Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Howdy, all. I'm M. E. Patterson, writer of supernatural thrillers, horror, and the occasional sci-fi or fantasy tale. I live in the picturesque (when it's not on fire) Texas Hill Country, but for some reason I write mostly about other places. Outside of books, I'm also an accomplished web software engineer and UI designer, spend way too much time drinking (and brewing) beer, love to garden, and spend about half of my paycheck watching movies at the fabulous Alamo Drafthouse theater.
My debut thriller, Devil's Hand, is available now. If you like Jim Butcher, Dean Koontz, or Tim Powers, you will probably dig it. Also if you like stories about Las Vegas, fallen angels, and snow. :)
Cheers!
Hi,My name's Sarah and I'm the author of Captive I love to write and I love to read and have become a bit addicted to the Goodreads site!
I'm originally from Wiltshire in the South West of England but moved to Australia in 2008. I now live in a beautiful part of the Illawarra and am lucky enough to enjoy the Australian lifestyle.
I look forward to interacting with both authors and readers and sharing our mutual love of books

I've just had my Kindle delivered in the post so I'll be checking out your book shortly. I read the first few pages and it looks really good. I look forward to sitting down and giving it a proper read.

Hi, I've been a journalist and publicist for about 45 years and written two published books. My first mystery was recently released. Another author loved it!My deep thanks to fellow Author R. Lee Holz who read my book and gave it five stars on Amazon. As a note, this was NOT a quid-pro-quo review and I have not purchased or read any of his works.
This review is from: Murder_in_the_Pinelands (INSIDE_STORY) (Kindle Edition)
I very much enjoyed this book. I'm fond of police procedurals and MITP is in a closely related genre. The Inside Story true crime magazine vehicle is interesting and promising. I hope there will be more in what will become a series. I particularly liked the gritty, nuts and bolts, reality centered way in which the story is told. The author's professional background as a journalist shows in his writing and knowledge of the field. I wonder whether the author's impressive knowledge of police methods, weapons and military intelligence is the result of research, experience or both.

Cheers

I just discovered this group and it looks great! I've had nine novels published by "legacy" houses. After a long hiatus I'll have a new hardboiled mystery, NO GAME FOR A DAME, coming out in October as an eBook. As you might guess, I love to read too!
Hi, I am a 28-year-old foster parent and children's author. My most recent release, "In Memory of Dad" is geared for ages 7-14 and is available for only 99 cents on Smashwords, Amazon and B&N. The story is based on real experiences I went through after losing my father at the age of 12. I am hoping my story will help encourage and comfort other kids who are going through a major loss. In Memory of Dad
I am new to the group. I am not a writer just a reader. I like to read a variety of things. I am loving finding all these new books and authors on my kindle . I never run out of things to read now.
Hello Vincent, Thanks for creating this.
I'm Joanna and I've written 3 novels. They are all on Kindle. The writers' group I belong to has been invaluable in pointing out things in my novels that work and things that don't.
Vissi d'arte was my first novel. It's set in an opera school where students learn drama, movement and music.Vissi d'arte
I look forward to hearing about other writers and reading some great novels.

Hi! I'm Ann Werner and I'm the author of a thriller titled "Dreams and Nightmares". It's on Smashwords and Kindle - although there was a problem with the Kindle version that I never would have been aware of were it not for Amanda here on Goodreads who gave me a rave review. A part of it was missing! All fixed now but probably not yet updated on Amazon. It takes a couple of days. Right now I'm working on getting my second novel done - hopefully in time for Christmas but I have found that a story takes its own sweet time! Come over and visit my (I should say our) web site and check out the projects we've got on tap. http://arkstories.com
Ok so this group is mainly authors it seems. Very cool I guess I will never run short of books to read. It must be so hard to get started and put yourself out there once your "baby" is complete. I really respect what you all do. Thank you as a reader. I am now trying to teach little kids to read and my older kids the joy of reading. Books are so very important.
I agree with you, Readingcureall.Books are so important on so many levels. Encouraging a child to read is so important. We were encouraged to read at an early age and still love to read to this day. In my case now write.

Readingcall, Good luck in your search for new books. As both a reader and a writer, little equals the joy of a good book. I love discovering new authors.

Hi Vincent,
I'm a recently self-published author (you can check out three sample chapters of my book, `Stone of the Goddess' on Goodreads)who is slowly exploring the possibilites afforded by Goodreads writers groups. There's one for every interest, it seems, and I wish I had more time to devote to them. My reading tastes are pretty eclectic.

Glad you asked! Developmental writing helps people build up their skills so that they can succeed in curriculum classes (like Eng 101). Occasionally, we can sneak in a bit of creativity (write their own imagist poem for example), but not much. Best of luck with the text book -that sounds awesome!
My name is Nicholas Searcy, and my first novel (fantasy) was published last week.

My name is Paul Pullen, and I have just published my first novel, "Contract with the King," eBook format, with barnesandnoble.com and amazon.com, $2.99.This emotional and sometimes humorous story centers around the humanitarian kidnapping of Elvis Presley by an adventurous group of University of Texas students.
"...with themes including reconciliation and redemption and a physically novel approach by the kidnappers to keeping Elvis sidetracked from the tortures inherent in withdrawal and ultimate recovery, Contract with the King serves up a highly addictive brand of storytelling."

