Thank you Brian. I was actually introduced to Goodreads by a friend of mine, Tracey Allen who was so instrumental in editing and publishing my book. Tracey has opened me up to a world of books that I never knew existed. A book experience for me was always a long browse round a bookshop! I never knew it went so deep. I am intrigued to learn more!

Thank you for having me!

I grew up in the wilds of Albuquerque, New Mexico enjoying the unique terrain of the southwest region and experiencing many wonderful visits to Pena Blanca and hiking the Tent Rocks. Those memories along with my imagination and love for writing all came together after 30+ years when I recently accomplished getting my fiction novel (Doodlebugs) out of my head and self published. Thanks to my father who always told me, "Never give up, never surrender."

Henya Drescher (goodreadscomhenyadrescher) | 12 comments Greetings everybody! My name is Henya Drescher and I write psychological thrillers. There's something about getting into my characters' minds and see what makes them tick. My debut novel is scheduled to see the light of day on March 18, 2021. I'm happy about it, but also feel overwhelmed by everything that goes along with media promotions.

I'm looking for readers to read my novel for free in exchange for posting comments about the book on Goodreads.

Other than writing, I love to lift weights, spin, garden and drive long distances.

Mark Forrest | 1 comments Hello there. My name is Mark Forrest and I am a self-published author of two Young Teen Adult books. If you like horror, H.P.Lovecraft, M.R.James and horror movies from the Universal Classics up to present day - you might like the books I write! The first book is The Haunted Mansion, it is free for downloading wherever you can find it. And if you fancy reviewing it as well, that would be great.
Take care everyone, and I look forward to being part of this group.

Kevin Albin | 36 comments In 2011, I wrote Stonechild, a story where the statues of London come to life with a serious message on conservation. Of course, we don't listen and the battle for London begins. I was a police officer on a tactical firearms unit in the UK, and then became a guide working on conservation, and so I drew on those two experiences.

The statues make use of their history, threaten to release a deadly smallpox virus and resist being pulled down by waging war in Trafalgar Square that the police seem powerless to stop.

Back in 2011, the book didn't go anywhere and the recent confinement gave me the time for a complete rewrite and to self publish. Being a big believer in synchronicity, it is as if the time is just right now.

Stonechild

My name is Jessica Heart, and I am a romance author. I started writing recently as I didn't know there are such platforms like amazon I can publish my books on. Anyway, I am portraying stories that swirl around in my head and sharing them with others, and dear you readers as well.

I appreciate if you go and leave a review on amazon if you like them. if you don't, I would more than happy to see what's wrong and what makes you more satisfying story, so that I can include more elements in my books.

I hope you enjoy your time and be well in this harsh time.

Best wishes,

Crystal Allen | 9 comments Hi, I'm Crystal Allen. I enjoy reading great novels or any books that are truly interesting, like Malcolm Gladwell's treatises on modern sociology, or something like 'The Witches,' Stacy Schiff's well-researched take on the Salem Witch Trials.
I also enjoy writing. Right now I'm interested in Europe's Reformation era, aka the 100 Years War, that horrific European civil war between the Protestants and Catholics that virtually no one talks about, even to this day.

Morella | 2 comments Hi,
My name is Morella E. Carta. I am a first time author. I like to read but never thought about writing a book. I started a journal that later became a book. I retired from Corporate America, specifically in Human Resources, about 5 years ago. For reasons unknown to me, I ended up volunteering in Malawi and Uganda. Felt very attracted to Uganda where 2 years ago I decided to open a Transition Home for abandoned and abused children under 6 years old.
We offer healthcare, proper nutrition, early development but more importantly a safe place they can call home.
Since the cause of abandonment or neglect is at the family level, we also work with family members on topics such as parenting, family planning, and proper nutrition.
Since inception in 2018, we have impacted the lives of over 80 children.

Shantha H.N. | 1 comments Hello readers and writers!

