Mehdi Mejri | 3 comments Hello everyone,

My name is Mehdi Mejri and I’m a new author stepping into the world of fantasy. I’ve just released my debut novel, The Fives’ Oath, Legacy of the Bloodborn.

It’s the beginning of a saga set in the realm of Ravenhelm; a land torn between legacy, prophecy, and survival. At its heart, though, the story isn’t just about battles or kingdoms, but about people: family, identity, shame, love, and the weight of what we inherit.

I wrote this book because I wanted to explore not only the grandeur of epic fantasy, but also the quiet, fragile moments of being human within it. My hope is that readers will find characters they can feel close to—characters who are strong, broken, conflicted, or searching for their place, just like we all are.

If you enjoy dark, emotional fantasy with flawed heroes and complex relationships, I’d be honored if you gave The Fives’ Oath a chance. And if you do, I’d love to hear your thoughts—it means the world to a new writer.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for letting me share a little piece of Ravenhelm with you.

Christy Landers | 2 comments Hi all! My name is Christy and I am a new author. My debut novel Sugarcane Saint launched in June under my own boutique press label. It is the life story of my grandmother Ruth who was born in Stone Mountain, Georgia and who became involved in a brutal relationship that she ultimately did not survive. Her marriage to this violent man has rippled through four generations of our family. The novel that released in June is the first in a trilogy-- I "accidently" write three books while on this journey!-- and is categorized as historical fiction/memoir. It is saga ripe with early 20th century southern history.

I wrote the book as a way of giving voice to those of us who have struggled with the aftershock of family trauma-- for all the cycle breakers who know how hard (sometimes impossible) it is to balance our past family of origin with the family we'd like to nurture in our present.

My "regular" work is as a private piano teacher. I have a full studio in Virginia that I love!

I'm here because I'm learning... because I'd love to make connections... and because in the brief time I have been a part of the author-world, I have found it to be a warm and engaging space perfect for curious minds.

Lucas Leite | 17 comments Hi everyone! I’m Lucas Martins.

By day, I work as a Production Manager and Mobile App Developer, but writing is where my soul truly belongs. I’m fascinated by mythology, cosmic structures, and deep moral dilemmas, and my goal is to create a vast literary universe (or multiverse!) of fantasy and adventure—mainly for Young Adult and New Adult readers.

I love crossing the boundaries between the human and the divine, telling stories that surprise, move, and stay with readers long after the last page. My style blends epic sagas with emotional twists, narrative purpose, and—often—some meta humor. For me, fantasy is just another way of telling truths.

As a reader, I grew up inspired by Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson books, which really sparked my love for reading, and I also admire more introspective works like Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief. Eventually, I decided to mix the styles I loved into my own writing—and that’s how my stories came to life!

I enjoy imagining the impossible, a bit like the White Queen in Alice in Wonderland, who said we should “believe six impossible things before breakfast.”

Kimberly Taylor | 2 comments Hello everyone!

My name is Kimberly K. Taylor, and I’m excited to be here in this community of readers and writers. I’m a high school English teacher and special needs intervention specialist from Ohio, but outside the classroom, I’ve always been passionate about storytelling.

I recently published my debut historical fiction novel, Delusional Madness — a story set in a 19th-century asylum that explores injustice, resilience, and the hidden voices of those society tried to silence. It’s a deeply emotional project for me, inspired by both historical research and my passion for mental health awareness.

Beyond writing, I love camping, reading, traveling, and spending time with my blended family of six children. Books have always been my way to connect, learn, and reflect — so I’m really looking forward to discovering new reads here and connecting with others who share that love of stories.

Thank you for welcoming me into the group!

I’m new here and excited to join this group! I’ve always loved connecting with readers and other authors who enjoy discussing books.

A little about me: I recently published my newest novel, The Edge of Control, a psychological thriller with AI, suspense, and a touch of the unexpected. Along with that, I’ve written across different genres including thrillers, cookbooks, and horror. Writing for me is all about creating worlds that spark thought and conversation.

Outside of writing, I enjoy learning, building creative projects, and of course, reading as much as I can.

I’d love to get to know everyone here—what’s the last book you read that completely pulled you in? 📚

Looking forward to some great conversations!

Hello all! Just learning about GR posting...This is my first (romance) novel, and I made it so much harder by choosing a 1950s setting in England! lol I made a BIG booboo by sending out ARCS too soon, and then revised the 2nd half. Reviews of the 1st unpublished edition are not great, but the 2nd published ones are good! I just need a LOT MORE!! Thank you!

Jeevan Gopalan | 25 comments Hi everyone.

I am the Author of - “MARGA” - The Alien Code.

The scent of books in a library has been a cherished memory since my childhood. Choosing which book to read from the countless options was often a challenge. This led me to explore numerous titles, and by the time I completed my education and began my professional life, I had read thousands. However, life took an unexpected turn, and for many years, I found myself unable to read a single book! It felt confining, yet similar to metal being heated to be reshaped. Through this process, I evolved and became a writer. My life experiences provided me with valuable insights and wisdom. The most remarkable aspect, however, was the vastness of the universe and the intricate workings of our planet. I poured my thoughts into writing, which resulted in this, my second book.

Have a wonderful day.

Sean Griffin (seanscottgriffin_author) | 4 comments Hello, lovely people...

Does anyone actually read these? Readers, I mean? Or are we just saying hi to a void?

I'm a screenwriter, film producer and author from London, England, and I've just released my debut novel -- DON'T LOOK BACK -- a contemporary fictional story based pretty much on the song 'Don't Look Back In Anger' by UK rock legends Oasis.

How can someone reverse engineer a song into at first, a screenplay, and then into a fully fledged 90k word novel? For me, it's all happened like a fever dream, but the proof is in the pudding, so if anyone wants to read it to see if it's worked, let me know.

