I have always been a voracious reader, but never expected to be a writer. A Cowboy, A Ranch, and Love is my first novel and is available on Amazon. It is a modern-day Christian, western romance – wholesome, fun, and romantic. I hit the publish button on a Thursday, and received my Medicare card on Saturday. Stopping to count my blessings was the inspiration for this novel. My hope is that as people read this book, it brings a smile to their face and prompts them to thank God for the special people and blessings in their life. I live on an Angus beef cattle farm in Southwest Missouri. My faith, family, and friends -- along with the farm and my collie dog, Harley -- are what I thank God for every day. A line from this book, “a work in progress, brought to you by God’s Amazing Grace and Incredible Patience…” is how I view my life.
I encourage anyone considering doing something new, different, challenging after 60 - go for it.
Hello All! I am Sean Patrick Byrne and new to this site and am the author of The Psychopomps, my debut work of literary fiction. The Psychopomps
Sean Patrick Byrne
The book takes on serious themes involving suicide, addiction, violence, experimental forms of therapy and much more. Having endured rehab, therapy and the exhausting life of an English teacher, I finally finished this manuscript and secured a book deal after a last ditch leap of faith to see it published. While the content may appear heavy, I hope a reader finds it odd, funny and revealing. I mean, the use of schedule 1 drugs is bound to lead to strange places. You can read more about me and my book at: www.seanpatrickbyrne.com.
I am Lester Fisher, I have written a memoir that covers the 20th century from the time my great great grandparents homesteaded in Oregon to the time I returned from Peace Corps in Kenya. At age 75 I try to document the great changes in our society from the eye of individuals who lived through it.Happenstance

Jennifer and Ben,Most Goodreads discussion groups include a topic dedicated exclusively for authors to promote their work. Join the groups that suit your personal preferences. Promote your books only in those discussions specifically designated for promotion, join in the disussions on other topics to allow members to get to know you as a person.
You have both created the standard Goodreads Member Profile. I suggest that you replace it with a Goodreads Author Profile.
Do not aggressively solicit reviews or offer any type of compensation or reciprocation; such activity turns-off many avid readers. If a reader wishes to rate and/or review a book, they will. If they don't, they won't. Beware of those who aggressively offer to review your work; quite a few are scam artists.
Very few novice authors ever achieve comercial success or even nooriety within this extremely competitive field. That said; some have. There is no reason why you might not eventually become one of them. I wish you success.
Greetings and Hello! I am Kathy Haley Buhrman and a Goodreads author. I published Hear The Whistle, available on Amazon. https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/sho...
Happy to be here!
I also started writing after 60. It is wonderful to discover something so precious later on. What a privelage!
Hi Nicola, I was in my mid 50's when I knew, I just knew without hesitation, it was time to go after what I was passionate about. I was writing and researching. But honestly, I did not know I was going to write a story about my dad. That story in itself was not in my plans but unfolded in my new journey. So, yes, it is wonderful to be right where I am at this stage in my life. Ten years ago, I never thought I would be a published author and I look forward to the next twenty and what I might discover! It's never too late.

I look forward to all I will learn from all of you! gailmcguire@comcast.net

Hello All! My name is Greg and I've gone from teaching philosophy, running an online magazine, and doing audio dramas and podcasts to suddenly deciding to release a novel called 'Love Before Covid'. It's a book about love in the 21st century, and how confusing contemporary relationships can be. It's political, melodramatic and violent, a black comedy, a heart warming love story, and a puzzle book of dreams.
It contains three interweaving stories.
'Romance' is about a man called Joe who dumps his girlfriend Janet because she's been diagnosed as a psychopath. Despite being a psychopath, Janet may have been an amazing romantic partner. This becomes apparent when Joe's next girlfriend Loraine (who isn't a psychopath) turns out to be a violent, verbally abusive alcoholic. However, Loraine isn't all bad. She may be loving and trustworthy in ways Janet is not.
'Procreation' is about a lesbian couple called Eve and Alice who are deciding whether or not to have children. Eve insists she has no desire to have children, while broody Alice replies that Eve just has internalised homophobia. Alice thinks society wants only straight people to have children. Eve insists that queer people should have the right to be childfree, while Alice insists Eve has been brainwashed by the patriarchy into denying her maternal instincts.
'Sex' is about Lena and Davis, two women in Los Angeles who decide to meet for coffee after not seeing each other for four years. Both are quite talented writers in their early thirties. However, Davis shocks Lena by telling her she has quit writing to become a world famous online porn star in the space of two years. Davis has a bland husband named Ben who is unhappy with her new career, as well as a brilliant teenage son called Max. Max is angry that his friends can now see his mom having sex, and is giving Davis the silent treatment. As the conversation between Lena and Davis progresses, it becomes apparent that Davis thinks her husband and son should be proud of her for being a sex-positive role model who is liberating women. It also becomes obvious that Max's discomfort with Davis's porn may have a more disturbing explanation: he is secretly attracted to his mother, and hates himself for it.
Hello there fellow book lovers. My name is Maggie Toner, and in March of 2022 I published my first novel. It is called Orkney: a Novel, and is available on Amazon Books. My book is historical fiction and touches on five separate eras. The action begins in the Northern Scottish Islands of Orkney during the iron age. The second section takes place in Roy Bridge Scotland in about 1390-99. Then the action moves to Lismore, Ireland, circa 1499-1500. The fourth section is set at Chaffey's Lock on the Famous Rideau Canal and Waterway, in Eastern Ontario, Canada. And finally, the characters wind up in Fredericton New Brunswick in the 20th Century.
You could say simply that the book is about reincarnation; this would barely touch the tip of the iceberg, imo. Also figuring largely in the story are many beautiful and wise horses, many drawn from my own acquaintance.
I hope my post here meets with the group's approval.
Hi, I've written a self-help book titles "Focus for Success" and I'm really keen to get my thoughts out there.https://www.amazon.com/Focus-Success-...

My pen name is R.F. Whong. My book, Love at the Garden Tomb, a contemporary Christian romance, is available on Amazon. Here is the BACK COVER BLURB:

Constant interactions at Ohio State University bring two desolate souls together. Yet personal hardship and circumstances beyond their control, plus unresolved guilt and resentment, scatter them in different directions.
Years later, they run into each other again at the Garden Tomb in Israel. Under the spell of the Jerusalem Syndrome (a set of mental phenomena that involves religions, psychosis-like experiences), will they jeopardize their hearts again?