I’m excited to join this group.
I’ve been writing for about five years now. Author of three books and the recent one is A Memoir.
I’m Shantha H.N, born and brought up in India, living in Abuja, Nigeria, with my family. I loved to cherish good old memories always more than anything else.
It seems every day to me is a story, being an introvert; I observe more than I talk, and reflect every night before I go to bed. All my best ideas come to me when I’m walking in the morning rays!
My first book, A Must Read to Succeed- A motivational as well as a self-help book.
The second one is the Poetry collection-
The Other Side of Silence
The Third one is a Memoir- Things We Remember.

A Kindle copy of my latest Memoir, “Things We Remember” is available on amazon kindle.

Things We Remember is a collection of memories and mundane episodes of my life to extract lasting lessons. Childhood in an Indian village, early adult life in Bangalore, and expatriate life in Abuja, Nigeria. From the joy of feasting on freshly plucked mangoes, visiting friends, and enjoying long bus rides, to the pain of mourning a grandparent, saying goodbye to school friends or living under different roofs of hostels, struggle to have an education, a degree, how I managed to fight gender discrimination towards girl’s education, how I managed to chase my dreams, losing a job, living with minimalism, etc.
“Things We Remember” is at once a simple and special book whose stories and message will linger long after you turn the last page.

Authors and readers, here is the link for the book.

I will be honored if you could give it a read and share your views! Do get in touch and let me know if you are interested.

Happy New Year 2021

Thanks, Shantha H.N

Gill Mather | 16 comments The Unreliable Placebo
Gill Mather
As The Clock Struck Ten

Hi. I'm a new member. I'm a solicitor turned author and I live on the Essex/Suffolk border in England. I'm married with two grown up sons and also look after my mother with the help of our cat, Suzie. I'm hoping to promote a couple of novels.

My novel 'The Unreliable Placebo' is a rom-com of sorts, though not of the sentimental variety. It's rather more raw than the average rom-com and poses endless questions about modern life and a woman's place in the world. The book charts Anna Duke's clumsy attempts to re-join the couples club after the Arsehole ‒ sorry, her husband Alfie ‒ has left her, resulting in various embarrassing events, and leading her to some strange places and into some weird situations.

My novel 'As The Clock Struck Ten' is a contemporary psychological crime thriller which takes the reader into a dark and murky subject, transformed in the last decade in the light of social and legal changes. Authorities may get carried away by the need not to be seen to have acted dismissively or wrongly or too late. Rampant political correctness may result in a failure to carry out even-handed investigations, leading to injustices. And of course someone has to suffer.

I'm happy to provide a free copy of either novel as a PDF or in ebook format. Any reviews, on Goodreads or elsewhere, or opinions would be gladly appreciated. Do get in touch and let me know if you're interested. The novels are also available on Kindle for 99p each.
No doubt I should stick to one genre, but ideas arent like that. They just bubble up. Right now I have a work in progress which is a sci-fi novel called 'Process 99' on a site called Inkitt where it can be read free and a review left.
And soon I'll be self-publishing a new mystery novel if I can't get an agent or publisher interested. I'll post about that once it's published.
Happy Christmas and New Year. Gill Mather

Fred Rutter | 13 comments Good reading in 2021 ! My new book, "Hitting the Road Without a Map" officially releases on February 1, 2021 ! It is a travel memoir and photo essay of an actual trip which had a goal, but virtually no plan.
An adventure on the road, but more important, a journey of personal growth and living in the moment.

