Bernard Mulholland | 3 comments Hi. I'm Bernard Mulholland, and I am the author of Nazareth Quest, which is a thriller published on Amazon as an eBook, paperback and hardcover.
The November issue of Mensa Magazine has a really great review of my new novel: Nazareth Quest. My novel Nazareth Quest is now available to read on Kindle Unlimited for $0.00 or to buy from only $9.99.
As a historian, archaeologist and Byzantinist (Eastern Roman Empire) I have published several non-fiction books such as The man from MENSA, which is a history of Mensa, and The Early Byzantine Christian Church, Early Byzantine Ireland and Navan Fort Ireland.
I also authored and published: Ratio analysis of financial KPI in the Higher Education sector: a case study. For the purposes of this research a case study comprised of a representative sample of nine universities in the UK was selected from the Russell Group (Table 1.2) because they have a shared vision, mission and set of objectives that should better allow for comparative analysis between them. There are two in Scotland, one in Wales, one in Northern Ireland, and the five highest ranked English universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2015-2016.

Published four books since then. The fifth one comes out on Dec 6, 2022. It has been a wild ride learning how to write, publish, and market a book. Happy to share what I have learned and look forward to learning from all of you. Let's connect!

Hi everyone. I'm Amy and I am new the goodreads. How did I not know this site existed???? I have dabbled in writing for a long time but am now fully commiting to a writers lifestyle. I am currently preparing to write two books and looking to gain some followers. Any suggestions on growing my profile would be appreciated.

Donna Lee Dicksson | 5 comments My name is Donna Lee Dicksson. I've written two books, both historical. The first, "Mattie Lee Price, the Forgotten Georgia Wonder" is a biography of a woman of the same name. At 14 she went on stage in 1884 and rubbed elbows with the likes of Harry Houdini and others who entertained in Dime Museums. She was with Barnum & Bailey's "Peerless Prodigies" and featured on the 1899 poster with the same name. She was my great grandmother. I've just published the second edition of this work.

In June, I published "Pet Lions & Well-Dressed Elephants, a Circus Journey to Greatness 1846-1873." This is a true historical fiction based upon the real lives of two people integral to the birth and success of the Greatest Show on Earth, the wardrobe mistress and her husband, the lion-tamer and menagerie manager.

I love mysteries, really good ones and true historical novels. There is just nothing like a good hunt in the archives routing out delicious tidbits about real human beings long gone from this earth. For example, one of my favorite discoveries was about an early tattooed man, James. F. O'Connell (link below)

https://publicdomainreview.org/collec...

I'm looking forward to finding good books on this forum to sink my imagination into.

Pet Lions & Well-Dressed Elephants: A Circus Journey to Greatness 1846-1873

https://www.amazon.com/Mattie-Price-F...

*I can't link Mattie's book on here because I've just published a second edition and it does not come up. Both print and ebook are available.

Writing is never about the money for me. It's about my need to share the wonderful things I've found. I simply love research! It's a treasure hunt!

I self-published one novel, a Holocaust thriller, "The Uniform," which I recently discovered has become a Book Life Prize semi-finalist and, in a rarity for self-published books was picked up for review by Publishers Weekly..

For all that, I still haven't figured out how to upload my book to Goodreads. I'd be grateful for any help with that.

Hi William,
i wanted to congratulate you on self-publishing your book. Now I have no idea if anyone besides yourself did any edits, but I wanted to show you what you should possibly have for your book description over on Amazon. Minor spelling errors and punctuation errors in your description will turn away a lot of readers because they will assume the book will have the same issues.

If you haven't heard of it you might want to check out grammarly dot com. It's free.

This is a suggested re-write. Without reading the story I am not able to offer up a better one for you.

"Whisked away to another world Eric finds himself in a land of magic and fantasy, and quickly discovers he has been plunged into a world full of monsters and dangers. Breaking free of a preordained fate means Eric must now carve out his own path and will have to face and overcome the dangers of this new, and unfamiliar, world.

Can he achieve his freedom or will he succumb to the dangers posed by the magic, monsters and men who rule these lands?"

Feel free to ignore my butting in!
Bec

P.S. I love the book's title!

I've been having trouble getting the author application approved for myself. I have three published books, all here on Goodreads, but for the life of me, when I claim them and supply the information on the application page, I still get rejected. I actually joined GoodReads about 3 years ago right after I self-published a somewhat preposterous (but still funny) children's picture book with my Daughter. I had intended to create more books in this genre, but life got busy (kids, family, and work). I've now created my second children's picture book with my son and am planning to be more active on here as well as creating more books. I really like creating picture books that tell fun and simple stories. Feel free to take a look at the books and any feedback would be appreciated:

Jonathon Robert Wright | 21 comments I have a passion for journaling and reading the Bible. Thus I produced journals to help people keep track of their progress. However, I now have written and published my first e-book, Celebrating The Wonder Filled Story Of Christ And His Early Life. My desire is to produce short stories of various portions of Scripture because the Bible contains one of the most exciting stories ever told. You can find out more about my work on my profile page. I have not mastered the art of posting links on goodreads yet. Thanks for having me.

