Constance Hussey | 6 comments Hi,
My name is Constance Hussey, author of Regency-era historical romances and have a book coming out in August. "A Deceitful Widow" is being published by Pink Petal Books. I've been writing seriously for about 3 years, nights and weekends, and I am beyond excited to be published. This is a joint effort with my sister, Diana, and we write under the pen name Diana Hussey. Right now I am trying to learn all the ins and outs of on-line promotion, setting up a web-site, etc.,which can be overwhelming, as you all know. I appreciate the opporunity to join this group, hear about other experiences, and learn from you all!
The web-site is still under construction but in a few weeks you can find out more about us at dianahussey.com

Welcome, Constance!! Setting up a site and on-line promotion can be quite daunting but once you've gotten used to it will pay off big time.

If you need any tips etc, please don't hesitate to ask.

Yes, I write books and am a former journalist. Yes, I do like to read touching stories, such as Hans Christian Andersen's short stories. My current www.Christianstorytellr.com Best of Year book, Seasons of the Soul, is similar to Chicken Soup for the Soul books and includes faith and a spattering of accounts of my two different autistic sons. Additionally, my honorable mention, early-twentieth-century romance is released April 2012.

Jefferson Smith (jeffersonsmith) | 18 comments My name is Jefferson Smith. I've been reading YA SF+F since I was a YA myself. I'm a computer scientist who does research into how to help people be more creative when they use software, and I am also a published YA fantasy author. (Fun fact: I also used to work in Hollywood as a computer graphics special effects consultant.)

I'm joining a few online groups like this because I want to hear more about what readers are reading, and I also want to hear about what writers are writing, and how. As part of my writing process, I design new software tools for writers. Or maybe I write books as part of my research into writing tools. It's difficult to know where to draw the line.

Lastly, I am also a creativity researcher, and for each aspect of my work, I engage frequently with school-aged kids and their teachers - workshopping and discussing their own work, as well as involving them in my own creative processes.

Lisa Taylor (lisamtaylor) | 3 comments Hello!

I'm Lisa Taylor, and right now I live in Kentucky, in the U.S. I love to read and I love to write. I'm a new author, and have two books that have been released recently. One of them is a YA paranormal fiction entitled The Hour of Tiamat. The other is a poetry anthology called Book of Dreams and Nightmares. You can find them both in the Author List thread.

A little more about me, I have a B.S. degree in physics, spent four years in the US Army, and attended graduate school for physics though I decided not to stay. I love a good story, regardless of form, and so I probably spend as much time in my own imagination as I do out in the real world :)

I hope to get to know you all much better through groups and other functions on goodreads! I also have a website that I'm constantly updating if you're interested, at http://www.creatingworldswithwords.com

I also love to read! I'm excited to find some awesome stories here.

Two of my plays have been produced and subsequently published by Stained Glass Theatre in Ozark, Missouri and I was recently notified that the 2011-2012 season will open with a reprise of my first, Welcome to Joe's. I am currently a high school librarian, but spent the first ten years of my education career teaching English. I'm happy to be on Goodreads!

John Rhodes (John_D_Rhodes) | 29 comments Hi, I'm John D Rhodes or Johnny D - I'm starting to get my stories published via the e-book route with my novel Mr Memory, my first to burst forth. I also have a children's book ready to fly.

My Adult books are fantasy/humour, in roughly the same slightly off beat, off kilter genre ruled by the likes of Tom Holt, Robert Rankin, Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett.

I'm also a lover of biographies and I love Bill Bryson books, his books are the bain of my wife's life as I always find my self laughing out loud when she's watching tv or trying to get to sleep.

I do have a blog so you welcome to visit - I put short bits of stories here and odds and ends, it's new but I'd love some visitors:

Thanks

Dick Peterson (dickpeterson) Hi y'all,

I'm Dick Peterson. Reading and writing are two of my favorite things. The books I've read are too numerous to list here. I've only written one ... By the Light: A Novel of Serial Homicide. It is about the nasty relationship between a serial killer and humanity, as well as the romantic chemistry between the profiler and journalist/author on his trail. I look forward to discussing many books with you here and am counting on learning about some good ones to read.

Stephen Ramey (steveglines) | 1 comments I'm Steve Glines. I've written 5 techie books about an obsolete computer operating system and a book about teaching that operating system in Fiji. Actually I never mention in the book why I was in Fiji but my description of Fiji nightlife (the Red Light district was right in front of the US Embassy and on my way home) has made "Seven Days in Fiji" an Amazon best seller. I recently finished my first novel and am shopping for an agent. I also edit the Wilderness House Literary Review and Wilderness House Press. www.whlreview.com

message 1300: by L.D. (new)

L.D. Hello, I'm Irina and ever since I learned to read I've always had three or more books on my nightstand. I was that socially awkward elementary kid who wasn't quite sure how to make friends so I made friends with my books. It didn't matter how shy I was at recess because my books never judged me and gave me a great escape into more interesting lives and worlds.

I'm now older and no longer shy and timid with people, but my love for books and stories hasn't diminished. There's something about reading that will always be a wonderful, timeless activity that will always hold it's charm.

I'm not a writer and have no great aspirations to write a novel, however I do want to work on writing critiques on book. I haven't used that brain muscle in a while but I'm slowly getting it back in working order. I've always enjoyed writing more when I'm analyzing a book and hope I can make it a life long habit in order to keep my critical thinking and writing skills sharp for my lifetime.
