David Hernandez (dghg) | 3 comments Greetings, my name is David and writing is my passion.

I'm the author of Outlanders: Malefactor, The First Of The Fallen, which is the first book in a duology that chronicles the misadventures of an apostate interstellar traveler searching for meaning. In his quest, the traveler inadvertently uncovers the fall and subsequent rise of a being of pragmatic villainy that now threatens the entire universe's existence. A PDF version is available for anyone who would like to review it, with the promise, of course, to write a review. If interested, you can send me a private message.

Eva Moon (evamoon) | 7 comments Greetings! I'm Eva Moon. I'm just about to send my first Magical Realism novel to my editor and have started writing my second. I've been an internationally-produced playwright, optioned-screenwriter, and touring songwriter, but these days all I want to do is tell stories (and read them).

I have a brand new FREE story on my website: "Betweenest" is about a young girl who escapes her world through the thinnest of all gaps – the one between the past and the future.

I'm looking forward to meeting both readers and writers here. It can be a lonely business!

Suma (Love books and live books) (loveandlivebooks) | 29 comments Hello,
I am Dr M K Sumangala (pen name), basically a doctor of medicine, I love books. I am a voracious reader. Took a voluntary retirement at 45 to pursue my passion for writing fiction. Published my first two books in the past year. Available on Amazon as both paperback and Kindle ebook

1. MYSTIC SOULS OF THE SPIDER-TRIANGLE - a mystery-thriller with lots of adventure and a touch of horror.

Description:
When her good friends Steve and Robert become the latest victims of the Blackrock crossroad accidents, Zara Derek, a nineteen-year-old, amateur investigative journalist is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery. Zara is already intrigued by her own paranormal experiences and the “hauntings” which are allegedly responsible for the several accidents at the same site in the past year.
As she begins exploring the woods near the Blackrock crossroad with the help of her boyfriend, John, and his school buddy, George, they stumble upon the Spider Triangle with its convoluted, mysterious trails and uncover an eerie web of horrifying occurrences that challenge their very sanity.
Can they believe their eyes? Does the supernatural really exist? Will Zara and her intrepid friends get to the heart of this horror mystery against all odds?

2. SHADY AFFAIRS AT SPRUCE-JUNGLE- a suspense-thriller with a glitter of romance, lots of adventure, a little spirituality, miracles with an ecstatic ending.

Description:
Jacob has arrived on Mount Jett, on a secret task assigned to him by a taskmaster. He meets Olivia under strange circumstances. He is attracted to her and agrees to provide her shelter in his cabin, but on one condition, which she readily accepts.
During her stay in Jacob’s cabin on the mountain, Olivia experiences suspicious occurrences and encounters intriguing situations. She is freaked out and worried for herself and Jacob.
What is Jacob’s secret mission? Is Olivia in safe hands? Whom is she running away from? Does she stick to the stipulation? Is she able to cope with the unexpected, mysterious and thrilling kinks and twists that follow, defying all stakes?

I've been reading SF since Junior school (wow - that was about 47 years ago!) I've always loved hard SF like Clarke, Asimov and more recently Baxter but I'll try most things. Also been writing for the last 15 years with a little success in short stories and one novel.
I ran an environmental field centre for years so am attracted to SF ideas with a biological / ecological spin.
Any suggestions?

Say, can anyone tell me how long it takes goodreads.com to approve someone as an author? I listed five books here a couple of days ago, a I wrote them all last year but only now have my website up to promote them. Is it an unwritten rule that only those who sell on Amazon can get any exposure? I am self-publishing and selling my own works. I hope that is not going to be used against me. Here are trailers I just made for my first two and the other three will follow soon.

Being a self-published author isn't an issue. However, publishing a book, joining Goodreads, and listing books on here, is not enough in itself to have you automatically listed as an author. You have to click something on the page for your books that asks if it's you. If you have done that, it should get approved in a few days. Exactly how many can depend on what else whoever monitors those has to do, though Amazon is fond of giving "3 to 5 business days" as the number of days it takes to do most things, even though it sometimes takes less days than that, and can also take more. I'd give it a week after you click the thing on the author listing for your books, and consider contacting Goodreads if it's still not approved at that point.

Marcus Holmes (marcusholmes) | 1 comments I am a classically trained musician and often draw from my experience in musicianship when writing. An M.A. in education and decades of experience teaching has informed the composition of his How-To resources. I reside in the U.S. with my tabby cat Solace, who refuses to take dictation and is a terrible speller anyway.
I'm the author of two poetry books, a How-To series on writing poetry, and a novel, "Don't Eat the Garnish."

