My name is Kayla. I am 21. I am a college student and new here at GR. I love reading, music, and having fun. I'm here because I don't know anyone that likes books IRL, so I figured I could make some friends here! Send me a friend request and I will add you back. I have my own group that I started just for fun and you guys can DM too!

Kathleen: I am totally mystified by Goodreads and how authors and readers dialogue with each other.
When I tried to comment on your questions-it did not let me. So I commented on your statement. Only then did a box to comment pop up. I am the author of 10 books most trade publications so this is my first entirely self-published book. I have been reading Good Night Moon by children's author Margaret Wise Brown and I want to read the biography that details her relationship with Michael Strange, the actor John Barrymore's ex-wife. As my new book deals with anti-conversion therapy for Teens and their Parents.
I am Patrick Chidi Emmanuel Anyaegbuna with the pen name, Chukwudi Anyaegbuna, the author of THE BARBARIC DOGS and THE HURRICANE. My new release is THE DEAD ARE ALIVE: CLARA, THE GREAT. It is available on Amazon. Below is the link: https://a.co/d/dKRkyhB. Please, read and give me a sound criticism. I want to improve my writing skills. My email is panyaegbuna@gmail.com.

Hi everyone, I am a new author and new to Goodreads. My book, EDDIE, (linked below) is a science fiction adventure novel aimed squarely at 12-year-old boys. It is the kind of book I wanted to read when I was that age. Lots of adults are telling me they have enjoyed the book as well, so I guess it's not limited to middle graders. I am busy working on the sequel, where EDDIE goes deeper into the mystery I deliberately left open at the end of the first book.
I read my first science fiction novel when I was 12 and I have been a big fan of science fiction ever since. But as a reader SF is not exclusively what I read. I enjoy a good mystery, historical fiction, and nonfiction as well. I set myself the challenge this year to alternate between one fiction, one nonfiction and one classic. It will be interesting to see how I go.
Thanks for having me along on the journey.
Chris.

Hello, I'm glad I found this Goodreads section; I write science fiction and poetry. It took me a couple of years to finish my debut novel " Origin Andromeda: The Beginning, " which was published in June 2022 and received positive feedback and reviews.I'm currently working on the sequel and am always looking for new authors to read. One of the most recent series I've read and enjoyed is Chris Harris' "Entropy" series; if you haven't read his books yet, you should.
I joined Goodreads to learn more, broaden my knowledge of all things book-related, find new authors to follow, and hopefully gain a few followers and readers along the way.
You can read more about me in my profile, or on www.originandromeda.com
Hello everyone and happy new year! Really happy to have found this group, looks like the right one for me.
I am a former museum curator and i wrote a book on the history of Patagonia and i guess this group can help me connect with readers or enthusiast of Patagonia.
I think the group will be useful to get to know some tips and tricks to market my book in the web: i guess the topic of my book can be considered a "niche" because Patagonia is mostly looked for in the "travel" section of a library. But here it goes more in the history section.
The Book of Patagonia: Its History from Magellan to our days
Funny enough, i have not found "History" in this group, so i guess i will start in the "Travel" section and take it from there :)
About me, i am 35 years old and born in Argentina. Lived many years in Patagonia where i was the curator of a musem and this last experience inspired me to write a book about its history.
Happy to hear about you, lets be friends or lets follow each other.
I wish you a happy new year!
Juan

Howdy, I'm Thom. I'm a reader before I'm an author, but I got to admit, I've got wares to hawk, ha.I'm almost 50, though I don't feel it most days until I have to pick something up off the floor, then hah! The check engine light is ON, ladies and gents. I work and live in ATX, doing maintenance on automated machinery. Formerly, I was a nuclear rating on a submarine and a piece of offshore oilfield trash. Yeehaw!

I'm new here. But excited to connect with a community of passionate readers/writers, like myself. I read WAY more than I write, but I do consider myself a writer. Just haven't written anything in a while. I'm currently OBSESSED with Amelia Hutchins, and am frustrated that I can't seem to find anymore of her Legacy of the Nine Realms Series. I've read all the way through Crown of Chaos, and it looks like BOTH Queen/King of Chaos are available, unless I'm misunderstanding. Which is totally possible. If anyone has any suggestions for me, I'll accept all the help I can get. I NEED to finish this Series! I'm invested and don't wanna forget where I left off in the story...