Darryl Chislett | 20 comments The wife always said I was bad at introductions - now I have to introduce myself! And not sure how all this works ( I don't have a cell phone or a Facebook account! ) - but I wrote a book and apparently Goodreads is the place to be - authors need readers and readers need authors! The book was a planned fantasy production - but several readers have told me it is 'genre crossing' - a mixture of spirituality and metaphysics with a strong undercurrent of romance. Nothing wrong with mixing things up - 'variety is the spice of life' - and all that! The book is called 'Of Harleys and Healing'. Yes - there's motorcycles in it - but also dogs, crows, dragonflies, music and Irish monks, and a little bit of life after death and astral projection!
As I say - not sure how all this works - but check out the link and if anybody is truly interested I would be glad to spread a few copies around. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08HGRW5DL

Hester Keegan (hesterkeegan) | 1 comments Hi! I'm Hester, from Indonesia. The Girl From Jakarta is my first novel, but I'm now terrified to talk about it. A friend was recently flagged and told off for politely asking a GoodReads "friend" to read their book. Now I don't feel safe here. I don't know what to do. Nobody will talk to me, I feel totally anonymous. I know you have to work harder after finishing the writing stage, but if everybody is unfriendly...

Belynda Thomas (belyndawilsonthomas) | 76 comments Hi I'm Belynda from Canada. I published my debut novel Secrets and Silence on August 29, 2020, started a blog belyndasbooks.com in July of 2018, and am currently working on a sequel to Secrets and Silence. Getting readers is a challenge but the information that seems the soundest is to write the best book we can and then write another one, and as we develop our catalogue we will also develop a readership. We are offering our writing if they will accept it, and read it. But, there is so much to choose from and we want those readers to find us now. Eventually, if we persevere we will probably find our audience. As an author I would love to read more books that I find on Goodreads and elsewhere but finding the time to write, read, and keep body and soul together means we can't possibly read everything. Hester, a word of advice if I may? We are totally anonymous until we aren't. Don't give up, but also don't expect too much from any individual, and reading someone's book is a commitment of time that someone may not have to give. Your readers will find you. Friending you does not mean they will read your book. They might in their own good time. Don't let unmet expectations spoil your experience on Good Reads.

Viswanath Lakshmisetty | 5 comments Hello! Good day!

I am Viswanath Lakshmisetty.

I am currently penning the novella series, "The Lone Mystery" of which the first installment has been released under the name The Lone Mystery: who is TUM?

It was one helluva ride I must say. If you would've asked me 1 to 2 years back, I would've shrugged it off. I was doing well in life with a 9-5 job but 2020 was one weird year and had something else in store for me.

With the onslaught of Covid-19, everything has changed for me if not for all of us. I had been overlooking my passion till then thinking there was too much time to pursue it.

But looking at the devastation and the new bubble life the virus has brought upon us, I've changed my thought process.

We never know what's gonna happen tomorrow,
We may live on to tell the tale or succumb to the crisis we are in.

As said I overlooked the satisfaction I get through pursuing my passion but I realized I had to get it even if it means I had to scrape along.

That's what I exactly did. Scraped hard to become a self-published author and I am loving the process!

If you've come this far reading this, I just want you to understand that if life gives an opportunity even if it's a half-chance, grab it by the skin of your teeth.

All the best!

Regards,
Viswanath Lakshmisetty

I am a reader and a book reviewer. I love to read books of all genres but my absolute favourites are Young Adult, Fantasy, Historical Fictions, Horror and Thriller. My least favourites are none-fiction and biographies.

I am a lover of stories! I like to support authors as much as I can be reading and reviewing their books and I share my reviews as far and wide as I can. Beginning on Goodreads, over on my blog and on social media too.

I am always happy to receive friend requests from other GR members who share book interests and like to interact by liking and recommending new books for each other to read.

I look forward to connecting with you :)

Fresh out of college with a pile of debt and acting as the sole provider for his dying grandma, Ezra is driven to make it in the biotech industry. Having only worked as a private investigator, he accepts an offer by a medical device company to spy on a competitor with a ground breaking new instrument. During the assignment, Ezra uncovers ties to a political conspiracy involving a foreign government.

Hiding away at his divorced parent’s cabin in rural California, Ezra works to sabotage their plan while rediscovering himself with a free spirited local named Abigail. Ezra is pursued by the corrupt players in the scandal while his time in a small town redefines his view of leading a fulfilled life.
