Hello Everyone,My name is Michael J. Scharen. I write science-fiction in the old-fashioned (not dystopian) way. Reviews have said hints of Robert Heinlein and Arthur C. Clarke!
I will be appearing LIVE on the PenForHire Podcast with Matthew Harms this coming Tuesday, July 27. 8:00 AM PST or 11:00 AM EST.
The interview will be streamed live on Facebook, Linked-In, and YouTube.

Hi, I'm Briar Campbell. I have a horror book, The Shadow School, coming out in October. It's through Draft2Digital, and I'm still learning the process of self publishing, but as soon as I can get a spot on Amazon, I'll provide a link for the group.I love horror stories and urban legends, and there's little else I've wanted more since middle school than to write my own horror books. My day job is at a library, and I read pretty widely.
I'm glad to meet you all.

Hi all! I'm Naila, from India. I've always liked reading books since my school days but I love writing more than anything else. For the last couple of years I've been working on a series ( fiction, adventure, magic, fantasy) and I'm looking forward to publishing the first book later this year, hopefully! Until then I'll be uploading a few snippets of my book ( dialogues and character description) I've been giving a good chunk of my time and life to this and this series is like a life project for me. All right, so I don't want to be all talk and no action :) Thank you :) !

I've read the synopsis to Rude Baby and it sounds intriguing. I have spent my entire adult life working in the live events industry, conventions, special events, and entertainment. I have earned a healthy disrespect for the general public, the people that would lead them, the people that would profit from them, and the people who would be idolized by them. The current political situation has only fueled my cynicism. Writing allows me to envision a better world where my characters can live productively.
My Books Are:
American Whoreson: 46k Words https://clublighthousepublishing.com/...
This book is historical fiction placing fictional characters in the midst of actual, documented historical events. It focuses on the life of the son of a whore. He is White, but his lack of a birthright denies him the entitlement of being White. He will find himself on the wrong side of history several times. This book takes place between 1884 and 1890, ending with the massacre at Wounded Knee. CRT Trigger Warning
May You Meet a Stranger: 84k words https://clublighthousepublishing.com/... is the first in the Logger’s Ridge series.
A young pianist and his new-found singer girlfriend use their music to rescue a historical resort from bankruptcy and reverse the economic downturn of their small town while falling in love.
Welcome Home Doc: 54k words https://clublighthousepublishing.com/... the second book in the Logger’s Ridge series is focused on Lenny’s story. It is a parallel story set in the same location with minimal crossover. A pediatrician fresh out of residency returns home to join his parents’ medical practice. The challenges he faces have less to do with medicine than with life and love.
Home on the Ridge: 130k words https://clublighthousepublishing.com/... the third book in the Loggers Ridge Series, Citizens of two small towns have overcome significant hurdles to recover from a series of economic disasters. Their hard work is paying off, and they see a bright future ahead. Hard work and buried secrets still lie before them. Recently revealed secrets are addressed, and the community prepares to move forward. The global pandemic hits this small town hard. Building on the ashes of a previous community, the medical teams seek to protect its most vulnerable members as the world blows up in their faces. COVID brings the world of Logger’s Ridge to a screeching halt. Only the strong survive.
Butcher Boy Rebellion: 26k words https://clublighthousepublishing.com/...
Standing in the blood of the man who tried to kill him, the boy, almost a man, froze, horrified at what he had done. The head, separated from the body, lay face down in the forest undergrowth. Blood flowed from the open neck onto the mat of decaying leaves. There had been no time. There had been no time to think. No time to plan. Only one would walk away from that confrontation in the woods. The boy had gotten the better of this man who had killed many before him.
Fifty Year Tryst: 137k words, https://clublighthousepublishing.com/...
You know it’s going to be a bad day when the police chief calls in the middle of the night, barely containing his laughter, to ask you to meet him at child services. In an old man’s worst nightmare, the FBI drops two little girls, products of a fifty-year-old tryst, into the custody of a retired small-town attorney while exploiting their mothers for an investigation into an international crime syndicate. While not apparent from the start, this book is about gun rights.
One Wounded Pilot:74k words, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CG4XL7W
US Army Warrant Officer Second Class Rachel Levine suffers from burns to her face and shoulder. Her leg and wrist have been broken. She has spent the last few months in Army hospitals before being allowed to return home. She suffers from the types of stress disorders one would expect of a combat veteran, but the burns on her face have scorched more than her skin. They have made her question her understanding of herself.
Rookery Island: 320k words, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0139RRDSC
“Rookery Island” consists of the combined four works of the Stu Greene series. Stu Greene is a high school junior on the cusp of the transition from amateur to professional photographer. Skilled and creative, his photographs are routinely published in newspapers and are proudly displayed in local offices. He “accidentally” encounters a girl for whom he takes on a project to create a wild bird rookery from a large drainage pond adjacent to their high school. That chance encounter changes not only their lives but those of their families and friends as the young man carries them along in his drive to create a lasting monument of his love.
My Three Warlocks: 77k Words, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B010WS6APS
Three Warlocks, brothers, triplets, run a ranch where they train horses for cowboys and cattle ranchers. They use their special powers to keep their ranch solvent and, despite the recent death of their adoptive mother, are content with their lives. All that changes when a pre-teen equestrian shows up with her father to buy a horse. On the same day, triplet witches and their mother are directed to the ranch by a mysterious stranger.