Hello everyone. I'm Mike Befeler, author of 19 books, primarily mystery novels that feature older characters (affectionally called geezer-lit mysteries). My most recent book is Old Detectives Home. Imagine a retirement home populated with residents such as an aging Hercule Poirot and a dementia-suffering Sherlock Holmes and run by staff including Art Doyle, Dash Hammett and Dot Sayers. In this light-hearted spoof of the mystery genre, every character is either a real person from the mystery writing world or a character from a mystery novel. On anything but a dark and stormy night, a dead body is found. The staff managers find themselves unable to control the unruly old detectives. Mix in clues and red herrings galore as the cast of suspects investigate each other to figure out who done it. www.mikebefeler.com

Hi. My name is Mark Crawford and I am a new author. My first novel is titled 'Divided Loyalty: Four Sons of the Revolution' - it is based on a true story from my family in the American Revolution. My Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Grandparents John and Jane Crawford arrived in New York City in 1733. As the revolution broke out, their four sons were living and farming side-by-side in Westchester County's 'neutral ground' . . . two decided to fight with George Washington and the Continental Army, while the other two chose to remain loyal to King and Crown. It is a great story and shares little-known history from the American Revolution. I would be pleased if you read it and am anxious and interested in feedback!
Hi, my name is Eva Fogel. I am a children's book author. My new book called My Father's Smile" has just come out. As an ex-teacher, I love to write about and to children. My stories are meant for ages 6-9, when more complicated ideas, like family abuse or losing a beloved parent, can be presented. Born in Europe, living in the Middle East and partly in the States allowed me to write about cross-culture themes and an internationally broad view of a child.

Hi Everyone, I'm Steven (AKA Zero Overtone). Im a composer of concert music, but I wanted to get into writing to explore art-forms that are experienced on vastly different time scales (e.g. looking at a painting in a moment, listening to a song for a few minutes, reading a book over the course of a week, developing your soul over a lifetime). Anyway, as a result, I have just released my first novel (sci-fi). So far, people love it, but I'm still trying to figure out how to connect it to interested readers. That's why I'm here -- to participate in the community, and hopefully connect people with some good words. I'd love it if you checked out my profile, where my book is linked. Thanks!
Hello,My name is Felicia but everyone calls me FeFe! I am looking forward to becoming a published author in this new year, hopefully. I've written 4 YA novels titled "Dreaming of You," "Dreams Come True," "Til Death Do Us Part," and "2 People 2 Different Worlds." I wrote 1 Christian novel called, "I'm Your Child." Half of the time, I am rereading my work and editing what needs to be added or taken out and it's a lot of fun. When I am not writing I also enjoy reading tremendously! My main and favorite genres are Mystery, Suspense and Thriller. Though I've written 4 romance novels, I'm just not much of a big reader of those books. Call me hypocritical. (LOL) Anyway, thanks for having me!

HelloStella Nahatis here.
My memoir is Taxi to America, A Greek Orphan’s Adoption Journey.
I am self publishing. The book is in production with a local printer. I am considering going with IngramSpark. Please contact me with any information you want to share regarding IS.
TIA
Stella https://stellanahatis.com/
I am an ambassador for the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi). IngramSpark is highly recommended and endorsed. It costs for options and revisions. You can recoup this if you belong to ALLi. You can also recoup the ALLi fee if you put a link on your website. You can use coupons up to 5 x for revisions.
The threshold for payment to authors is $100USD after 90 days.
I have had authors say they have never been paid. They get the invoices. This is because of the threshold.
IngramSpark don't have great customer service. No human contact and not much help with email, either!
IngramSpark also do not have a particularly user-friendly dashboard for beginners.
I have personally had complaints from readers about the print being too small. This could be a formatting issue which is being looked into at present.
So shop around. LULU is an option, as is BookBaby. If you go to Dale, Self Publishing on YouTube, there is a lot of information about print options.
IngramSpark do distribute to 40,000 retailers and libraries. They just don't give the information as to exactly where they distribute. However, my readers can obtain books in reputable bookstores like Waterstones and Foyles.
Hope that advice assists you.
All the best!
Hi folksMy first mass market book will come out January 23 (have written scholarly monographs, but this is really different!). I am very excited to be part of this community of readers and writers. The book is a quirky, place-based history of NYC that uses the people that things are named after as a jumping off point. Naming Gotham: The Villains, Rogues and Heroes Behind New York’s Place Names

I self-published with BookBaby and have been very satisfied with any interaction that I had. The cover design for my book, Whipponock Creek: The Life and Times of Will Traylor, was outstanding. BookBaby was very open to my many questions before I committed to working with them. After I signed and throughout the process, they explained how things worked whenever I was unsure how to proceed. My book was only released on Jan 10th, and my book ad on Facebook (through BookBaby) is still running, So I don't have any statistics yet on sales, but I feel the process has been successful. I would work with them again.- Ronnie Pastecki
My name is Kathleen (Kathy) L. Moore & I have just self-published my first y/a fantasy book called ‘The Jewelled Kingdom’ & I want to know how to reach out to readers & get to know other authors.I am a mother of 3 and grandmother of 6 and live in the remote Bella Coola Valley on the Central Coast of British Columbia, Canada. My husband & I have been self-employed since 1995 running a small greenhouse business for 26 years.
I have written stories and poetry all my life. I am a visual artist in pen and ink and watercolour and I have shown my work in several exhibitions, one at the Station House Gallery in Williams Lake and created the cover for my book ‘The Jewelled Kingdom’. My approach to writing is also very visual as the stories play out like a movie in my mind. I am also part of a Voices in Bloom group who meet on Zoom.
I would love to get feedback on my book as I am writing the sequel.
