Hello Vincent. I started to write novels after retiring from my career as a schoolteacher, mostly just for my own enjoyment, rather than to actually make any money! I have now self-published 3 detective stories and 1 book - 'A Death on the Somme' - which is somewhat different, being set during the First World War. If readers are interested in a FREE kindle download of this novel, I have arranged for a 5 day giveaway starting December 1st.
Do please see my blog.
Did I introduce myself before?I don't remember.
Zig Ziglar said that repetition is the mother of learning...
My name is Marin.
I create children's picture books.
I write, illustrate, design, publish, and promote my stories.
I produce my book trailers, I maintain my website, and sometimes clean my home-based studio.
My stories are really, really, really good - kids said so, although I am a very boring person - almost useless for our economy. I do not have a driving license, I do not eat fast food, I do not drink carbonated beverages, I do not have a mobile phone, I do not use any drugs, and I have never been to my GP (much to the disapproval of my wife).

Hi Jane.
Hi Gordon, well done with 8 books. I published my first one last month after taking early retirement. I have definitely got the bug for it. Unless you get a publishing contract I guess the money never comes rolling in but the satisfaction of seeing your work in print is amazing. Amazon have made it so easy for budding writers to get their work out there. Caroline
I understand your feeling, Caroline! I have been writing for close to 40 years now and this is the first book I've ever gotten published. Even if it never gets to where I would like it to be, it is so exciting to have something of mine in print. And that keeps me writing.
My name is Arushi Sharma, I am the new member of this group and also to the Goodreads community. I recently wrote my first romance young adult Non-Fiction book. If at all self-promotion is not considered as a violation of the rules (Idk) my book is called "Scrutinizing Love" If you want, you can check out my new release... Have a wonderful day ahead :)
Hello all. My name is Lisa Burkett and I live in Minneapolis, MN. When I started writing novels three years ago, I never dreamed it would have such a meaningful impact on my life. I was searching for ways to use my personal story to help others and realized that writing fiction might be just the right medium.
My emphasis is on strong character development within storylines that expose the hidden devastation of domestic abuse and sexual violence. I use fictional characters as a means of offering information and encouragement to those suffering in silence. The first four books in my "Mallox" series are published, and I'm currently working on the fifth.
In my novels, strong female characters are challenged by their psychological struggles with PTSD, eating disorders, depression and anxiety. Throughout the series, I introduce unconventional therapy practices including equine therapy and canine-assisted therapy, which are used in conjunction with traditional methods. My hope is that my readers will relate to these characters and learn about the benefits of asking for help.
In addition to writing, I run a small non-profit service dog organization which I founded in 2013. Our dogs are partnered with therapists who work with clients experiencing the effects of trauma. Each of our dogs have their own client caseloads that they see on a weekly basis (pre-pandemic). While some of our therapists help traumatized children, we focus our work on assisting first responders (police, fire and medical) who have been traumatized in the line of duty.
If you are dealing with past trauma, know someone who is, or just want to learn more, I hope you'll consider reading and sharing my books. The best way to help someone is to reach out to them. That's my goal and that's why I'm a writer.

Hi everybody--My name is Roselle Zubey. I am a historical romance author. I have written two books-Remembered Hopes (about 9-11) and Love and Valor (about a World War I British pilot and his American-born wife). I'm looking forward to talking with people on this site which will help me with promoting my books. Take care. Stay safe from the coronavirus.
I have a few unpublished books like those...I would be very interested in reading yours.
Hi everyone! My name is Adriana Marston. I am an author, educator and trainer. I have recently published my first book "I Promise", an inspiring spiritual memoir about divine interventions, synchronicities and faith. I know it will inspire and lift up many readers of all ages and I am very excited to share it with you. https://amzn.to/3m8eOf2
I am happy to be part of this group!
My name is Renae Kelly. I am a new author. My original desire to write a book of lessons on my chronicles as a parent came from my search for a book that detailed real talk experiences about the ups and downs of parenting. I never found one. I decided it was time to write about my own experiences with the hope that it would help someone else to see that we go through the same or similar experiences and we are not alone. I enjoyed writing this book. Also, I've enjoyed reading since I was in grade school. It keeps the mind sharp and increases vocabulary. My background is accounting.