Cowgirls and Dragons: 159k Words, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079DCLBLK
It seems that Vampire killers get no respect. One would think that protecting people from a race that would suck them dry and throw the desiccated husks on the street would earn some respect. One would think that converting large mythological beasts from enemies to allies would earn some gratitude. One would think that healers who use more than medicine along with their medical training, could practice without fear of exposure. Such is not the case.
Second Tango: 63k Words, http://www.amazon.com/dp/1499343353
The short book “Second Tango” explores the idea that a jerk can be a visionary can do nice things for people, and can make a positive difference even as wolves nip at his heels. It features a retired arts center manager who risks his life savings to open a dance theater to avoid an early death from boredom. It is the story of a visionary who would deny his importance and the people who believe in his vision even more than he does. His goal is not to change the world, but to make his self-centered world slightly less lonely.
Flying with Fairies: 141k words, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TCZC19W
This new release includes all four volumes of the “Flying with Fairies.”
A beautiful pregnant fairy princess abducts a recent med school graduate who possesses paranormal healing powers and conscripts him to save her people from a mysterious affliction. Recognizing that his only way out is through helping the princess’ people, the fledgling doctor applies his skills and powers to the task. As he heals the fallen and shows the leaders the path they must take, he realizes that something missing from his life has only been an arm’s length away. He returns home intent on forgetting his adventure. However, a chance encounter with a woman he once loved, and the arrival of one of his comrades in arms, ensure that his life can never be as it once was. It is a tale of combat and resolution, but most of all, it is about awakening love in an uncertain world.
Solomon Family Warriors: 490k words, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0068BWHWY
This book includes all eight volumes of the “Solomon Family Warriors” Series. It follows seven generations of a space-traveling warrior family as they attempt to wrest peace from the grasp of war. The Space Force essentially gave a band of people with recognized psychopathic homicidal tendencies a license to kill and the weapons with which to do it. The Force did not have high expectations of the pilots’ survival rate. Still, two of these killers, only slightly more ethical than the pirates they hunted, took their warships and went into hiding to raise a family. When their enemies found them, they discovered defenses built by the most brilliant students ever to disgrace the Space Force Academy. Successive generations of this family carried the teachings with them as they battled religious zealots, slave traders, corporate raiders, and many of the same pirates their parents had faced. This book is the story of five generations of a space-traveling family who would prefer to be left alone.
Stagehands Walk: 250k words, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D7W5WTC
Set against the backdrop of the arcane world behind the scenes in the live entertainment industry, “Stagehands Walk” is an action story about two men and the people they care for as they deal with threats both to their lives and their livelihoods. The book opens as a long-forgotten foe threatens Quentin Xavier O’Donnell and forces him to take on a risky task. The task is interrupted, and O’Donnell finds himself in the middle of a conflict over possession of nuclear secrets. Enlisting the aid of two of his colleagues, he attempts to accomplish his original mission only to discover that his mission is much more complicated than he thought. Determining that the task he was assigned is not appropriate, using his talent and skills learned “back stage,” he delivers those who threatened him to justice at considerable personal risk.
Seeds of Anger: 41k Words https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GR4SN7Y
A renegade botanist hunted by eco-terrorists takes a brilliant high school junior to be his protégé. The boy’s police officer father has been killed in the line of duty, and his mother is dying of cancer. The property that the botanist has taken over had been in the boy’s family for three generations before recently being split up for development.
The Adventures of Doogie Stone: 75k Words https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004ISKJTC
The Adventures of Doogie Stone is an alternate history as America might have been if the eleventh and twelfth century Scandinavian and Irish explorers had settled as far south as Cape Cod and then abandoned their colony for two hundred years. It is the coming of age story of the youngest son of a warlord who faces the attempted invasion by the British. It follows him as he discovers his place in society and wins the heart of the woman he loves.
Swamp Witch: 34k words, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004NBZDB8
A young woman survives an attempt by her father to kill her by feeding her to alligators a few days before her eighteenth birthday. The alligators turn on the father as a mysterious middle-aged woman who has taken refuge in the swamp rescues her.
Our Last Summer Musical: 70k words, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D7TX5N0
An amateur community theater summer music provides the vehicle that brings three teens closer to being adults and forces their parents to reveal and own up to their darkest secrets as the Rubinstein family rallies to the aid of a summer theater program gone badly astray.
The story reads quickly and would be suitable for high school students as well as adults.
A Father’s Ghost: 29k Words https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HYRL2LM
A geeky young owner of a small Boston electronics store has his life turned upside down when he visits a woman’s apartment down the hall in search of food for a stray kitten he has just picked up. The woman’s sister embroils him in a vendetta against her father’s hate crime murderer and drafts him into her small task force using social networking, the Internet, legal, and “extra-legal” assistance to track and trap a serial rapist who targets single mothers with small children. Some things are what they seem, and some aren’t.

