K. M. (kiraleigh_author) | 2 comments Hi y'all,

My name is K. Leigh! I'm a new author, trans dude, freelancer, gamer and painter. I sincerely don't know how Goodreads groups work, have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm looking to find both new cool books to read [adult age range, fantasy, sci-fi, and horror] and also connect with readers who like 90s-flavored LGBTQ+ sci-fi stories.

Apologies if I make a misstep in orienting in this space; I had no idea Goodreads even had communities, and am eager to find great books to devour and also make some cool friends <3

Grover (authorgrover) | 6 comments Hey there,
I am from Houston, Texas originally, but now live and work in the Upstate of South Carolina.
Beyond a thesis and dissertation, I never wrote anything of significant length.

My son-in-law wrote a book last year and got me thinking about my bucket list item to write a novel. Thank you J. Mills, for the inspiration to get started on this dream project.

I always told my wife I wanted to spend the summer in a cabin writing. It appears I did not need to do that. The Covid quarantine provided enough solace to engage those creative areas I've wanted to exercise for so many years.

I have to tell you. The process was MORE satisfying than I thought it would be. I am hooked. Lookout world. I have a million ideas and only a short time (relative to what's left of a lifetime) to unpack, distill, and distribute them.

Thank you in advance for your patience reading this extended intro... and my book, which should be in print next month. :)

For now, we have the eBook.
Level-Up with Game Assist

Thank you, J. Mills, for the inspiration.

J.J. Franks | 1 comments Hello everyone! My name is J.J. Franks and I published my first book 'Saving Ian' in January of this year. Currently, I am finishing my second book, which will be releasing this summer. Along with the second book I have several episodes loaded and waiting for the launch of Kindle Vella. I love to read, write and garden. I am always available, and willing, to do reviews for others. Next month I am hoping to have my readers mail list built up enough to begin my monthly newsletter. One feature I am excited about is my Indie author spotlight. I've read so many great books by new up and coming authors and getting your book in front of an audience is hard. I'm pretty new to this and tend to babble, clearly. Saving Ian

Ricky Ginsburg | 4 comments I am an addicted writer. Days that I don't write, I read, but only if I'm sitting on a beach, and then I'm an addicted reader. I began writing in 2006 with short stories and have had over 200 of them published. In 2010, I self-published my first novel - "A Tasty Murder" - and then a few years later, two more: "Sushi, Burgers, and Rocky Mountain Oysters" and its sequel: "When Life Gives You Beef, Make Burgers." All three of which are available through Amazon and B&N.

The first book in my murder mystery series - "The Blue Macaw" - was published by Black Rose Writing in September 2020, followed by "Shooting Limpkins" this past April and "Clouds Full of Ravens" this December. Three more books in the series are finished and awaiting their place in the Black Rose queue, and I'm busy writing number seven.

But the big release, by Black Rose Writing, will be "Boulong's Cheese," coming out September 30th. This post-Covid satire is destined to become a NYT best-seller. (The good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise.)

Mike Lees | 15 comments Hi Vincent, and everyone in this group which brings together the reader and the read. Well done.

I am an author and have four books here on Goodreads. My first interest in books was an adventure and especially Science-Fiction. However, as a tree grows, I now delve into Self-Help but through fiction. Being an NLP practitioner, the psychological aspects of our society are both important and interesting. My books, The Fox and Albia demonstrate certain aspects of our reasoning or feelings within a world many find difficult.
Check out my books under my name.

Teresa Vale | 9 comments Hello everyone, I'm Teresa Vale.
I am thrilled to have found this group. I am a writer, and I've just published my first book, Love Secrets Lies. http://www.lovesecretslies.com/

I've worked all my life in the financial sector and this book is the culmination of a lifelong dream. It's loosely based on my life experience, leaving my homeland Mozambique for Portugal after revolution broke out in 1974. I've lived in Lisbon ever since.

Love Secrets Lies by Teresa Vale

So let me tell you about my book.
Love Secrets Lies begins when Teresa’s childhood in Mozambique is shattered by revolution and terror. The family gives up their house and most of their wealth, and flees to 1970s Portugal, a country facing social and political upheavals of its own.

Now Teresa finds herself in a new school, trying to fit in and make friends. At the same time, her grandparents want to vet all her friendships and eavesdrop on her phone conversations — and as a teen, she finds herself a prisoner of 19th-century morals.

Behind her grandparents’ backs she learns to live and make mistakes. Dreaming of a knight in shining armor to whisk her away to some magical kingdom of romance, Teresa navigates a world of real boys where she rises to the height of emotion and plummets to the chasms of pain and heartbreak.

From tropical Mozambique to drab, 1970s Lisbon, from the the golden beaches of Durban to five-star holidays in verdant, mountainous Madeira, and even the Moroccan kasbah, Teresa stumbles and falls and picks herself up again, fighting for her freedom and autonomy, for the boundaries of her body which she alone can determine.

Ooh, nice site, nice covers, and more importantly, pretty interesting sounding books. Congrats on the new one. It sounds like a lot of fun. The indiebooks network you publish with sounds interesting, too. I like the idea of small businesses cooperating, and it's nice to see how professionally they can do that. Anyhow, hope the new one does well.
