G'day, everyone; my name is Jo. I am from Australia, and this is my first time self-publishing. I was a social worker for nearly a decade, and my book is Child Protection Behind Closed Doors. It has taken me a while to get comfortable marketing my book, as social media is a new concept to me. It is excellent that Goodreads has this type of platform, and I have loved reading all your posts.
Greetings all! Excited to be here!A lifelong reader, I've been immersed in the craft of worldbuilding since his first readings of J.R.R. Tolkien and spent countless hours developing multilayered environments for roleplaying games in my younger years.
Inspired by historians like Arnold Toynbee, I studied history at Princeton and specialized in comparative studies, doing extensive independent work on the U.S. Civil War and the roots of totalitarianism in pre-World War I Germany and Japan.
As an adult I turned his creative focus towards technology, using it as a canvas for creating companies, products, and experiences. I now serve as an investor, senior advisor, and fractional executive for several early-stage companies in a number of industries.
My first novel-length book, Within Wheels, was released in 2024 as the first of a series. I live in Boston, Massachusetts with my family.
Morning everyone. I am Susie Wall. I am an oldie now retired after a long career working in finance. I was lucky in my career to work for some big blue-chip companies, Virgin and Sega, being a couple. I was at Virgin when the lovely Mr Branson decided to buy a jumbo jet. Of course, we all thought him nuts but, Virgin Atlantic went on to become a world-class leader in aviation.I recently published my one and only book about my parents. It was very therapeutic going through all the memorabilia I inherited from them. I also did quite a lot of research which resulted in my finding out things, especially about my dad, that I hadn't known before. I am very proud of what I have achieved and my wonderful parent's story will be around long after I am gone.
Hello, my name is K.D. Rill, and I'm a new author. I published my first novel on August 31st. It's an urban fantasy novel about witches in Denver, and their struggle for freedom from government control. It's the first in a five book series. The second book is written, but it's in the hands of beta readers while I work on book 3. I've been writing since I was 13 years old, sooooo...a long time. I have an epic fantasy series with four parts, each set in a different era on my imaginary world, among many other stories that I have to tell.
My novel is called The Tame Ones, and it's available on amazon in ebook and paperback formats.

It’s written for anyone facing the challenges of gray divorce, especially those recovering from a relationship with a covertly narcissistic partner. I’m Michelle Lorraine, a writer, speaker, and advocate for women navigating the difficult journey of gray divorce. My experiences with late-life divorce and covert narcissism inspired me to help others find hope, strength, and a fresh start. Through my work, I aim to shed light on the impacts of these relationships and to offer understanding and encouragement for those ready to heal and grow.
Hello everyone, My name is Sarah Catherine Roy. I am currently nineteen and I wrote my first book at seventeen. It's called Clouds and it is available on Amazon if you ever want to support me. I wrote this book when I was going through a rough time myself, and so it why there are a lot of thoughts in that book that reflect me. For anyone interested, it's an enemies to lovers with heavy tension and major plot twists.
About myself,
I believe that I am a lost cause in love, meaning that I don't get chosen by someone. I believe that I am sometime under appreciated for things that I do for other people. And in order of helping me cope with my emotions, I write. I write when I have something heavy on my mind or on my hear. I write until my wrist hurt and that I can't feel my fingers. I write until the sun goes up. In other words, I write to breathe. It's the only way. I also grew up as a sick kid in a hospital and so coping with emotions always has been hard for me so writing makes my life better. It's the only therapy that works for me. I don't have hope, and I'm loosing faith in my dreams. I believe that my dreams are just dreams (I want to be a worldwide writer). I secretly believe that I have a talent in writing but I will never admit it to myself out loud. And even if I don't have hope anymore, sometime in the night between the dark and the moon, I know that my heart still believe that I can do. That it still believe in me and in my dreams. I'm boring and I don't go out much.
Anyway, that's me. Nice to meet you.
Sarah Catherine Roy x

Nicole,
First off, congrats on putting a book out there. That's tough in any regard. My suggestion keep writing. Don't let bad reviews stop you from continuing to write and publish more books.
There's always room for more story tellers in this world!

Hi, Humphrey Archer, writer of macabre short stories. The stories are like "Final Destination" meets "The Monkey's Paw" (W. W. Jacobs, 1902). They are a little bit Roald Dahl with a hint of Poe and Gorey . As such, they are tragedies more than either mysteries or horror, and would appeal most to readers who enjoy the inexorable pull of a story arc that leads to doom. In each story, a protagonist (usually a rotter), makes a wish or decision with fatal results for someone. Sometimes the victim is just a nice person with bad luck.
I'm Mary I just published on Amazon and my book is called The King of Sheeba. It's listed under Mariette Robertson, however.

