Lisa Champagne | 2 comments Hello everyone!
My name is Lisa, and I published my first book, New Celestial, on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/New-Celestial-... My second book in the series is set to be released at the end of September 2020, and the third at the end of November 2020.
I’m currently a full-time YA Paranormal romance writer, such a long genre, which I love doing every day. I get to craft worlds and live in them, which is so fulfilling!
I’ve always loved reading books and writing, but never considered myself a writer, even though I wrote sketches in The Groundlings right out of college, then began creating stories for TV. It’s funny how something you love is staring you straight in the face, but you never realize it. Thankfully, my crazy butt finally connected the dots and here I am, writing away like a woodpecker pecking at a tree.
I’m big on community and would love to connect with other writers/readers.

Patricia Bourque | 29 comments Hi Lisa...Congratulations on your first book! I'm also a first time author. 'When You're Young and In Love'. https://amzn.com/B0876DVFRF ://www.patriciabourque.net/ I like your analogy, "writing away like a woodpecker pecking at a tree." Or more often lately it feels like it should be beating my head against a tree.

I'm half way through a second book, but find that marketing and getting readers for my first book takes up so much study/learning time, I hardly have the energy or the desire to write anymore. However, it's probably just writer's slump. It's funny, all you need are a few sales and you're flying again. I made this little ditty and had fun doing it. Kind of proud since I'm not very tech savvy.
https://bit.ly/3fY0CBg I think you're totally in the right genre - it seems to be the most popular today. You should do very well.
Best regards, Patricia

Savio Dawson (saviodawson) | 32 comments Hello,

I am Savio and I am coming back to goodreads after almost five years. So, it is time to re-introduce myself.

I have written my second science fiction novel after a big gap and would like to present it over here. Here are the details of the book:

Title: Arlenian Interceptors
Author: Savio Koman
Book Availability: Free on Kindle and Amazon until 22nd August

You can download for free and have fun reading. Even if you don't have Kindle, you can download the book if you have an Amazon account. The book would be downloaded to your Kindle app on cloud from where you can read. So, have fun reading.

P.S. - I wouldn't mind if there are reviewers who would like to take a look at my book. If sci-fi, suspense thriller interests you then this book has it all. :)

Louy Castonguay (louyc) | 21 comments Was introduced to sci fi many many years in the past. It has emerged now, to something more, but in the age of dune it wa a very niche category wiothe few readers, but I have always enjoyed a good story, no matter the genre. I'll give you work a try and maybe give you a review. You might like a bit of a mystery adventure in any of my Keeper Series, most recently Teen's Keeper, available for 99 cents, and the first, My Neighbor's Keeper, also 99 cents. Welcome back to the writing community.

B.J. Scott | 1 comments Hi everyone, I'm Bill Scott, writing under the pen name James Scott and previously B J Scott. I'm the multiple award-winning author of seven novels. Six of these are historical fiction, and one is speculative fiction. I'm proud to introduce my latest novel, which debuted July 17th, Reach for the Sky. It's a novel of 1930s and 1940s southern California. Reach for the Sky is 433 pages of action, adventure, and romance! Here's the back cover blurb: Southern California, 1929. It is the Golden Age of American Aviation, when dashing young men pilot flying machines and women are told they don’t belong in the cockpit.
That means nothing to fifteen-year-old Shannon Donnelly. Orphaned and on the run from her parents’ killers, she stumbles into the world of aviation. Inspired by a chance encounter with Amelia Earhart, she pursues a dream to fly, becomes part of 1930s Hollywood, and is shadowed by a man determined to see her dead. Along the way, she wins the hearts of two men—one she will marry; one she cannot forget—and falls into a love triangle culminating in a daring rescue mission into Nazi-occupied France.
Take flight into a slice of 1930s Southern California life—air races, Hollywood, movie stars, dangerous flying machines, the Great Depression, and more in an adventure set in the same period as The Rocketeer and Chinatown.
Reach for the Sky by James Scott is available in paperback and ebook on amazon at https://www.amazon.co/dp/B00QMLW3LU.
Happy to meet you all!

S.Z. Attwell | 7 comments Hello!

My name is Sabrina - I've sort of poked around on Goodreads in the past but I've never really joined it other than to keep track of, well, good reads. But now I'm back...as an author!

Aestus: Book 1: The City

(If you like epic dystopian sci-fi...or just plain action-adventure...see below for a bit about the book.)

About me: I live in the Boston area, I'm a science writer (mostly physics), I'm a huge nerd, and I've always wanted to be a fiction writer. I love photography and do archery on the side; I'm hoping to get a good DSLR as soon as I can (recs welcome!). I love good speculative fiction that makes you both think and care about the characters (and like to think I've accomplished this with my book).

I'm slightly lost on how to include my book/genre (help?) but for what it's worth, here's the blurb (please let me know if I need to move this post):

An underground city, built centuries ago to ride out the devastating heat. A society under attack. And a young solar engineer whose skills may be the key to saving her city…if she doesn’t get herself killed first.

