Welcome. I discover new things on Goodreads all the time. (smile)

I'm Nancy, and this group is wonderful. I'm both reader and author. I enjoy poetry and nonfiction and very occasionally, fiction. I have one book listed on Goodreads: The Truth About Butterflies: A Memoir, available in paperback and on Kindle. If anyone is interested in reviewing an electronic copy, please let me know.I'm currently reading Orwell's 1984. I read it in high school, under duress of course, but now with the world views of someone 40 something, I believe it will have more profound meaning.

Hello- I'm also a reader first, which means I write the way I like to read. I just discovered goodreads and so far I feel more at home here than I have on any other social network. I'm excited about meeting other readers and writers and discussing what we like and don't like and all the reasons in between. Although I usually write short stories and essays (and one novel I've been working on for six years haha), I just published my first eBook of poetry, 'The Hole Between Mine and Yours,' (free on goodreads and smashwords). The print version will be available by September 1st. If anyone has the time to check it out, I would absolutely love to hear any thoughts about it (especially criticism or 'dislikes' - that's the hardest type to get out of people).
Anywho, I'm open to all genres and can't wait to talk about books with all of you! -Christina

I will check out your poetry book later on today. Good luck with all your writing endeavors!
I, too, am going to be self-publishing my first YA book, Color-Gifted, within 2011, and cannot wait. You don't have to check it out if you don't want to, and by no means am I saying this because I will check out yours, but if you'd like to see the first few chapters which I've posted online, you can check them out on my blog.
In any case, I hope you enjoy it here very much, and hope all your writing dreams come true!
With warmth and a smile,

Hello! My name is Larry Pontius and Iam an author and a reader. Before I retired I was an executive with the Disney company and my first novel was born there. It is Waking Walt, a speculative thriller based upon the legend that Walt Disney never died, but was somewhere in cryonic suspension. My second novel, Future King, which in the process of being published is also based on a legend: when England needs him, KIng Arthur will return from Avalon.
Over time I hope I can introduce the members of this group to both book -- and learn about many others myself.
Regards,
Larry
P.S. The website for Future King just went live at www.futurekingnovel.com.
Hi everyone! My name is Kyle B. Stiff (true story) and I used to review video games for GameFan, Play, and a handful of other web sites. I've just finished a sci-fi "choose your own adventure" book available for Kindle. As the reader, you control the actions of the main character. Be warned: There are a few graphic action sequences! If anyone is interested, you can check out the book here:

And you can check out the blog here:

Also, I'll give out a Smashwords coupon to anyone who promises to write an Amazon review for Heavy Metal Thunder. Glowing review, hateful review, doesn't matter... honesty is fine, I can take it!
Hi everyone. What a great bunch of readers and writers. Wonderful to see you all here. Look forward to reading your books and finding out more about you all. C.K. Volnek

Those are some interesting sounding books. Are listed here on Goodreads?

Hi! My two books have been on GoodReads for a while, but I am just now finding these forums. I am a IT person by day, and love to write by night. I write the kind of books I like to read, Sci-Fi / Fantasy mixes. My books are written at a easy to read level and are mostly first person perspective because I feel when I read that it is easier to be immersed in the story from that POV then 3rd.
Right now with grad school starting back up for the fall semester I am a bit concerned on making my time line for release the 3rd book in my series, but the good news is its about 3/4ths done. :)

Hello, Am an avid reader of nonfiction and fiction. Glad to have found this topic after being on Goodreads for awhile.
Recently published in the historical fiction genre, a result of becoming very interested in the early Bronze Age of nw Europe and the Isles over the past decade. I lived in Ireland for much of the past decade to travel and research megaliths, ancient mining sites, early seafaring routes, and so forth!
See also the Bronze Age thread topic in the group Historical Info For Historical Fiction Readers, and website www.jsdunnbooks.com .
Larry wrote: "Lynn -- I just checked and Waking Walt is listed. Future King is still be published. :)Larry"
I was about to say, usually if they are on Amazon then they go to Goodreads at some point. If you look under your name on the top right...there is a help 'button' if you into that you can find all kinds of information including how to become a Goodreads Author. I know that Goodreads can be overwhelming at times but I've always found the people behind the scenes quite helpful even if you mess something up...just let them know they'll help you clean it up.
Lynn
P.S. If a book is on Goodreads, you can click on the add book/author feature right above where you type in comments. Then you can look your (or somebody else's) book up to put into the message field. That helps the reader to find the book in question and learn more about it, if they so choose.
Have a great one!
Hello. I'm Rachel Cray, and I write mainly in the erotic romance genre, and self-publish on Kindle, Nook and Smashwords. Most of my books are set either in international law firms or in sleepy English villages. Currently half-way through my eighth novella - due out in mid-September 2011.I live at www.rachelcray.com
My name is Rick and I suffer from writing. It can be a painful condition leading to bruised fingertips and dented foreheads. These are typically the result of untangling plot twists and filling holes in character motivations, which inevitably involves typing furiously with intermittent bouts of banging my head against the desk or wall.I released a middle-grade novel this summer titled THE MAN IN THE CINDER CLOUDS. It's an origins-of-Santa story that can appeal to anyone who has ever believed in Santa Claus.
I like to read books with / to my own kids, who are into everything from Magic Treehouse to Harry Potter. My son just started 4th grade so it's time he started reading Judy Blume!
My favorite authors range from Stephen King to Cormac McCarthy...I have rather eclectic taste.

Thanks Lynn, glad to know you can relate to the pain, frustration, and unbridled joy that is writing ;-)Thanks for looking into my book. I have it listed for a give-away (5 copies) through August 31. I just put it up today, so it might not be showing yet. I uploaded 59% of the book as a sample you can read through your browser if you want to take a peek. I think I cut it off at a real strategic cliff-hanger point, so careful if you start into it!

I read Dick and Jane in the 1960s. I love a good mystery...started with Encyclopedia Brown...then Agatha Christie where it really took off then on to Robin Cook and Patricia Cornwell. More recently Dee Henderson (Christian Based Author) who mixes up Romance, Mystery, and Action. Now and then a book my friend finds at the library for me.

Dear readers,We'd like to let you know about our new dual memoir, Double Life: A Love Story from Broadway to Hollywood, which will be published on October 18. Double Life is the story of our 50 year relationship as a gay couple living out in the open (but quietly) in in the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s entertainment, business and art worlds, during an era when we were encouraged never to mention our relationship out loud or show up at parties, events, or even the Emmys together (when Norman won for artwork on a TV film Alan produced).
Our book is a tour through an era when when what it meant to be gay was very different than what it means today. At the same time, it's a backstage tour of Mad Men era Madison Avenue advertising, the Hollywood studio scene, and the art worlds of New York City and Los Angeles.
About us:

Prior to that, he was an actor on Broadway and in television. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0790153/
Norman Sunshine is a painter and sculptor whose work is in permanent collections around the country. Earlier in his career, he was a fashion illustrator and Creative Director of the Jane Trahey Agency, where he coined the phrase “What Becomes a Legend Most?” for Blackglama Minks and “Danskins are not just for Dancing.” He won an Emmy for graphic and title design in the 1970s. Thank you for your time!

Hi everyone, my name is Emma and I am getting ready to self-publish my first novel in September this year (all being well with the final edit).
I am a voracious reader and like discussing books in all sorts of genres - the only thing I don't read a lot of is non-fiction. I've only been a member of Goodreads for a couple of months but I really enjoy it and hope to have some good conversations with you all about your favourite (and least favourite) books. :)
