Ryan Morris (ryanmorris) Hi, my name is R. Tim Morris. I've been on GoodReads for a few years now. My first two novels are both available as free downloads.
Molt is a little bit mystery, a little bit sci-fi and a little bit love story, all gone wrong. It follows Isabelle Donhelle, an ornithology professor, as she finds herself in a relationship with an unusual student of hers. But is Templeton Rate everything he claims to be?
The Falling falls more into the category of Literary Fiction, and follows four friends in New York; their loves, careers and friendships. It's funny, heartfelt and beautiful, with a bit of a mystery in the middle.
I've recently finished my third novel, THIS NEVER HAPPENED, which again sees my writing return to a darker place. I would classify it as Speculative Fiction and I am happy to connect with interested Beta Readers.

C.D. Barros | 3 comments Hi everyone! I'm a reader who loves to write, and vice versa. I've lurked on Goodreads for 5 years or more, but recently built up the nerve to join with the release of my first novel, The Chairman:

Anyways, always looking for a great discussion about books and hope to get to know some of you. Cheers.

Alice-Elizabeth (Prolific Reader Alice) (marriedtobooks44) | 38 comments Hi everyone! I'm Alice, from England. Also known by my username Marriedtobooks44. Even though I have a boyfriend, me and books tied the knot ages ago ;P

I'm in my mid-teens and from a young age (around 3-4 years old) I've been reading constantly. I read everywhere including when I'm not supposed to. But don't tell my teachers!

My reading age was discovered to be higher than my actual age. This prompted me to read more and try out new genres. I do have a Kindle and my bedroom has over 300+ books in. For a few years now, I've wanted to join a site to review stories and very recently, I've worked up the courage to do just that. It's lovely to meet you all, feel free to connect with me on my various social media links on my profile and follow my reviews.

Just one thing that I would like to ask now. Any readers of Ancient Rome/Ancient Greece here? This is a period of Historical study that I am into at the moment (even though I don't study History) any fictional books from that time period that are good?

Alice.

Hi Alice,

When I was your age, I enjoyed reading I, Claudius (1961) by Robert Graves (Author)

The book was also the basis of a highly acclaimed mini-series

Colleen McCullough's Master's of Rome series is really good. I forget how many books are in it, but it tells the story of Rome's transition from republic to empire. They are fiction, but with a lot of historical detail. The first book in the series is The First Man in Rome.

T.K. Jones | 10 comments Hello, everyone.

My name is T. K. Jones and I just released my first book on Amazon. It is entitled, Down the Mine Shaft, and it is a mystery set in a rural Arizona town called Quartzsite. In real life I am a professional archaeologist, and I'm a big fan of non-fiction survival books like Skeletons of the Zahara, which tells the true story of a shipwreck off the coast of North Africa in the 1800s.

I look forward to getting to know the Goodreads crowd and interacting with them.

A quite good novel based on Greek mythology is Georgia Sallaska's Priam's Daughter, about Cassandra. Although mythology, it does deal with the subservient position of women which would've been true to the period. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25984869-priam-s-daughter

I also read a few others about Greek myths, but many years ago now so I don't know if I would still recommend those as much; would need to re-read.

Daniel Smith (danielsmith527) | 38 comments Hello all,

My name is Daniel Smith and I'm an author of the fantasy genre. Currently, my editor and I are finishing up my final edit. With the holidays coming up, I probably won't be able to self-publish it until the middle of January. My book is called Skies of Madness, the first in a planned trilogy. I've been on Goodreads for a long while but just as a reader. Moving forward as an author seems so daunting. Thank you all so much for creating support groups like this!

Rodney Hall | 5 comments I'm Rodney Hall and I live in the southeastern part of the U.S. I have two books published through Amazon, and both would fall into the psychological thriller genre. I am really excited about my most recent release, (October 2015) titled "Dark Echo." So far I have been informed by some of the readers that they don't want to read it after dark. Mission accomplished. :-)

Luna Saint Claire (lunasaintclaire) | 10 comments The Sleeping Serpent: A Woman's Struggle to Break an Obsessive Bond With Her Yoga Master

I'm Luna Saint Claire. I am a costume designer living and working in Los Angeles. The Sleeping Serpent is my debut novel about a woman's struggle to break an obsessive bond with her yoga guru. As arousing as 50 Shades, twisted as Gone Girl, and tortured as Wuthering Heights, The Sleeping Serpent is a gripping, masterful account of the seductive manipulations of a sociopath. Immensely erotic and psychologically captivating, at its heart it is a painfully beautiful exposition of unconditional love that makes us question what we truly want.

Nina Norstrom | 38 comments Hello Everyone:

Author, Nina Norstrom here . . .

In 1992, I started journal writing to help find solace. While keeping the journal, “writing therapy” became a method of treatment, in addition to other sources. The result of my writing experience was first published in 2010. Recently completed a second book, “Not a Blueprint: It’s the Shoe Prints that Matter, A Journey Through Toxic Relationships,” under the imprint Writelife.com.

Importantly and medically, this whole program of journaling has been a healing process. It has helped to shape and transform a toxic journey into a prescription for healthy emotional wellness. Truly, I’ve been blessed to have seen light at the end of a tunnel—and knowing I’ve reached a level of personal growth.

“It was through my dark journey that I’d learnt a powerful lesson: God never gives up on us. And it’s that reason alone why we should never give up on ourselves.”

I’m a passionate champion for many noteworthy causes, including those of toxic relationships. Toxic relationships, I love to join the fight against them. When not reading or writing, can be found mountain climbing, taking long walks in a park or alongside a beach, sitting at an entertainer’s venue, supporting an author at a book event, traveling, and even jumping in to exert my energy by doing volunteer work at a variety of places.
