Hi Blue, best books for me are those that are introspective and humanist. I read a lot of international law/philosophy because it helped me understand some of the post-conflict areas where I worked.

P. Menezes | 5 comments Hello everyone...First-time author here!

My name is Patricia Menezes, penned P. C. Menezes, and I am a first-time self-published author.

My first book Little Things, complex Matters, presents poetry focused on discussing complex life matters in a digestible, simple way.

This journey began as a hobby and as an alternative journaling activity and is now a first poetry book where I muse on different topics such as art, science, past, future, people and love. I enjoy traveling, cooking and both complex engineering and human topics.

I was born in Rio de Janeiro, and currently live abroad where by day, I am Senior Business Manager in the Engineering and Manufacturing industry, a career which still inspires many of my writings.

I would love to hear from readers in my author page and learn more about the work of you fellow authors.

https://mybook.to/kGtp

https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?...

The tale is about a dog named Jake who goes on an adventure to find big water. I used personal photographs due to my lopsided stick figures. Whether you are a child or young at heart, may it put a smile on your face.

So far, I haven't received any reviews and hope to hear from you soon. Help grow a better writer.

Thank You!

Phil Davis (livepauhanacom) | 16 comments Sorry, Vincent- I'm new to Goodreads (my excuse).
I've been trying to retire from a career as an architect. I closed my office on the Big Island of Hawaii ten years ago, and I keep getting calls to help old friends.
I wrote a couple of novels while living in Hawaii, and stopped to hone my writing skills and re-introduce myself to my wife.
It took me two years to complete another work, and I uploaded a fiction novel to Amazon earlier this year (Lies, Deception, and the Stealing of Wealth). And now I have another in the works (Just A Touch).
I read as much as I write. Stephen King was adamant about reading in his book "On Writing", and that was one of the big three takeaways I got from him.
I also like getting inspiration from reading poetry and song lyrics.

Anne (a_page) | 3 comments Hi, I am an avid reader and writer. My first novel, Butterfly Dreams, was just released by Aristata Press (https://aristatapress.com/books) the day before yesterday and is available online and in select brick and mortar stores. I am working on my second novel, and am also a singer-songwriter. Professionally, I have spent my life as a cultural anthropologist. I gave up my day job in the tech industry almost six years ago to pursue writing full-time.

I have set up my author profile here on Goodreads and also on Amazon, but am still trying to figure out how to garner followers. I already have a lot of friends on Goodreads from before. Love to hear from others about how you have done it!

Ilona | 3 comments I didn’t even know I was a top reviewer!!

I try to review all the books that I read, and they are from various genres, but I’d say they’re mostly children’s books (picture books, chapter books, middle grad novels), fantasy, and lately I’ve been very interested in Japanese literature as well.
My reviews are written either in English or in French, depending on the language in which I read the book.

Sue Tort | 2 comments Hello everyone, my name is Sue Tort and I am a reader and a writer. I am new to Goodreads and when I have found my way around I'm looking forward to getting involved with some of the group chats.

I read most things, fiction and non-fiction although I do draw the line at novels which have extensive descriptions of gore or any animal cruelty.

I write cozy crime and I have published two novels in my Mumford Mystery series. Yes, there is a dog, and no, he doesn't get killed or hurt!

I am a vegetarian and animal lover. I also love music - I guess that's why a couple of my characters are musicians! I play the saxophone (badly) and the cello (really really badly).

Lyv Lamere | 5 comments Hey Everybody!
My name is Lyv Lamere (well, my pen name that is ;) ).
I'm a new author from Germany, where I'm currently living with my husband, our two cats, and my snake.
While I've been doing all kinds of things in my life so far, like studying veterinary medicine and working at a lab, and working as a contractor in the tech industry, through it all, I've also always been a reader of all kinds of genres.
With my love for books, it felt kind of natural to follow up on a comment between friends meant as a joke and actually start to write my first novel.
By now, I'm still a little surprised and just thrilled to see my debut novel Generational Payment: Couples & Crime Book One has found its way into the big, wide world.

Have an amazing day!

Ryan Beckelman | 4 comments Hello, my name is Ryan Beckelman. About four years ago, after a conversation about books we were reading, a friend and I were marveling about how authors do it! I decided to give it a try. It didn't start smoothly, and it took me some time, but after a while I found my stride and now, I can't stop. I hope I've written a well-crafted story with endearing characters that my readers will love as much as I do.

Jon Sparks Hi all. I'm Jon Sparks, author of the genre-stretching Shattered Moon series (and a lot of non-fiction before that, as a writer and photographer specialising in travel and the outdoors).
'Three Kinds of North' is the first book of the series. It's a coming-of-age story set in a post-apocalyptic world that may feel strangely familiar (and there are no rats or robots to be seen!).
Here's the blurb:
A distant future. A world transformed.
Remnants of a shattered moon traverse the skies, memorials to an ancient and nearly-forgotten conflict. In an isolated northern land, society is overseen by the reclusive, all-female, Guild of Dawnsingers, which holds a monopoly on advanced learning. Life seems peaceful and well-ordered; but are the Dawnsingers as benevolent as they seem? What secrets are they hiding?
And what really lies beyond the mountains in the East?
Orphan Jerya unexpectedly finds a home in the Dawnsingers' Guild, but her new life turns sour. Soon she finds herself struggling to reconcile the exhilaration of learning with her growing doubts about the very basis of the Guild's rule. Ultimately she faces an agonising choice which could utterly change her life, and the lives of her two most trusted friends.
