Fred Gracely | 3 comments I was so glad to find a group on goodreads that connects author with author and authors with readers and readers with authors, and well, you know the rest.

Me? I'm an author (and a reader). I'm launching my debut novel Misfit's Magic: The Last Halloween and out there pounding the digital pavement trying to connect and learn. Very happy about joining this group! Feel free to reach out if there is anything I can help you with. At this point, I've learned a ton about editing, book formatting, website creation, video production, book marketing, and all the other stuff that comes AFTER you've had all the fun writing the book. Looking forward to meeting new people!

Darren Frazer | 9 comments Hi,
I am Darren. I am a musician who decided a few years ago to attempt to write a novel. The task was so daunting, but I ploughed ahead with my idea and pretty soon I had the foundation for my book. "No Option."
I published it in the hope people would enjoy my ideas and characters. I would love to write more, but firstly I would love people's input as to whether I should. After all it is you the reader, that determines whether a novel is worthy of people's time and effort.
I will leave that up to you to decide. I would however, love to hear any feedback you feel relevant.... good....or bad. They all help.
You can find my book at:-

Anne Fox (user_annefox) | 1 comments Hi! My name is Anne Fox, and I'm the author of a stand-alone book called Gabriel's Call as well as a 23-book series (including the prequel) called The Unit. I'm currently working on a sequel series to The Unit called The Unit Gen2 and a spin-off series called The Investigators.

I'm also a voracious reader, and review everything I read, from children's books to heavy-weight textbooks. I especially enjoy crime/suspense/thriller and science fiction genres, but will read just about anything I can get my hands on.

I live in El Paso, Texas and travel throughout the country several times each year, seeing the sights and camping in my RV. I'm "kitty mom" to two Maine Coon cats, care for a colony of feral cats, raise chickens, and have a pond full of goldfish. I also enjoy gardening, rockhounding, and making jewelry from my rockhounding finds.

Happy to meet you!

message 20163: by Bill (new)

Bill Smoot | 2 comments I grew up in a small town in Kentucky, and I can trace my roots as a writer to my boyhood there.
I wrote my first essay because I had to. I was sixteen, our principal had just announced that President Kennedy had been shot, one of my classmates said, “I hope he dies.” Somebody had to take the speaker to task, and lacking a sword, I tried my pen.
Many years later, much has changed about my essays, but not their motivation. A tourist’s callous insult of ancient Greek culture, the soil in which Trumpism grows, the death of my mother, the way little kids play baseball now—I write about these because an inner voice says I have to. They are vessels for my hope, my worry, my care, my grief.
Some of my essays are analytic. I argue why The Catcher in the Rye is an important book to read. Some are love letters—to my mother, my students at San Quentin. Some are explorations without answers.
Most of my writing is fiction, short as well as long. Four years ago, I left my day job to devote all of my time to writing. I began a short story, and by instinct rather than intention, its setting was the time and place in which I grew up. So was the next story and the next and the ten that followed. That is not true of my novel-in-progress, but those stories are close to my heart in a special way.
Not only did my roots as a writer begin there, but my roots as a reader as well. My mother read to me, and my paternal grandmother entertained me with stories from her past—like the time the Klan rode up to her house and tried to intimidate her father for refusing to join. When I read today, I sometimes feel I’m listening for the voices of my mother and grandmother.
My writer’s website is https://billsmoot.net

Robert Lisle | 1 comments Hello all — I'm Rob Lisle, retired general physician living in South Carolina. I never really thought I'd actually start a book, much less finish it, but here we are. I've put the last full-stop on my first novel, Fatally Flawed, and now it's headed for the big wide world to read.

I don't know whether Fatally Flawed is a political thriller or historical fiction. It is a story about a seriously flawed US president in the relatively calmer years before 9/11 happened. My book is a What-if-this-is-how-it-really-went-down story. The early reviews have been beyond my wildest expectations. Apparently, it's not easy to put down.

For those who want to get an early read, I'd love to pass around the pdf, but with one condition — you agree to share feedback with me. Perhaps even a review, if you're so moved.

That's it from me. I'm thrilled to be in Goodreads and hope many of you will be my friends soon.

Rob

Kevin Manning | 3 comments Hello everyone. I have just self published my first Crime/Thriller novel "The Devil's Keep" which is currently free on kindle this week.

https://www.amazon.com/Devils-Keep-Ke...

I have always wanted to write but could never find the time, motivation and willingness to commit. It is a funny hurdle to overcome, as I know most of you have as well, but once you do it it becomes a bit of an addiction.

I am looking for ways to improve and become more involved in this odd community of storytellers and those who love stories. So please reach out. I would be happy to chat anytime.

Richard McCann | 100 comments Hi I'm the author of Two If By Sea and I'm wondering if any other authors are having the same issues with Goodreads as I am? My book had about 16 reviews and many more ratings. Somehow most of them have disappeared and now I'm down to 6 reviews and only 10 ratings and another page has opened up by itself where it has 1 rating on it? I've contacted Goodreads and they say they are aware of the issue and are working on it, but that's been over 2 weeks and still no progress!!!! Am I the only one to suffer this, this isn't good for book sales as most of the ratings and reviews were 5 STAR !!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Caroline most of my reviews are on Amazon and were on Goodreads but as you will see many of them on Goodreads have disappeared! There's only 6 left where there were at least 16 reviews so 10 of them have gone! Thanks for asking and hopefully you will want to read Two If By Sea by Richard McCann, use the title and my name in the search bar as there are a number of books, restaurants, and even a movie with the same title. When I named my book 20 years ago, there wasn't any books with that title! LOL
