Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hello from one of you fellow authors from Goodreads.I'll invite you to friend. (In real life and also here at Goodreads, I have many buddies who are also from Downunder. Or, as I prefer to call it, "Living in my tomorrow."
Oh, I see that so far you are only accepting FOLLOWS. For me, to get the most out of this platform, my experience is greatly enriched by sharing with Goodreads-type friends. Not only followers. You might want to consider that.
Anyway, good to meet you, Jules.
Greetings to all. I am a retired cop from Michigan now living in sunny Florida! I have hung up the uniform and now spend my free time writing suspense/thriller fiction. It's much better than writing tedious police reports. I previously wrote for our local paper (humorous police stories) and a Tampa fishing publication. I have self-published four novels and recently finished a fifth that I hope to publish traditionally. I want to get more involved with author and reader networking, so here I am.
My current novels are all fast reads (just under 300 pages) with short action-packed chapters. If you want a relaxing read, you should probably skip my novels. On the other hand, if adrenaline-pumping, oxygen-depleting, fingernail-biting books are for you---check me out!!
See my website tommohrbach.com or my FB page Tom Mohrbach Novels for additional information. Please reach out to me for any questions, suggestions, or constructive (let's not be haters) comments.

Hi Rose I am happy to accept friends as well. I am completely new to this and have probably set up my account in the wrong way. Any suggestions? I will go back in and have a look but would love to accept you as a friend. Jules the lady from your tomorrow. :)

Hi Everyone, I published my second book in January, Truth. Courage. Love. https://www.amazon.com/Truth-Courage-...A child of the 1970s, Terry Sidford didn’t realize she was born into an unhappy marriage until the age of five when drinking tore the family apart. In an attempt to escape her mother’s issues with alcohol, Terry and her sister run away from home one night to join their alternative-lifestyle father, in the hope that they might find some adult stability. Thus begins Terry's unconventional "Wonder Years," in which she endures an absentee mom, teenage self-improvement boot camp, and an educational system that misdiagnoses her sensitivity and intuitiveness as learning disabilities. Join speaker, author, and popular life coach Terry Sidford on her journey, in which she shares the secrets of how to use your worst experiences to become the best version of yourself.
I look forward to interacting with all of you, Terry Sidford
Hello, I’m retired and spend my days golfing, writing, and trying to remember why I went to the kitchen. I retired from sales and discovered by accident that I was a decent storyteller. As a challenge, I started writing to express my frustration with politics that impact African Americans.
Not satisfied I decided to challenge myself again but this time to write a historical fiction book about black lives during different eras of American history. My stories are a blend of historical facts and creative writing.
I have published three books since 2021. I look forward to connecting with other new authors.

I am a writer AND a reader! I believe anyone who is bold enough to write, must also read A LOT in the type of works he or she writes. My favorite authors are Pat Conroy, Barbara Kingsolver, Sue Monk Kidd and Khaled Housseini. I am the author of three novels I am presently seeking to market: The Bridles of Armageddon (Quill Hawk Publishing, 2023), Searching for Eden ( Quill Hawk Publishing, 2022) and The Sons and Daughters of Toussaint (Adelaide Books, 2018). I am an active member of an author’s cooperative, TellTale Authors. I live in East Wenatchee, Washington with my wife Cathy, where I have been serving with AmeriCorps, teaching English to immigrants and helping low-income families with financial asset-building. I also teach children and youth chess and enjoy the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. You can learn more about my writing at https://www.keithmadsen.com/.
Hi all,I'm Juliette Godot. It took me 10 years of research and writing to finally get my book traditionally published by a small press. My book is about my own grandparents from the 16-17th centuries.
Now that it's done, I have no idea what to do to get it to be known. I entered a couple of contests and won 5 stars reviews, thinking that would result in something, but besides getting stickers, they really haven't helped... LOL
Anyway, if you like Renaissance Historicals about real people but are sick of the Tudors, here you go:

My name is BC Hix and I have just launched my debut novel. I live in the southwest US and have two great kids, a wonderful wife, and a full time job not related to writing. I enjoy hunting, hiking, camping, and spending time outside- even in the brutal summer months out here in the desert. I am looking forward to connecting with others in the writing community and hopefully making some new connections in the book world!
Hi All,My name is Dan, I currently live in New Jersey, along the shore. I have not been lucky enough to have published a novel like so many others on here. But, I do enjoy reading, a lot.
My love for reading extends from my early childhood. I enjoy getting lost in the stories, far from my own reality. Now a days, it gives me a well earned mental break from my 9-5 job, with reading about fictional wars or some nonchalant Detective beating up a criminal lol.
I read just about anything, Historical Fiction, History, Science Fiction, Fiction, Murder Mystery, Biography, etc.
Always open for a suggestion or a discussion about a book, series and or topic.
Greetings my name is Jay from NYC and I have self-published my 1st book this year Bars, Beats, & Business: A Definitive Guide To Navigating The Hip Hop Industry. Hello, I’m Jordan Encee. I’m a soon to be author of Unborn Ghost. I’ve gotten into reading since 2020. I always hated reading as a kid but when 2020 happened I was a beta reader for a indie book called Levie. I loved and then started checking out old child books that I remembered the title of when I was a kid. Then I explored other stories and now I’ve been keeping a look out for indie and self published books. I’ve been having a blast because now I’m 150 books in and I’m excited to see what more is out there. Please let me know some self published and indie books out because I would love to support as many of them as I can.
Hi everyone! My name's Josh and I love to read books, but also writing too! I am trying to get good at the crafting of stories and have the goal of getting published one day with an epic fantasy series.

Hello! My name is Jodee Patel. I began my career as a desktop publisher, but I have always loved to write stories. In 2014 I made up a story for my then six year daughter about a purple rabbit. Later in the day she wanted me to read it again. I decided to write the story I had told her down on a piece of paper. Shortly after I used all my skills and self-published my first children's book, "The Purple Rabbit". I absolutely loved the joy that self-publishing brought me, it also gave me the confidence to publish a story I had been working on for years. Later in 2014 I published my first young adult fiction, "The Lost Key". Soon after finishing that book, I became curious about a Marceline, Missouri legend about a ghost known as The Lady in White. While researching the legend, a story began to play out in my mind. In 2018 I published my top selling book, "The Lady In White", and followed up with the second book of the series, "The Lady In White Who?" in 2022. I am currently finishing up my most recent young adult book, "Zalvador and the Fairy Village of Shroom". I would love to hear from you! You can visit my website at http://www.jodeesweb.com
It has been a while since I wrote so I wanted to tell everyone about a new book that it free on Kindle March 20-26. A Dramatic and Prophetic Short Story: Jesus and His Early Life can be obtained at https://christianwritersbookstore.com...
I learned a lot about the wise men who to me seemed like they just popped out of the sky like the star that led them to Bethlehem. But there is a backstory recorded in the Old Testament that helps us understand them better. The story has a little bit of everything. drama and how God saved the marriage of Joseph and Mary. Also, God protects them from an evil king. There is even a prophetic twist. I hope reading the book makes you all smile when you think about how God's son came into the world.
I appreciate any honest reviews. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I am Geoff Glanville, an Australian author born in Brisbane. I am a retired property professional and am now dedicating a good part of my spare time to one of my great loves; writing. I published my first crime fiction novel, “Justice Denied” last year and it falls into the more specific genre of “Outback Noir.” Not long after publication a suffered a series of health issues which unfortunately resulted in my marketing efforts being somewhat spasmodic. As a consequence I have just decided to relaunch the book starting with uploading it as an ebook on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BYZXQ8XRSynopsis of “Justice Denied”
Lennie Krause has suffered tough times following a devastating sporting injury and the failure of his relationship with worldly wise girlfriend, Marion Kent. Just after Christmas 1980, the young mechanic tragically dies in his outback Dalby workshop, with the coroner delivering an open finding of either a work accident or suicide. Twenty years pass before the terms of Lennie’s mother’s will, see his old grazier/cattle man friend, Alan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald, revisit the scene of Lennie’s death. Items that Fitzy encounters in the workshop cause him to wonder if the coroner may have been wrong, and whether Marion may have been implicated in some way in the death. The search to discover more, takes the grazier from the outback to the glitzy Gold Coast resort precinct and the State capital of Brisbane. Here his research leads him to Marion’s ex-husband, Brian Jarrett, a man who has had his own issues with Marion. Marion has become a successful businesswoman and believes she has it all, but will she reap the rewards, or pay a price for her past? Justice Denied is a tale of deception, manipulation, death, tenacity and honour. It is Australia’s latest addition to the literary world’s most popular new genre, “Outback Noir.”

