Seb Obrey | 1 comments Hi there!

My name is Sebastian, and I am merely 16 years old. I am writing my debut, which I hope to release soon! I really enjoy most genres, from horror, to fantasy, to slice of life. My own novel is a fantasy trilogy. I plan soon to submit to magazines, write for my local newspaper, etc. If anyone has any advice for me, I would love to hear it! I have joined this group to learn from those who are better than I am!

Hi Sebastian, welcome. The best advice I ever recieved as a writer was to join a critique group. My suggestion is to find one with all levels of writing expertise and a variety of genres. It is also important for the group to give constructive feedback. Good luck.

Tia Dhar | 13 comments Hi everyone. I'm Tia. I'm a new author. I just published two books. One is a mystery titled "Unfurling; A tale of friendship, love, mystery & mayhem", and the other one is a short book titled "Don't let your break-up be your break-down."

I am currently working on a contemporary romance.

Later on, I plan to stick to the mystery genre and focus on short stories.

I'm glad to be part of this group.

message 18761: by Faith (new)

Faith Dyson | 5 comments Greetings to all readers and writers! My name is (obviously), Faith. I'm a writer and artist and am all over the board in both categories - simply because there's too many good areas and techniques that draw me into the attempt to express them one way or another.

However, most of what I have to offer always falls into the classification of investigative journalism. But that's okay with me, because - as Sherlock would say: "Data! Data! Data! I can't make bricks without clay!" and so I have plenty of sculpting material for just about any genre that pops into my head from the fictional æther.

On that note - I've started quite a few novels and have files filled with outlines, most of which are based on real science - from a proven point of view rarely pieced together for the public.

I keep reading books about the same subject thinking someone else has beat me to the punch-line. But the good news is that they all just skirt around - MY - bombshell. So I'm still in the running for (at least), a one-hit-wonder.

Besides all of that - I also write poetry and would - on that proverbial 'Someday' - love to write and illustrate books for children.

When I'm not on the computer doing research, writing articles or wishing on stars for the magical words to convey 'The Unknown', you'll find me curled up with a real book in my hands. I still love the scent of ink on paper.

Grace Budrys | 1 comments My name is Grace Budrys. I'm a Sociology professor who has written books on the health care system and health policy. I want to take a break from the weight of that, so I'm turning to writing fiction. I recently published a dystopian novel that takes place in 2031 that predicts what it will be like when private sector organizations end up managing public sector resources like schools, water departments, fire departments, and so on. It's entitled: The Collapse of Society According to Dick and Jane. I am now turning to happier topics, namely writing murder mysteries. Wish me luck.

Fernando Pires (fpires) | 2 comments Hello friends! I'm 34, originally from São Paulo - Brazil.

It's a LONG history, but five years ago I was hired to work in the U.S. and arrived with just $200.00 and nothing else. My health wasn't great and my salary was quite mediocre. Well, that's all water under the bridge now, I have more than I could ask for in almost every way at this point—no complaints!

As a result, I wrote a book about how to jumpstart one's life from scratch. It's been three years in the making, and I'm ready to launch it by the end of this year. I seriously could use some help with the blurb and feedback from beta readers—hoping to find the incentive and the right people to cooperare here at Good Reads.

How can I go about sharing my content in the best / most appropriate way?

Nice meeting you guys!

E.S. Haggan (eshaggan) | 3 comments Hi, after over thirty years of policing the Northern Ireland Troubles I've self-published my first novel 'The Bitter End of Dreams' which is a character driven thriller into which I've poured aspects of my experience and knowledge. I've slightly tinkered with historical fact in a way that allows me to explore how toxic ideologies and sectarian hatred can destroy lives, while keeping the narrative logical and grounded. The novel is set in Belfast 1977. Currently writing book two which is set in 1983.

Many thanks

TCM Nancy | 1 comments Hey everyone!

I'm fairly new to goodreads; my old account from when it was brand new got lost in the mists of time. I'm back now as I've started doing what I've always wanted to do: write!

My first book is a collection of short surrealist stories - The Last Calico Cat (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0997SMSP9). Some are based on true events/dreams/thoughts, some are completely fiction. All of them will take the reader on a unique journey (and since it's a bit of an old art form, and doesn't usually appear in written form, there's a note on "how to best enjoy" at the beginning, too!).

I'm currently working on fiction novel (without the surrealism this time!) that will be full of adventure and Atlantis.

Amy | 1 comments Hi. I am a self published author of an unusual homeschool book. I launched my student to college several years back and used my “covid-quarentine” time to write the book!

Developing a Traditional S.T.E.M. Education: Middle School

It’s my story of home educating a highly gifted student in a time when it was rare to do so (late ‘90s). I used a traditional education method that set him on a path to Aerospace engineering. The book is unusual because while it is my story, it is also a book any parent can use to home educate their children using a traditional education method in today’s world. It’s filled with years of experience, humor and lots of resources.

Mike Trippiedi Hi everyone. I’m an independent filmmaker who had an idea that was bigger than my budgets, so instead of making the film, I turned my screenplay into my first novel, Once Upon an Ending. It’s a character driven story taking place two years after the earth has been destroyed by natural disasters. It’s a positive look at reshaping race, religion, and gender in a world starting over.

I would love a review, but more importantly, I’d just like people to read it. I hope you will consider doing that. Thank you.

Albert Cory | 5 comments My pen name is Albert Cory, real name Bob Purvy (you can find out what that's about at www.albertcory.io).

I have a new book, "Inventing the Future," historical fiction set in the Xerox Star effort, which I was a part of. Walter Isaacson had Steve Jobs talking about his visit to Xerox PARC, and while I wasn't there, I certainly knew about it. Now, people think they "know" that Jobs stole the graphical interface and mouse from Xerox, which is completely wrong.

Do you wonder what it was like to KNOW you're doing something important, but not know how the world will take it? My book puts you INSIDE the project, without any hindsight about it would all turn out.

This is my first novel. You can read almost 10 reviews of the book on Goodreads.

I write paranormal and urban fantasy, with a ghost-hunting series out now and a vampire trilogy coming... soon! (Working on the book cover now and will definitely LOVE feedback and opinions on that. I completely underestimated the importance of a good book cover with my last series. I know, I know... seems obvious.)

I’m interested in having genuine reviews. Where do I start? My first 2 books are about an Inspector and his friends/family connections plus 2 murders. They’re set in 1911. Inspector Billoughby is the main character.
My other book is a little grittier- County Girls Chronicles- set in 2015 thereabouts and focuses on Ria, a woman that goes through a terrible experience yet picks herself up to begin again.