I am a new author, and I am looking for advice/information on how to get more reviews for my book, and what methods other authors here have employed to generate buzz, feedback, and sales. Hello Everyone,My name is Russell Carroll and I recently published my debut fantasy novel, Relentless Blades. It's been getting great reviews, not only here on goodreads but also on other blogs: https://www.sffinsiders.com/blog/revi... and https://www.instagram.com/khanbookrev...
I've loved fantasy books/movies/tv shows for as long as I can remember, but I know that getting into Dungeons and Dragons in the early 80's and reading books by RA Salvatore and Weis and Hickman cemented my love of the genre.
I've wanted to write an adventure story of my and my best friend's D&D characters for decades, and finally made it a reality in 2022. I truly feel that anyone who enjoys action-packed fantasy with great fight scenes, will like my book.
When not writing, I'm a father and husband as well as running a zoo. Okay, not really a zoo, but with two German shepherds, an ackie monitor, a ball python and a blue-tongue skink, it sometimes feels like it.
I'm happy to be here and look forward to chatting with you all.!

My name is Tony Wright and I am the author of a true-crime book called Things Aren't Right: The Disappearance of the Yuba County Five.I'm the author of two comic books and a graphic novel with a Midwestern comic book company. I was featured as a Yuba County Five case expert on the Mopac Audio podcast Yuba County Five, the Motor Trend TV show Auto/Biography: Cold Case, and the hit Netflix Series Files of the Unexplained.
Things Aren’t Right: The Disappearance of the Yuba County Five explores the bizarre and tragic 1978 disappearance of Ted Weiher, Jack Madruga, Bill Sterling, Jackie Huett, and Gary Mathias in the Plumas National Forest in Northern California. Four of these men had intellectual disabilities while one was diagnosed with schizophrenia. On Friday, February 24, 1978, they left the Yuba County, California area in Madruga’s 1969 Mercury Montego to attend a basketball game in Chico, California. Four days later the car they were traveling in was found abandoned on a snow-covered road in the mountains of the Plumas National Forest, some 75 miles in the wrong direction from home.
Four jurisdictions of law enforcement would investigate and search for the missing men. Psychics were brought in, and there were strange reports of sightings of the five from numerous people. One witness came forward with an incredible story of seeing the men disappear into the forest that night. Yet every lead came to a dead end. About four months after they vanished, four of the five men’s remains were found some 12 miles from the car, with one discovered in a US Forest Service trailer with plenty of food and fuel to keep them alive for months.

Late last year, I released my novel, "Maddie" on Amazon. In brief, it is a story about reincarnation, but not a typical story. The following is from a review.
In "Maddie," ML Wilson masterfully blends dark humor, mystery, and an extraordinary tale of reincarnation to deliver a captivating read. The story follows Madison Tanner, a fifty-two-year-old wealthy, womanizing jerk whose life is in disarray as he navigates his fourth messy divorce. Just when he decides to make one last effort to salvage his relationship with his young daughter, Madison is brutally murdered along with his estranged wife, Julie.
But death is far from the end for Madison. In a bizarre twist of fate, he is reborn as Madeline, the baby daughter of a young, single woman named Abigale Aguilera. Retaining all his memories and his acerbic wit, Maddie must navigate the challenges of infancy with the mind of a seasoned adult while on a mission to uncover his killer.
As Maddie, Madison grapples with the complexities of her new life, seeking justice against the backdrop of her former existence. Was it his soon-to-be ex-wife, a disgruntled lover, or a jealous spouse? The quest for answers is as riveting as it is darkly humorous.
What sets "Maddie" apart is its protagonist's unexpected growth. Through the eyes of a child, Maddie discovers a newfound empathy and begins to forge connections and relationships that transform her understanding of family and redemption. This evolution from a thoughtless jerk to a more compassionate individual is reminiscent of an Ebenezer Scrooge-like transformation, adding emotional depth to the narrative.
ML Wilson's sharp writing and wit shine throughout the novel, making "Maddie" a gripping tale that keeps readers hooked from start to finish. It's a story of personal transformation, justice, and the unexpected turns life—and death—can take. Fans of dark humor and unique, character-driven mysteries will find "Maddie" an unforgettable read.
"A gripping tale of reincarnation, dark humor, and personal transformation. Maddie's journey from self-absorbed hedonist to empathetic soul is both riveting and unforgettable. A must-read for fans of character-driven mysteries."