Hello to all Goodreaders. I just recently joined though I'd been meaning to for some time. I'm an author (surprise) of women's fiction. I'm also the mother of four daughters who've provided lots of material for my novels. When I'm not at my computer writing, I'm at my sewing machine located on the opposite wall, working on a quilt. So I always have a project going.
I just recently got the rights back to my first novel and have put it out with a new cover. though it still shows on this site with the old one. So if someone knows how I can have the new cover show, I'd appreciate it.
Well, I guess that's enough about me to start. You can read all about my books on my website, http://www.joycedebacco.com. Please visit. Welcome mat is always open.
Hello, everyone! I just recently joined, and as you may guess, I'm an author. I write YA fiction in a few different genres, though my favorites are science fiction, fantasy, and old-fashioned horror (with a bit of romance in all!). I love to read personally, and am always looking for new, exciting things. My other likes are listening to music, creating artwork, and watching movies. I also love comic books and superheros.
I recently published the first book in my new series, the Foxfire Chronicles, and am about to publish a Christmas novel for the holidays.
Please check out my work, and let me know what you think! I'm always eager to hear reader's comments! http://www.alexandralanc.com

Hello! Pleased to meet you all.
I am Jodie Brownlee, author of middle grade fantasy. My first three books were published by Scholastic in Australia and New Zealand, and by Edizione Piemme in Italy. I have decided to explore the indie-publishing path in the USA. I just moved here from Australia and now live in Denver with my husband and our adopted cat Lola who also loves books. (She loves to sit on them).
I look forward to connecting with readers. They have been very kind in their reviews on goodreads, giving my books 4 stars! :-)
It would also be nice to hear how other authors are navigating the new frontier that is the ebook.

Hello! I'm Nora Weston. My writing slips in-between and all around science fiction, horror, and fantasy. My latest release is The Twelfth Paladin. If I'm not writing, then I'm reading...or stuck in the laundry room. With six kids, it seems that is always high on the priority list!
I'm looking forward to everyone's posts. :)
Take care,
Nora Weston

Hi!I'm Annie Bellet and I write SF/F as well as moonlight in the thriller/mystery and romance genres under other names.
I've had a handful of short stories published in various magazines and anthologies and I've been dipping my toes into the whole "indie" publishing thing over the last year. I'm a pretty voracious reader and have been a Goodreads member for a while, but I figured I should get more active here even if it is super dangerous for my reading addiction.
So, hi! :)

Hello to everyone. I am a newbie to this site and am happy to be a part of so many committed readers. Though I'm an eclectic reader, I mostly enjoy biographies, autobiographies, historical novels, and Southern U.S. history. My book, Remembrance, is based on stories told to me by my grandmother and great-aunt about their lives growing up in Georgia near the turn of the 20th Century. It is available on Amazon.com and at CypressPublications.com. This is a wonderful website and I am proud to be a part of it!
Hello,I am an indie writer as of the tail end of this past July. I published my first book, a science fiction novel, on Smashwords.com. I just found this group after wondering why there isn't one. So my name is Elldee (L. Darby Gibbs). I look forward to meeting readers and authors alike.
Hello Vincent!I wanted to introduce myself and join this group as well! It is so good to know you are all out there. I am a voracious reader and debut author of FARE FORWARD, A Novel.

HiI'm Simon, author of two very different series. The first is for teens & adults and the second is my new series for kids aged 9+
Over the years I've done a lot of author visits to schools and libraries, where I promote reading and writing to upper primary ages (9-12 year olds). I realised there was a lack of good science fiction for junior readers, and so I put my adult series on hold to write the kind of book I would have devoured as a ten year old.
Swapping genres has brought its own challenges, but it's also been fun. I'm new to the middle-grade/childrens' market as an author, even though I have a lot of experience working with that age group.
Greetings! I'm J.E. Lowder, author of the YA fantasy, Tears of Min Brock. I'm getting great reviews and beginning to line up speaking/reading engagements. For more info about me and the book, please visit http://www.warofwhispers.com or go to my Goodread and Facebook pages. Thanks!
I'm a bookworm but my name is Nita. I love reading romance, paranormal, and action/suspense. Some of my favorite authors are Nora Roberts (especially as JD Robb), Dana Marie Bell, Lauren Dane (even though I was disappointed with her last two books), Maureen Smith, Tina Folsom, and D.B. Reynolds. I have over 800 books on my Kindle and started reading avidly only in the last year or so.I have recently started seriously reviewing books and found Bookreads to be a great resource for posting reviews and reading open and honest reviews from others.
I look forward to connected with authors and readers in this group.
Best to all!
Hello! My name is Keith, I am an avid reader of many books of many genres and also write as well..I write mostly for my own pleasure, which basically means that so far I have not finished writing a book as of yet. But, I still love to write anyway and hope one day to have at least one book of poems, plays, fiction, non-fiction, published.
Hello, my name is Barry Finlay and and I have wirtten a book, with input from my son, about our climb of Mount Kilimanjaro and our subsequent efforts to help some very needy children in Africa. It has been a life-changing journey for me at age 60 and it is documented in our true adventure book, Kilimanjaro and Beyond. I am starting a book giveaway on October 1. Check it out!