When Jossey was ten, the creatures of the aboveground took her brother and left her for dead, with horrible scars. Now, years later, she’s a successful solar engineer, working to keep her underground city’s power running, but she’s never really recovered. After she saves dozens of people during a second attack, she is offered a top-secret assignment as a field Engineer with Patrol, but fear prevents her from taking it…until Patrol finds bones near where her brother disappeared.

She signs on and finds herself catapulted into a world that is far more dangerous, and requires far more of her, than she ever imagined. The creatures and the burning heat aboveground are not the only threats facing the City, and what she learns during her assignment could cost her her life: one of the greatest threats to the City may in fact lie within. With thousands of lives at stake, can she act in time?

Aestus is an adult dystopian science-fiction series set centuries after climate change has ravaged much of Earth. An epic story of vengeance, power, shifting loyalties, and survival that looks at just how far people will go to protect what they love, brought to you by science writer S.Z. Attwell, Aestus paints a picture of a world in which far too little has changed.

Lori Krause | 2 comments Hi. I’m Lori from the dysfunctional US and I write fiction. Particularly, mystery-suspense-psychological thrillers. I love writing. Especially, when the reader is so caught up in the narrative they don’t see the ending coming. I also write a poem for each story, and I include it in the book as an epigraph. I start with a title and I think about what that title means to me, and I just start writing.

Susan Nickson | 1 comments Hello, everyone! I'm an author of Women's Fiction and Romance books. The first two books of my Healing Series are out now on Amazon, and I'm looking for reviewers who enjoy a book that may deal with serious themes but are generally uplifting and a fast read. I want my readers to enjoy my work, and of course, reviews will help me get the word out!

As for myself, I am from Alabama, have lived in Texas most of my adult life. I came here to work in the oil and gas industry and I was the first woman hired by a mudlogging company to work on the rigs. That was an experience, let me tell you!. Currently, I'm enjoying the country life that is the setting for the series. I love reading, traveling, horses, dogs, my family (of course, can't forget them), knitting, weaving and spinning. I have to say that the handicrafts have fallen by the wayside since I started writing again. Funny, how it takes over your life.

Anyway, if there are people out there who would like to read my book, here's the Amazon info. Oh, and if you think you might want to review it, better yet!!! Send me a message and I'll see how to get you a copy. I can't require that you review it, you understand, but it sure would be nice!

Hello fellow authors and readers,
I'm new to goodreads and delighted to be on the brink of joining my first group.
My day job involves producing content and editing images for a variety of gardening-related websites. In my spare time, I enjoy writing fiction and have two books under my belt thus far. If you like fast-paced, slightly quirky thrillers, with an element of black humour, then they might be for you.
I'm also an avid reader with an eclectic taste, ranging from the classics to modern, commercial fiction, so am looking forward to chatting to members of the goodreads community about all things to do with books.
Kind regards and speak soon,
Beau (from Devon, England)

The dream to write has been in my soul for many, many years, but life got in the way and the dream went dormant. Fast forward and I decided to return to writing. I'm involved in various writing communities which I love. And I have always loved to read from Nancy Drew mysteries as a child to anything about archeology as a teen to romances as a young adult to now. I read most of the romance sub-genres and enjoy them.

Darran Brennan (darranbrennan) | 1 comments Hi, I'm looking to connect with readers and authors to discuss books with. I'm a debut author myself. I'm into great plots with complex, AUTHENTIC characters, and a narrative woven into the fabric of the story that creeps up on you (not in a man with a knife outside your window kind of way). I need A STORY. A contemporary (Steinbeck/Kafka/Dumas) wiliness to it that claws it's way up your spine, gnawing into your endocrine system, cupping your bosom, and sticking its tongue in your ear! Any recommendations would be haughtily underappreciated, I mean that indicatively the opposite to what I mean!

Not big on melodrama or stories where there's a good guy who looks like he's in the shit and then isn't, then is again and, phew, isn't, but learns a valuable lesson.

Sorry for the language. Am I culturally appropriating myself by making an excuse that I'm Irish?

It'd be overly enthusiastic to meet you all, ALL I say, and then I'd get bored. So hook me early.

Darran,

Timothy Black | 1 comments Hi everyone--my name is Tim from Cape Town, South Africa. I am an American, but my family and I have lived in South Africa for 17 years and love it. I also love working for Scripture Union SA and have the pleasure of leading an amazing team. I just released a book on Kindle this month called 'The Gospel as Social Revolution: The role of the church in the transformation of society'... which is fairly academic, but hopefully useful in encouraging local churches to address the significant needs in society. (Incidentally, it is a Goodreads giveaway for the next 10 days or so if you are interested). And I love to read--whether it is heavy academic texts or Tolkien--or anything in between. Nice to 'meet' you and look forward to the journey...