I am still somewhat of an unknown but first time published poet and short story writer since May 2021. Born and raised in NW Ontario and currently retired and settled in Eastern Ontario. I had a full thriving career as a police officer and did a few years in the military. I struggled with alcoholism, sexuality, and workplace harassment. The third oldest of seven children also dealing with family trauma and loss, but still able to have a positive outlook and contribution to society, after maintaining 39 years of sobriety. I managed to share my sometimes shocking and heartbreaking personal memoir in my book. It's my life in short stories that rhyme. I am very proud to finally say, "I'm an Author". Blame it on Betty

Hi everyone, Simon Brotherton here. I've been an avid reader all my life, and I just love the escapism that it brings. A while back, I began working on my own project, Whisper Wood and I'm proud to say it's now available on Amazon for Kindle: https://amzn.to/3fezjFn It's a mystery thriller with a twist of the paranormal!
Hello everyone,I'm Jason McWhirter and I just joined and thought I'd say a few words about myself. I've always been an avid reader...mostly fantasy and action books. The love for reading led me down the path of writing. I started off writing screenplays with my brother who was in LA acting. That love turned into self publishing my own books right when technology made that a possibility. I've been writing ever since.
I'm a history teacher of twenty five years who spends his time with his wife and dogs, camping and RVing, working out, building things, and fly fishing all over the Pacific Northwest. I have eleven books to my name so far, nine of which are fantasy books. I have two other books available, one loosely connected to my teaching and coaching experiences, the other a story of love, loss, and healing, the backbone of the story the sport of fly fishing.
I'm excited to be a part of the group:)

Key to ManifestationHi Everyone,
I am Sajal Mishra, an engineer by profession and a law of attraction practitioner since last 10 years. Writing is my passion but I never thought that I would be able to write a book.
But in this pandemic, I saw many people losing hope and giving up, which disturbed me a lot. I wanted to let people know about the power of hope and how powerful their thoughts are in shaping their reality.
Although I am an introvert who doesn't want anyone to know about me. But I have written a book titled "Key To Manifestation" in very simple words which is all about how my life. How I used to feel miserable due to my limiting beliefs and complained about my circumstances all the time. And then how I encountered law of attraction and it changed my life.
Today internet is flooded with tons of knowledge about law of attraction. But this book is different because it contains 9 stories from my life about how I manifested health, wealth, adventures and relationship through some unique techniques.
That's all about me and my book. I wish all the best to all of you reading this post. Keep reading and keep shining.

Throughout the chaos of misinformation and the fact that anyone with an internet connection these days can start a blog and write potential misinformation. My mission is to help people discern truth for themselves so we can become less divided.
Other than that I love writing and loving building applications, tools, code and going surfing with my faimly.

Greetings all. My name is Frank Settineri I started writing when I was staying overnight in hotels during business trips. My first novel, “In the Shadows of the Oaks” was written to show how the deplorable conditions in inner city schools has been created, and perpetuated, by corrupt politicians. My second novel “The Phantom” was inspired after I read an article about a paint so black that it absorbs almost all the light that strikes it. I wondered what would happen if the paint was further developed to became a black hole, and voila, my story was born. My third novel, "Fearless" is nearing completing. It is a heartwarming story told through an adventurous cross country road trip to meet the widow of Vet who was killed in Vietnam; it pays tribute to the Vets from WWII, Korea and Vietnam. When not writing I love to read almost anything, although I am particularly fond of historical novels, initially inspired by John Jakes and transitioning to James Michener and Ken Follett. I've also found some great historical authors through Goodreads, such as Gail Meath, MJ Pettengill and Stephen P. Keirnan. To me, historical novels are the most difficult to write and one day I hope to hone my skills enough to write one. Thank you so much and Happy Reading.
Hi Sally,Thanks for the shout out. You're website is remarkable - I'll check out your novel once I get my Nook working again. That's a story for another day (do I sense a novel here?). lol

Hi everyone,
I'm a new author (KDP paperback and e-book), and new to Goodreads. I read a lot of non-fiction but I've always had an interest in good novels - by which I mean well written ones that are also not only entertaining but informative on a deeper philosophical and psychological level. I try to read one such novel per month, mostly from a public library.
Recently, I've made my own efforts as a novel writer with the above aspirations and given birth (via KDP) to a 720 page heavyweight novel called "Flower in the Dark". It took me three years to write it and was in some ways a life-changing experience.
Next hurdle: trying to get someone to actually read it!
All I can say is that I, at least, thoroughly enjoyed the book.
I'm interested to see if anyone else does.