Hello! I'm Eva Moon and my novel "Pinocchio's Guide to the End of the World" was published TODAY (3/21/23). I'm happy to be part of this community and welcome your honest reviews. Here's the short synopsis:
Becoming real was only the start. Pinocchio got his wish, but finds there’s more to being human than having the right kind of body. Inside, he still feels like that same wooden puppet.
In the wake of WWI, his struggle to fit into a human world leads to a deadly fight with a fascist officer and flight from the only home he’s ever known.
From tramp steamers to stifling sweatshops, from love to bitter heartbreak, he can’t outrun his puppet past. Returning home years later, he discovers his beloved papa, Geppetto, was spirited away in the middle of the night into a Germany newly in Hitler’s grip.
On his perilous journey, he finds a motley crew of allies, love, and an unexpected enemy who knows a secret about Pinocchio’s own magical origins that could help her enslave humanity.
Pinocchio’s Guide to the End of the World is a tale of friendship, love, and, ultimately, what it means to be real.
Reviews:
Editor's Pick, BookLife Reviews: "Moon’s richly inventive debut novel proves as enchanting—and as darkly surprising—as the original fairytale from which it takes inspiration."
IndieReader: "Eva Moon manages to balance humor, adventure, and drama in Pinocchio's Guide to the End of the World and the warm humanity of her characters helps illuminate one of the darkest chapters of the 20th century."
Reedsy Discovery: "Must read! (5 stars) A delightfully fresh, gripping take on an old classic with charming characters and a heartfelt message. I felt totally immersed in this world and totally invested in its colorful cast of characters, all of whom you will fall in love with. It's part fairytale retelling, part contemporary fantasy, part alternate history, with warm, heartfelt themes about humanity, love, and belonging."

Hi David,
I am Emily. I am also a mental health counselor and a Harry Potter lover. I am not a writer, (a part from charts and letters) I wish I had the talent. I would love to hear more about what you enjoy writing and what you are writing about now. I consider myself a big reader, although I realize there are much more prolific readers here on Goodreads. I enjoy reading most everything. I have been on a mystery kick lately. Thank you for introducing yourself!

Hi everyone, my name is Vandana. I'm here to seek some guidance. Please help if you can. After I self-published my first book, "The Prophecy Paradox: The Power and Perils of Seeing the Future," I'm already working on the second mythological fiction. Am I wrong? Actually, we watched a movie yesterday and my 10 year old started talking about the Greek mythology. Most of the fantasy novels and movies are based on Greek mythology. It killed me to know my son has only a slight idea of Hindu mythology but his knowledge in Greek mythology is deep.
My question is I still haven't marketed my first book but thinking about writing the second one, is it wrong? What do you think about this new idea, should I start working on it? Thanks in advance.
Hi all! I'm a newly minted self-published author and a voracious reader. My genre of choice is Historical Romance, in particular the Regency era, which is why I set my debut novel in this period. I am naturally a fan of Georgette Heyer and Jane Austen, but I will read as many different historical romance authors as I can get my hands on. I love a good chuckle like Tessa Dare and Barbara Metzger offer, and inspirational romance like Carolyn Miller and Krisi Ann Hunter.
My first novel, The Duke of Devastation, is number one in a series which I am enjoying writing very much!

I write myself, mainly non-offensive erotica, but I am also an avid reader myself. I read a wide range of stuff but absolutely love historical fiction. I have just read a book about Henry the 8th facing a trial and it blew my mind. I have read all of the authors other stuff but this is something very different. I love books that challenge accepted historical facts.

Never thought I would be an author, then my youngest son died and I found myself writing about my journey. Next minute, I've launched a memoir, Good Grief: Waking up to a new mourning, a story with a very interesting twist. Life is unpredictable.
So here I am! I have a whole new appreciation of what it takes to become an author. Congrats to all the authors out there. And hello to all the readers, without you it's just words on a page. So happy to be part of the Goodreads community.