Cheryl Fish (wwwcheryljfishcom) | 2 comments Vincent wrote: "Please introduce yourself! Do you write books? Do you just enjoy reading them?

Let us know a little bit more about who you are:"

Hi. I am Cheryl J. Fish, author of the debut novel OFF THE YOGA MAT from Livingston Press/UWA. I am also a poet and college professor who reads widely. This novel took me many years to write, rewrite and publish. I have an essay on that process on my website, cheryljfish.com
Here is the jacket copy for OFF THE YOGA MAT:
With age 40 looming, Nate, Nora, and Lulu find their lives unraveling, their aspirations dashed. Nate, dead broke, in his eighth year of graduate school delves into yoga. Nate's ex-girlfriend Nora finagles a position in Finland where she tries on men like miniskirts and embraces sisu, the Finnish concept of perseverance, in pursuit of motherhood. And yogi Lulu, Nate’s talented teacher, yearns to get to the bottom of her nightmares of childhood abuse as she travels to her hometown, New Orleans, to care for her ailing mother.
OFF THE YOGA MAT explores jealousy, bends of the body, and the courage to confront traumatic memory. The novel takes the reader on three risky coming-of-middle age journeys through sensuality, emotional evolution, and breathing deep.
And Some blurbs:
Cheryl J. Fish’s ingenious, smart, and witty debut novel follows three compelling characters as their lives and desires intertwine. On or off the yoga mat, these characters attempt to expand their emotional as well as bodily flexibility while battling jealousy, rejection, and the stranglehold of the past. Fish’s deep knowledge of yoga and of the psychological, geographical, and sensory terrain renders this ambitious novel absorbing and impressive. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop.
–Lee Upton, author of Visitations: Stories

Cheryl J. Fish's debut novel OFF THE YOGA MAT is smart, soulful, and surprising. I found myself deeply touched by the struggles of her flawed characters as they negotiate work, love, and dumpster diving. --Bonnie Jo Campbell, author of Once Upon a River
Off the Yoga Mat is an intricate saga of three lost souls journeying into the past, the present, and the future to cure ailments of the mind, the body, and the heart. Every page is a gift of wisdom and surprise, rendered in lush, poetic prose.
—Jonathan Vatner, author of The Bridesmaids Union

I would be honored to find new readers from this community.

Emily Mims | 4 comments Hi! I'm Emily Mims and have the first book in a new series coming out soon. I'm starting Bear's Brigade, my fourth contemporary romance series set in central Texas, this one involving a black ops team hidden among the instructors at Fort Sam Houston. I'm having a lot of fun with this series, as most of what I've written are straight romance and this series will involve quite a bit of suspense. The first story, 'Mission Treachery', will be available wherever digital downloads are sold. I'd love to connect with you and would love to find new readers in this community.

J.K. Keane | 4 comments Hi fellow Goodreaders,
new to this forum and trying to find my feet. I love reading. My favourite genres are children's books, fantasy and thrillers, but I read all sorts. I hope to join some of the groups and discussions to find more good children's books for those bleak winter evenings. I am very close to publishing my first children's book about a kitten that gets lost in a forest. It is a chapterbook (16000 words), comes with water colour illustrations and is aimed at young competent readers 6-9 years old (or as read together book for parent/child). As every debut author, I am hoping that some Goodreads readers might be interested to read an ARC of my book in exchange for an honest review. If you want a bit more info about myself or the book, visit my website www.jkkeane.co.uk

Well, the Journals were first designed as a way to encourage people to read and take notes in the Bible. Then I started with different topics such as a sports journal and a baby journal. However, my passion has been to eventually be a writer. I learned how to publish paperbacks on KDP. I may in the future develop a journal for a particular study but now there is not one. The journals were not selling and I found it easier to produce ebooks which is what I wanted to do in the first place.

L.H. Chevalier (lhchevalier) | 7 comments Greetings,
my name is... not English, so I use the pen name L. H. Chevalier.
I grew up on fantasy. I fell in love with the escapism it offers you. In the stories, you don't have to care about anything in the "real world". Well, until you can't hold your pesky bladder anymore. I needed this to get through those difficult years without going insane. (of which I'm still not entirely sure)
I'm 30 now. My approach to life has changed, but I still love fantasy. So my first book had to be fantasy, naturally.
My greatest hope is that someone out there (ideally human, but I don't discriminate) will find the same escape in my work. – albeit probably not in such a short book, but hey, it was my first time! I'll do better next time, okay? :)

Krista Cambers (kristacambers) | 4 comments Hi, I'm Krista. I'd been trying to write a book for about ten years. Nothing ever came of it for various reasons. Finally, this fall I managed to publish a book very near and dear to my heart. I went to work at a local convenience store a couple of years ago and fell in love with one of my regulars. He was a train-hopping runaway and we'd often make conversation in the store. We had feelings for each other but never admitted it until he realized he was dying of alcoholic liver cirrhosis. After he died I decided I didn't want anyone else to meet the same fate he did so I wrote our story and now the book is here. It was surreal when I first held it in my hands. I didn't want his death to be in vain and I started crying. I hope to write more in the future though I'm not sure when as I'm going through a health scare of my own right now and have no idea where that will lead me.

One of my goals is to get the book into rehabs someday.
