, generational trauma, and survival—she can be found reading in her garden, designing lessons for creative learners, or drafting her next Substack essay about truth in a post-truth age.

Tationna Williams | 6 comments Hi everyone, my name is Tationna Williams. I’m a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, author, and survivor.

My book, What Didn’t Break Me: From Pain to Purpose – A Journey of Survival and Strength, is more than just a memoir. It’s my real-life story of what I went through and how I kept going through it all; the trauma, the loss, the heartbreak, and the fight to find myself again.

When you’re real with yourself; about your strengths, flaws, needs, and growth areas you take away other people’s power to define you. That truth became my anchor. I wrote this book to show that even in the hardest seasons, you can rise, rebuild, and turn pain into purpose.

If you’ve ever felt like life hit you harder than most, I hope my story reminds you that survival itself is strength.

📖 What Didn’t Break Me: From Pain to Purpose is available now on Amazon.

Hey Destiny, that series sounds absolutely fascinating — I love the idea of each story being tied together through that witch’s revenge arc. The whole concept feels so visual; I can almost picture it unfolding like a haunting film trailer.

I actually help authors bring their stories to life that way — through short book trailers that capture the atmosphere and tension of their worlds. Horror stories, especially ones as layered as yours, work beautifully in that format. If you’d ever like to see how your series might look in motion, I’d be happy to share an example or two!

Hey Kaleb, that sounds like such a brilliant and heartfelt concept — I love the idea of orphaned dogs with elemental powers working together for something bigger than themselves. Wishing you continued success with Terra et Aer!

Liza Hnamte | 1 comments Hi everyone,
I’m new here, I’m joining this group after months of telling myself “maybe tomorrow.” Today is apparently tomorrow.

I’m a mother of two. I wrote a book a few months ago called “Before The World Gets To You”. It’s a collection of letters and conversations with my children, things I hope they’ll remember when I’m not around to repeat myself. It started because my children asks me questions I didn’t have answers to as a child, things I wish someone had told me growing up. I didn’t want them to carry that same emptiness.

I grew up as the youngest of seven siblings in Mizoram, Northeast India. I married into a completely different culture—my husband is Punjabi—so our kids are growing up somewhere between two worlds. A lot of the book is me trying to help them navigate that.
I’m not great at promoting or being visible. I’m more of a “stay home with tea and a book” person. But I do want my book to reach the parents who might need it, or the young adults who feel a bit lost, or anyone who didn’t have the answers growing up either.
Anyway, I’m here to learn, to listen, and maybe to share when it feels right.
Looking forward to being part of this space.🤗

Mary Keating | 3 comments I love the idea behind your book. Your children will cherish it. I'm relatively new to Goodreads as well. I wrote my memoir in verse to help people through life's challenges. "Recalibrating Gravity."

Tina Boyd | 2 comments Welcome to my story! My name is Tina Boyd, and a mum. My journey has been anything but ordinary. In May 2025, I finally began writing the book I’d dreamed about for years—despite all the challenges of raising children on my own. Now, with my debut set to be released worldwide in September, I’m excited to share not just one, but many stories with the world. With the support of a wonderful publisher by my side, I’m embracing each step as an author in the making. Writing hasn’t always been easy; there were slow starts and setbacks, but now that my children are older, I finally have the time and freedom to pursue my passion. Born and raised in Manchester and now calling Torquay home, I still make time to travel back north to see family and friends who inspire me