Hi, I'm Steve or S. B. I'm a published author with novels on the shelf and others upcoming. Written Mystery/Thriller, Sci/Fi Romance, horror, and a New Adult series. I write what pops into my mind and I'd love to read. I am now an Indie author because I’ve been screwed by independent publishers; that's a horror story! My latest horror novel is The Demon Hunters: Succubus Resurrection.I like stories with intense emotions and dynamic characters, as human nature was my area of expertise as a school psychologist and Clinical Social Worker. I don't like mindless horror, or graphic horror, violence without a unique plot. I grew up watching the black and white 1940s and 50s classic movies Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein with implied violence. Serial killers now bore me. creativity catches my interest. Any help I can be to fellow writers, glad to assist. www.redstoneauthor.comThe Demon Hunters: Succubus Resurrection

Hi all. I'm Rob and years ago I used goodreads to connect with others in the world of poetry. Now I have written a novel in order to further flesh out all of the craziness rolling around in my head. Self published just this month. Nice to be a part of the group.
Hello, I'm Cheryl Porior-Mayhew, the author, blogger and public speaker on Facing Life Challenges: The ABCs of One Woman's Journey to Healing Her Heart. It's newly published (Nov. 12) and was named #1 Amazon Best Seller in my category. When I'm not writing, I'm the Chief Development Officer for three retirement communities....in other words, fundraising. I'm married and the mother of a 23 year old son and spunky dog named Monkey. You can learn more about me at www.facinglifechallenges.com.
Looking forward to meeting all of you and learning from you on how to market a book. Thanks in advance!

Your novel looks interesting and the fact that you moved into novel writing from poetry is consistent with my own story (though I didn't mention it in my author's profile). For some reason, the title and the way you describe it feels like Beggars in Spain, at least the very beginning of the latter and the treatment between the two daughters resembles the treatment of the two boys you mention. Anyway, just a thought. Welcome!
Hi all!My name is Oswald Wallace Jr., and I am new to Goodreads. I recently finished writing my book "Weight Loss: The Holistic Four Pillared Approach". I realize that weight loss has long been excluded from literature circles, but I would like to change that. I love to write, and I love to help people. My book has allowed me to do just that.
For decades the weight loss industry has been drowned in diet books and exercise books. These books can be great starts for losing weight, but they lack the efficiency and results I write of in my book. I focus on the four pillars of weight loss: mentality, diet, exercise, and healthy habits. This holistic approach is optimal for weight loss.
For those interested, my book is available now on Amazon.
Hello everyone. I am Yolanda Faye Daniel and I have been in love with reading books since fourth grade and I ordered my first books from that catalog that used to come to the schools. I am a native of Atlanta and I still live near my hometown. I am also an author here on Goodreads.
Dear Dear fellow authors and book lovers,
I love reading & writing and have recently self published my first novel Indomitable - a novel about ambition, love, family and hearbreak all intertwined with the inescapable fact of Death.
The book is out on Amazon and I am seeking honest reviews of the book in exchange for a review of your book.
I would be glad to connect and collaborate with like minded authors and book lovers who are writing or reading extensively and would like gaining visibility for their work within the Goodreads community.
Please check out my profile and my blog and leave a comment if you like anything.
Hope to hear from some of you soon :)
Thanks & Regards

