Yes, I too would like to hear about your traditional publishing route. Be aware, however, that some of us readers are also writers and therefore we want to have our first names debated around kitchen tables like Elton, Prince, and Cher. Welcome!

I'm Asia, and I'm a major fan of YA fantasy! While YA fantasy is my favorite genre, I like anything YA. I'm not an author, but I'm more than willing to help authors I like! :)

I especially love historical fiction and am a genealogy addict. I have published over 20, books, however, I have decided to take most of them in a different direction, so I have been working on rewriting them over the past few months.

As an avid reader, I'm so thankful for Goodreads and am looking forward to being part of the Goodreads community :)

message 19265: by Timothy (new)

Timothy Grant | 1 comments Hey guys,

People call me Tim. Have written for many years now.

Books have always caught my attention, and my reading has gone through phases as I've aged. As a boy it was Calvin and Hobbes, Famous Five and Christian adventure tales. In my teens it was Fantasy and Historical Fiction. In my twenties it was memoirs and poetry. Now...more of the same, but I often flip open cook-books these days too...

I write every day- travel diaries, clever aphorisms, poetry, articles for small-time newsletters- but being 'a writer' was never something I aspired to do particularly: just something that grew within me. One could almost say I 'fell into it'. Sure, maybe I'll become 'officially' published one day; or maybe I won't. Que sera, sera, as Nan would say.

Recently, a family member has been writing seriously for a few years now. 'Space-Adventure' is the genre, I think we agreed upon. He has had a few reviews on Amazon and few readers have not been impressed.

So let me be frank here: I'd like to help him expand his fan-base. Plus, I could make more productive use of my screen time and re-connect with that past-time that had me so enraptured as a boy. Connecting with others who are engaging and discussing it could be helpful too.

What are people's thoughts?

I'm a relatively new author and trying to get the many stories in my head onto the page.
I released my first near future romantic drama in Mar 2020, my 2nd in Mar 2021 and have my third almost ready for a Dec/Jan release.

I love bringing my stories to life and giggling or crying to myself for my characters.

I also run a writing group, the shark tank and will be looking for new additions early in 2022. We send 10k words submissions in rotation for review and comment.

Looking for writing and reading friends to bounce ideas off each other.

Daniel’s perfect vision is challenged when he meets illogical and emotive Maria.

As the name implies, this is an educational story meant to introduce children to the five food groups and the basics of good nutrition. I believe that early introduction of such concepts can instill healthy lifetime behaviors in kids and motivate them to try new healthy, whole foods.

This is my first time on Goodreads. I'm hoping to meet others and find my way around!

Amos O'Henry | 9 comments Want to know what led to this latest fiasco by one of the World’s supposed oil and gas giants?
Read my book.
This article only describes a tiny part of what the crew went through over a three day period. Life offshore is hard and dangerous enough without the absence of working toilets, air conditioning, communication with land, lighting and showers, not to mention the stress and strain of mustering for over 10 hours.
I could write a second volume on the stuff that has been happening. Shame is a strong word but it perfectly describes the actions and inaction of the company who own this facility and have a responsibility for every crew member on board.

C.L. Brown (clbrown) | 5 comments Hi everyone,

I'm newbie to the author world. About three years ago, unfortunate events got me reading again. I've always been a fan of fantasy and horror. Books feed my need for them in ways I'd forgotten.

It didn't take long for me to think, "Maybe I can write a story."

I jumped head-first into the Urban Fantasy genre. It took 3 years before I had the nerve to share anything. In that time, I have written a story for BBB Publishings' Pure Magic Anthology and self-published: Fate-Bound: A Realm Killer Prequel Novella and Awakening: Realm Killer Book 1.

It's been one heck of a thrill ride. I'm constantly learning more and more about the craft (currently tackling marketing). I've met a lot of great people and hope to keep that trend going here. :)

Gina LoBiondo (ginalob) | 93 comments Hi, everyone! I need to clarify some things here so you all know what’s going on. Starting with posts by Henry, then Mona, Eugenia, Carolyn, Richard and Andrew – they are spammers! These useless pieces of human excrement have been harassing me since I started a thread in early summer about scammers. They have DEMANDED that I remove the thread or they will continue to rate my books with one star. They claim that they’ve written me asking for money back on my book. That’s a load of BS! I’m not giving money to anyone who never bought or read the book; that’s extortion! Sorry, but threatening and slandering me won’t get them anywhere! Goodreads kicked them off when this started but now it seems they are back causing more trouble. I am copying here the last 2 reviews for my Cinderella book to show y’all what the book really is. I don’t pay anyone to write reviews for me and have EARNED all 22 of my awards for my 3 books by working my tail off for more years than I can count!!!!!

Cinderella – A Love Story is written by Gina LoBiondo and illustrated by Donna Sterpe. It’s a re-telling of the classic fairy tale but with some twists. There’s still a handsome Prince and a young girl forced to be a servant, with a blossoming romance and a little touch of magic.

This book was a delight to read. The writer, Gina LoBiondo, has perfectly captured the soft and gentle charm of the main character, Ella. The backstory to Ella’s father and mother, Marie, is heart-warming, and the introduction of the new and mean-spirited wife, Vera, is spot on. Ella has two stepsisters who aren’t quite as nasty as the originals but are egged on by their mother to be cruel and unfeeling towards Ella. If the truth be known, though, they quite like her and are perhaps reluctant bullies. There is a nice twist with the introduction of a character who is the equivalent of the Fairy Godmother, which enhances the story in a perfectly delightful way.

Gina LoBiondo has a real gift in her storytelling which brings this version of the classic Cinderella tale to life in its own unique way. The characters are so well developed they create empathy and annoyance in equal measure, and the ‘voice’ of the story is perfect for the era and really transports the reader to another time and place. It’s like the magic pulls the reader into the pages of the book. The illustrations by Donna Sterpe are an enhancement to the overall reading experience as they capture the mood and dreamily reflect the period.

Cinderella – A Love Story is a joy to read and leaves a satisfied reader with the feeling that magic really does exist, and anything can happen if you truly believe. Chick Lit Café highly recommends Cinderella – A Love Story as written by Gina LoBiondo.

Kids Lit Book Café/Chick Lit Café
18 November, 2021

Cinderella -- A Love Story by Gina LoBiondo is a beautifully written re-telling of the classic fairytale, Cinderella. Set in the mid-16th century, the story follows, Ella, as she learns to grapple with the loss of her mother, integrate into the reality of a cruel, unfeeling family, and finally, meet the love of her life. The overall story is well-paced and compelling. LoBiondo’s writing style has been carefully crafted to offer commendable world-building and descriptive imagery that makes each scene leap off the page. The characters have also been re-invented in a unique way. At the core of the story is the endearing relationship between Ella and her mother, who becomes her fairy godmother after her death. The illustrations are a welcome addition and correspond with the scenes perfectly. Themes of family, love and loss pull the story together in a powerful way. For those looking for a fresh, imaginative take on a well-known classic, this book is for you.