Hey there regarding the author thing I JUST went through this. 1) I manually added my book to goodreads. That was easy. 2) Knowing I needed to prove it would be published, I first published my book on Kobo, with a preorder available. However, I got declined by goodreads even though I provided a link showing the kobo live. Thinking it was a mistake, I did it again, and explained it. Rejected again. 3) I finally got it to work ONLY after I uplaoded the book on Amazon with a pre-order. I didn't love this idea, as I was hoping to keep the pre-order shorter, but it was the only way it got me accepted by Goodreads. There may be other ways, but this is the one that worked for me. Good luck!

Paul Kimball | 1 comments Greetings. My name is Paul Kimball and I have written a memoir on my adoption called: We are all Human Beings/An Adoptee Ponders. It is raw, truthful and provides insight into what it is like to be adopted. I am a French Horn player and my birthmother was a cellist. I was obsessed with the cello years before I met her and learned that she was the reason for my cello obsession. I heard it in the womb. I met my Armenian birthfather who's first words were "Son, I love you." Many people read the book in one sitting. If you are connected to adoption, or just curious, my book will help enlighten by following one person's story.

Parthena
Just to let you all know.
My novel Parthena will be on promotion from 17th March 2021 at 8am PDT until12am PDT on the 24th March 2021. Original price $6.63 - Reduced to $0.99. And 8am GMT until 12am GMT on the 24th March 2021. Original price £5 - Reduced to £0.99.

Parthena is a Western, adventure/mystery - that links Victorian London and the Jack the Ripper murders with the Wild West of Wyoming.

Gen. James Cambridge flees his London home at the times of the Jack the Ripper murders, after his wife is found murdered and his house burnt to the ground. He is suspected of murdering Parthena Cambridge.
James’ brother Michael is suspected, not of Parthena’s murder, but of the possibility that he is actually the Ripper.
After Parthena is murdered, James disappears to Wyoming, in America’s wild west.
Some years later, the General, now the owner of a ranch called ‘Parthena’, is living a life of mystery. He is now married to a Cheyenne girl who is virtually the same age as his own daughter. His wife Tantra has a son called Jamie, a half Cheyenne, half white youngster.
And then there is the notorious Ben Denver, working as foreman of the ranch. Denver is an ex-hired gun, fast on the draw and a man with a difficult past that is slowly coming back to haunt him.
Things change even more, when Victoria Cambridge, the General’s estranged daughter, turns up with her fiancé, Robert Mason, to see her father punished for what she believes is the murder of her mother. Richard Gleeson, owner of the town’s saloon, is a man intent on owning Parthena for himself and like Michael Cambridge, determined to wreak vengeance on James.
Is it a coincidence that when Michael Cambridge leaves London to track his brother down in Wyoming, the Ripper murders stop? How did Parthena Cambridge really die?

Sue Smethurst | 1 comments Hi from Australia. My name is Sue Smethurst, I'm a journalist and author of nine non-fiction books and new to the wonderful world of Goodreads.
My latest book The Freedom Circus has just been released in Australia and will be on shelves in Europe later this year.
This is a deeply personal, true story of how my husband's grandparents survived the Holocaust.
Kubush Horowitz was a clown with Poland's famous Circus Staniewski. After the occupation of Warsaw, the circus performed for the Germans and while the Nazis laughed, they lived.
They were hiding in plain sight.
Using the cover of the circus my grandfather-in-law orchestrated a death-defying escape from Poland, and embarked on an epic journey across Russia, the Middle East, Italy and Africa, before Australia became their home.
It took five years to research and write their story and I'm so thrilled it's finally in book stores. It is a remarkable, heart-warming and inspiring story which sheds a whole new light on the Holocaust.

Early reviews have been fabulous:

'A story of extraordinary bravery, resilience and love that needed to be told.’
Heather Morris, author of The Tattooist of Auschwitz

‘We haven’t had a WWII book with this much potential in years,’
Ruth Ellis WH Smith

‘ What endures most throughout The Freedom Circus us an abiding sense of love,’
The AU Review

If you loved The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Eddie Jaku's stunning memoir The Happiest Man on Earth or Diane Ackerman's beautiful story The Zookeeper's Wife, you will enjoy The Freedom Circus.

I have a small number of review copies I'd love to give away. Hit me up if you're interested! I'm happy to mail anywhere in the world. Email me - sue@suesmethurstmedia.com first in best dressed!