Hi, My name is Amy Barrett. I am a new author from rural Ireland who just finished my degree in creative writing with NUIG. I love writing fantasy books, particularly urban fantasy. I also write some poetry. Right now I am working on a novel on Tapas writing and one on Wattpad along with my weekly blog. Hoping to meet fellow writers who I can share resources and experience with. Can't wait!
Hello my name is Jennifer Warmuth and I live with my family in the USA. My first horror/fiction novel in the paranormal/supernatural/thriller/horror genre was recently released. I have always loved reading and writing and enjoy the horror genre the most. I set out to write a genuinely scary story with descriptions that will catapult the reader into the scene with vivid descriptions and imagery. My goal was to create strong characters the reader can get behind with an in depth and interesting plot. The feedback from readers has been really great. Currently the second book in the series is in the works for release by early 2021. I wanted to create a book that would be a welcome and fun distraction from the difficult year many people are having due to the pandemic. The price of my eBook has been reduced to make it affordable and hopefully more available.I look forward to participating in the discussions in this group!

That book you mentioned is obviously a completely different genre and story then my own novel which actually makes the similarities more interesting. The one you mentioned has two sisters, whose own relationship mirrors the world around them. My novel has two brothers whose relationship between themselves and their father fleshes out some bigger life themes for sure. Anyways, your sci fi books look fascinating. I am always impressed by writers who create a whole different world and make it feel believable.
I'm curious. We both write in different genres. Would you be interested in a trade. We read each other's book and then offer an honest review? I don't often read your genre but when I do I come away glad I did.

I try to read a good balance of scifi and other literature, and your work sounds interesting as well.

Hi, I’m Anttimatti.I am an independent author and publisher from Finland, and I joined GoodReads only recently. I write science fiction filled with adventure, humor, cliffhangers, and thrills without unnecessary bloodshed. I like to mix stories from own experience with my overactive imagination.
As a person, I love coffee, dogs, gaming, movies, great books and diving. Not necessarily in that order. I am ex-army commando, ex-computer engineer and ex-athlete. I burned out 8 years ago as a specialist computer engineer, left with a disability. I have traveled (45 countries) and lived in seven. “What doesn’t kill you... hurts like hell.”
Right now, I am in the middle of writing the second novel for Black Table series.
Fun fact: I spent over 120 days in Orlando Theme parks one winter, as a customer... 🤪

Hi Anttimatti! Your book Black Table looks promising from the reviews. I hopped out to the amazon page to get the gist - an accidental intergalactic network explored by science fiction nerds? Seems like it ought to be pretty funny :). Hoping to read it as soon as I get some time. Welcome!

Thank you Andrew! And thank you for your support 🤗
I just realized from your comment, that Black Table did not have the blurb here in GoodReads. Now added. Thanks for that. And welcome to Black Table Network. 🤜🏻🤛🏻
OK, I will try. I am Jane Brooke, a 23 year old odd and strange Bi Polar/OCD lesbian The Widow’s Secret: Kismet in WyomingBritish Gay blonde female writer of LGBTQ crime thrillers, 14 novels published world wide. I have problems navigating these sites, so be kind, I posted on another site and viciously and sadistically was attacked by the members, it broke my heart. Stepping out of my comfort zone, I left my core base of readers of LGBTQ novels, and had my 1st AUDIO book published by a USA publisher, The Widows Secret. Seeing so many 5 star reviews, well I guess it was the right time to write a novel about Hispanic/Brown skinned prejudice in America. A widowed racist young Wyoming female rancher, two young kids, her 100 acres, her children, and her entire life is a disaster. A weathered, tattered clothes, tall and mysterious Hispanic man, help wanted notice in his callused hand walks down her dirt drive way. Desperate she hires him, basic wages, places him in a hovel to live, he does not complain. Time passes as through a bone jarring work ethic, patience and love, rehabs and repairs her entire ranch, her children and slowly pulls the racism out of her dark heart, ashamed she becomes a female of tolerance and love. This AUDIO novel is a rather small novel, but I have been told an important one. The Narrator, MS England was fabulous, especially with accents. Thank you Jane Brooke from Cambridge UK.
Greetings to everyone!I am a cross-genre author and poet from Croatia who writes and publishes under the pen name Bernard Jan.
I only write about things I am deeply emotionally connected with and passionate about, like animals (cats, dogs, seal pups, New York, sk8boarding -- this will be my new novel coming out next year, to name just a few).
My genres, definitely too many of them haha. Literary fiction, true story, coming-of-age, young adult, mystery, romance, with a touch of adventure, crime, dystopia etc. Hard to mention them all. Being cross-genre makes writing and reading more interesting and marketing that much harder lol.
I also have a passion for amateur photography, and listening to music keeps my sanity.
Thanks for reading this and keep writing great stories!
One click on my name will tell you more about me. Thanks for visiting my profile! 📖🙏😊💜