Think Nick Hornby meets Sally Rooney, millennial angst with a nice cinematic style story hook.

I'd love some honest reviews on Amazon afterwards too, so if there are any book reviewers here - say hello :D

Hi, Sean!
Great to meet a fellow writer here. I’m also from the 90s generation, and Don’t Look Back in Anger has always been more than just a song to me — it feels like an anthem of our time, with that mix of rebellion and hope. I can totally see how its spirit could inspire both a script and a full novel. Really respect the idea and the courage to turn it into a story of its own. Looking forward to checking it out!

Hey Douglas,

Completely hear you. It's amazing how time can crystallise things like moments in life, movie quotes and especially songs to mean something different or more than as time passes. And each person's perspective will be different!

For me, it's become a mantra that's become a book and a screenplay!

That’s really impressive — to think that a single song (even one as anthemic as Don’t Look Back in Anger) can spark not just a script but an entire novel. It’s a great reminder of how powerful art can be when it resonates deeply.

In a different way, I’ve also tried to capture that sense of inspiration in my own work. My book Start at the Finish isn’t a novel, but I do hope it can spark new ideas and help readers approach their goals with a fresh perspective. And if even one person finds it meaningful, I’ll feel it has done its job.

My name’s Michael. I’m a graphic designer and site moderator for a community club, and I was diagnosed with autism at age six. Ever since I first watched the Indiana Jones trilogy as a kid, I’ve been drawn to the creative arts of filmmaking and storytelling.

I studied art, design, and media in college and went on to earn a BA (Hons) in Animation Production from Ravensbourne University in 2013. Alongside design work, I co-wrote and illustrated What Autism Means To Me, a collaborative book offering first-hand insight into life on the spectrum.

These days, I focus on creating my own richly imagined fantasy adventures, beginning with my debut novel Magick Quest – Echoes of Darkness, the first in an ennealogy (nine-book series).
When I’m not writing or designing, I love experimenting in the kitchen, reading great books, dabbling in filmmaking, and always seeking out new stories to explore.

T-jay Clayton | 1 comments Hi everyone 👋

I’m new here, and I’m hoping to connect with fellow fantasy readers and writers.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about what makes dark fantasy so addictive. For me, it’s that uneasy balance between beauty and horror — where every victory feels dangerous, and even the heroes carry shadows of their own.

That’s the kind of story I wanted to write when I created Cursed Shadows — the first book in my new saga. It’s a mix of dark fantasy, cursed magic, betrayal, and forbidden romance, where survival often means becoming something you swore you’d never be.

Here’s the hook I’ve been playing with:
When shadows curse the land, one reluctant hero must face ancient powers and dangerous choices — but the deeper he goes, the harder it becomes to tell whether he’s saving the world… or dooming it.

I’d love to know — what’s your favorite thing about dark fantasy? The morally gray characters? The tragic twists? Or that feeling that nothing and no one is ever truly safe?

(also on Kindle Unlimited if that’s your thing!)

Looking forward to chatting with you all — and adding way too many new books to my TBR 😅

Derya KAYA | 9 comments Hello, I am Derya. Books have always felt like new worlds opening up to me. My reading journey started in primary school — one of the very first books I remember was Cuore (Heart) by Edmondo De Amicis, which introduced me to children’s literature. Later on, works like Kemalettin Tuğcu’s Kolsuz Bebek also left a strong mark on me.

Over time, reading became more than a hobby; it turned into a way of understanding life and people better. I also enjoy helping others, and writing naturally grew out of that passion. Today, I write in the fields of psychology, philosophy, and personal growth. Trying to explore questions about the human mind and everyday struggles we all share.

I’ve recently published a few books, and while I’m still at the beginning of this journey, I’m very excited to connect with fellow readers and writers here. Looking forward to discovering your stories too.

I have many articles published on these topics, including providing Air New Zealand with all the travel articles for the launch of their iPhone app, an article published by Cambridge University for the Advanced English Exam, and travel articles for Google for use in their advertising. I also used to have a contract with Dow Jones to publish my AI articles.

My first book was just published: "Trials & Tea Ceremonies: Misadventures in Far Away Places" - a travel memoir on my year backpacking the world. I have been getting great reviews, including from Pico Iyer, Mike Richards, and Alastair Humphreys.

Most recently, I made a trailer for the book (I used to be a filmmaker) and this is on my profile.

Knox Sutherland | 3 comments Hello. My name is Knox Sutherland. I'm not a writer ... yet. But I've been dusting off a 20 year old manuscript and plan to self publish it as I am nearing retirement and have more time. I was an avid reader before work and parenthood and hope to return to reading again after retirement. Some of my favorites down through the years are Shogun, For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Caine Mutiny, and Northwest Passage. As you can tell, I like historical based fiction.

Sure do like fantasy that isn't afraid to get a little dark... it just makes the lighter elements that much more impactful.

Cheers to you,

Jaroslava Szoradova | 1 comments Hi everyone 👋,
I’m Sara, an indie author and creator of coloring books and self-help guides. I love making books that help people relax, spark creativity, and find a little peace in their daily lives.

Some of my published works include:

🎨 Bellissimi Mandala di Animali da Colorare (animal mandalas for stress relief)

🐾 Animali Fuori Contesto (a fun and absurd coloring book for adults)

🌱 A practical guide on managing anxiety, filled with simple techniques for everyday life

I joined this group because I enjoy connecting with readers and other authors. I’d love to learn what everyone here is reading, coloring, or working on—and also share free samples, tips, and inspiration from my books when allowed.

Looking forward to meeting you all and being part of the discussions! 🌟
