Pb | 3 comments Hi everyone, I'm new here and desire to complete my first dream novel. I'm a life-long reader who favors historical fiction/non-fiction, philosophy, mystery, religious science and classical romance books. I used to edit online magazine part-time, worked full-time as a data consolidator, translator and other functions in communication field, currently a full-time home-base Tesol teacher trainer. Absolutely a pleasure to join the community. I'd be very delighted to learn more from you and your journey to become an author.

Luke Simons | 18 comments Hello! I'm an author/lyft driver/father/husband in ascending order of importance lol. The only reason being an author is so far down is because ... well bread costs money (an ever increasing amount of it), and at this exact point in time, authoring is providing very little of that (money I mean lol). Anyway, thank you for letting me in, I'll try not to muddy up the carpets, I promise (my wife has been working on getting me to take my shoes off ... thus far I can say she has been successful oh, maybe 2% of the time, but I am learning). Excited to be here, and excited to share and talk and discuss and offer, humbly, my stories, thoughts, ideas and idiosyncrasies.

Some of my goals in life are: learning another language, settling down in the countryside, becoming proficient in all wind instruments, and collecting books for my own personal library.

Simona Rosa | 4 comments Hello there from Bellingen Australia. A small, quaint town at the edge of the forest.
My name is Simona, I write, I have started my own indie publishing house, and am delving into the world of kindle.
I love to read self-help, references and anything I can learn from others. I have a great thirst for knowledge. I do love a good auto-biography, biography. And narrate short stories, letters and poems on the local radio here.

Hoping to learn from you all. And share some of the books our house is publishing.

I'm Kim and glad to join! I'm a scientist now for the Air Force, but I spent many years in India as a veterinarian running a charity for working animals in Old Delhi India. I also suffered from Bulimia and through my triumphs and trials as a vet in India I gradually recovered. I've written a book about this incredible experience that will bring joy and sadness and help those suffering from that illness I hope!

That sounds so interesting! I'd love to know more about your experience about writing a memoir. I've written one too about being a veterinarian in Old Delhi India running a charity for the working animals asking nothing but we see no acts of cruelty. It's taken a long time and is brutally honest and brings up lots of emotions. I'm wondering if your book did the same for you

Danielle Paquette-Harvey | 6 comments My name is Danielle Paquette-Harvey

I am a steamy fantasy romance author. (Indie author from Montreal) My books include werewolves and vampires, and many more creatures, like goblins, dragons, orcs, demons, nymphs, subbubi. (The list goes on.)

Romance is an important part of my books, but they're also full of magic and fantasy.

I write in English, and translate books to French (my first language).

I also enjoy reading books! I mainly read fantasy/romance novels. I try to support my fellow indie authors as best as I can.

Rosemary Mairs (rosemarymairs) | 19 comments Hello from Northern Ireland🙂 Writing and reading is my life! I drive my husband nuts talking non-stop about books, so in a last-ditch attempt to save my marriage I joined Goodreads! 😂

I read most genres, and also write fiction. My short stories have won awards and been published in anthologies. My debut collection A Recycled Marriage is out now.

Looking forward to making new friends and talking books, books, books!

Tony Kissel | 1 comments Hi Everyone,

I have written two non-fiction books and have a website tonykisselbaseball.com that is devoted to my baseball writing. I decided to write "Young John McGraw of Truxton" because his biographies had too many errors about his difficult childhood. My other book "The Legend of Wild Bill Setley" covers the 2 1/2 to 2 famous game he talked about as well as the potato trick and dozens of tall tales about his early days as a pitcher and umpire.

Thank you,

Tony

Matt Orlando (mattyobooks) | 13 comments I’m Matt Orlando author, screenwriter, and director. I like to diversify my books (Truncated: Apocalyptic and Loving It! & Migrant) and screenplays between humorous and serious so that I can taste stories of many flavors and characters, and so I don’t let myself get put into a lane. I like winding roads… with many forks. Who knows, maybe I just like getting lost.

Dani | 1 comments Hello! I'm Dani, and I'm new to Goodreads but not new to reading! I have been getting back into reading on a daily basis and have been devouring a bunch of books that have been on my personal to-read list for the last couple years. I also love to write, I don't have anything published (or plan to in the next couple years - at least), mostly short stories for friends/family and the odd fanfiction, but I have loved to write and plan novels since I was young!

message 20133: by Christian (new)

Christian D. Maddison | 13 comments My name isn't important right now, but I will tell you that I write short, edgy, emotional, impactful, powerful poetry and erotic romance stories. I write for people who have been hurt or are hurting emotionally and physically, overlooked by society, oppressed by the world, unseen as a species, and unheard by a nation.

My books will either take you on an emotional roller coaster or make you want to smoke even if you don't.
I'm not a love expert or guru; I only write from a personal standpoint and encompass all my feelings at that time.
Being open and honest through my writing allows others to be vulnerable and see themselves for the first time.

I only write about what I know, what I've experienced, and how I got through it all. If that helps someone, then I've done my job. If not, then I have more work to do. I know I won't make everyone happy or please the masses, but I'm here to speak my truth; however, it may come out.

I am a reverse mirror in a fun house. I am a two-sided door that leads nowhere. I am you, straight, gay, and everything in between. I am life, and I am pain. I am in conflict, and yet, I am conflicted. I am a prisoner but a victim of my own doing. A survivor of racism, sexism, colorism, fat and skinny shamed, and the like, without understanding that "None of the above" applies only if I'm thin and white. I am tall in my mind but short by nature. I am controversial, but no one's ever heard of me. I am a testimony with a test no one saw or wants to hear. I am free but barricaded in my mind. "I am who I am" and identify as "cellophane."

My name, is CDMadd

Caroline Miller | 21 comments Hello Aaron,

I was old when you were born! Here's a summary of the book. Let me know if you'd be interested in doing a review. Thanks for your reply:

Caroline Miller, teacher, lobbyist, labor leader, politician, artist, and author shares a candid account of her youth. The ink being barely dry on her college diploma from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, she follows her fiancé to England. Two years later, after struggling to adapt to life in a new country, the man she adores breaks her heart. Rudderless, she joins a friend headed to teach in Africa. The 1960s is an era when white colonial empires are struggling to maintain their grip on indigenous populations. By the time she arrives in East Africa, UHURU, the cry for freedom, ignites the land. Her coming-of-age story mirrors the struggle of new nations—a saga of surprise, suffering, and joy, markers along a road that began with heartbreak and lead to the discovery of human connection.