I am Robin, at Robin's Room https//robrjo6.com/. Reading and writing are two of my favourite activities. I also like travelling, although that has been put on hold until Covid 19 is dealt with by vaccination and good heath practices. I have published nonfiction in the past, and belonged to a short story writing group at one time. Since completing a lengthy nonfiction academic work I've found that my writing has had to accommodate the impact of writing 'to order' , resulting in my preference for writing shorter works. At the moment I am grappling with the joys of blogging. My blog includes writing about books and television, including reviews, as well as articles and commentary on writing itself. My television comments cover programs I've watched and a nostalgic podcast of a long term 1980s and 90s Australian program. My posts, updated weekly, include anything that has aroused my interest, including my recent Australian travel to the Northern Territory (all Covid safe). So, I'm a writer, although it will take time to get back to writing fiction and longer non-fiction works. I am also a reviewer. In relation to the reviews I prefer to write, 103 appear on Goodreads. They provide some information on how I review. For example: Charity Norman, 5 Book Collection; numerous Agatha Christie novels; psychological thrillers, such as Catherine McKenzie, You Can't Catch Me; and non-fiction, such as Laura Thompson, Agatha Christie, I Am Malala, Yousafizi Malala and The Glass Castle, Jeanette Walls. I like to look widely, rather than focus narrowly, on what an author is saying and often provide social context. I am happy to review books that can be sent to be easily read on a kindle.

I write faithfully, and I read daily. I'm 26 years old with a 8 month old and a wife of one year. I'm also a teacher that works two other jobs. Not to make ends meet, but because I like the grind... And the extra mula baby!! I love the speaking engagements that I do for colleges and high schools. I enjoy sharing my experiences and the wisdom I have
I enjoy writing self help books, fiction, and childrens book at the moment .. I'm embarrassed to say that I'm still finding my genre
That's really enough... Hope everyone is well!! Any good self help books, shoot em at me!
Hey Everyone, Just starting out here and would love to meet new friends who will motivate me to start my own pieces of writing. I am an english teacher and have just started to find time to read more due to the pandemic. I would love to hear great book recommendations to read at home during the winter.
I would like to learn about how to begin writing effective short stories to then in the future possibly write me own fiction or non-fiction books.
Thanks in advance and looking forward to meeting fantastic people...

The pandemic has its uses, I'm reading more too. Although here it is relatively safe, lots of social distancing, smaller numbers in venues, hand sanitiser everywhere, and masks on public transport/when there is an outbreak (here that means a few people, not 100s).
But, to get to your writing. Zoe Fairbairns, an English author of several novels, has now begun teaching writing in London. She has published a book on short story writing. I also recall her mentioning Maeve Binchy's short stories as having a great deal of merit.

Hi Yasemin. There are lots of kindle books on how to write short stories, which might be a place to start. Taking a course could be good too, though you’d want a recommendation as they are of variable standards! What sort of genre are you thinking for writing and for reading recommendations?

I can email you a free eBook without any obligation. Nice blog and impressively thorough review of Charity Norman 5-Book Collection btw!
Hey Jane,Right now, i am having mixed thoughts to be honest. It could be a children's story book or a young adult fiction book. But sometimes it changes and i switch to writing a memoir.
I love reading interesting life stories like The immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks but i also love a good Charles Dickens novel.
I am not picky with my reading genre as long as it is interesting.
I will definitely have a look on Kindle :) Thank you so much
