Emma Dixon (jennere11) | 18 comments Hi, I'm Emma Dixon, I'm 15 and I love to read, but I also write in my spare time(not that I get much but anyway...) I've joined this group because I like the idea of sharing books and ideas. I've always liked the idea of these kind of groups and have always wanted to join one...and now ~I have! I look forward to seeing what the page is all about.
Thank you Vincent for sorting this page out, it is a truly wonderful idea :)

Daniel (goodreadscomDCSwart) | 3 comments I am a disabled army veteran, a family man, and a small business owner. I wrote poetry and short stories as a teenager. I got published in several anthologies and won a half dozen contests. My most noticeable was a national contest in 9th grade for a short story I wrote.

Currently writing the Ancient War Reborn Series. First book: Rocnar (all ready out), Second book: Thomas & Pitati (out in the next 30 days)

My wife is a bigger reader than I am. She gets at least triple the books read compared to me. I have a preference to write rather than read, but a book does grab my attention every now and again. I find I gravitate to books I can read in 1-2 afternoons.

Favorite book series of all time: Casca (a series of paperback novels, and since January 2014, ebooks as well, created and written by author Barry Sadler in 1979)

Katy (katharinrebecca) | 1 comments Hi guys! I'm Katy, born and raised in the Midwest and now living in California. I work in academic publishing during the day, and read voraciously at night. I'm working on my first novel, and have plans to go to grad school for my PhD in Anthropology/Archaeology.

I'm getting back into fiction mode after a long time away, and my first loves will probably always be fantasy and historical fiction. I like sci-fi and mysteries as well, and I'll pick up a cheesy romance novel every once in awhile (Nora Roberts, I'm looking at you). Nonfiction-wise, I love history, science, writing, technology, medicine, and psychology/sociology. I like some self-help and philosophical works, but I usually save those for when I can have group discussions. ;) All that to say that I'm always looking to expand my horizons, and you should feel free to add me - I'm always looking for new recommendations. Have a good one!

I'm Jennifer, and I'm the author of the Moriston House British Mystery Series: The French De Ception, The Uncertainty Principle, The Altered Suggestion, The Monday Criminologist, and the author and illustrator of a children's story, If the Sun was the Moon.

I enjoy reading the classics, mysteries, and poetry, when I'm not writing, writing, and writing!

Robby Hamlin Hey everybody - my name is Rob, and a good example of never being to old to dream - had my first book published last year by a great outfit in FL called Booklocker.com (The Curse of Iqbal: Memoir of a Ship Broker's Son)

Writing was always a passion, but a passion that the Fates were determined to deny me.

When I gave up writing to go backpacking for nine months with my girl friend, I never imagined I would live long enough to go back to it. That was in the Nixon administration!

Happy to be here, believe me

Lorraine Santoli | 9 comments Hi Everyone!
My name is Lorraine Santoli and I have four published books:
Inside the Disney Marketing Machine (2015)
The 10 Secrets to Organizing a Nonfiction Book (2013)
The Disneyland Resort: Magical Memories for a Lifetime (2002)
The Official Mickey Mouse Club Book (1995)

I'm delighted to join this group of fellow authors. I'm new to Goodreads and I'm just learning how it works. I'm a former Walt Disney Company marketing, PR, and synergy executive, hence my newest book, Inside the Disney Marketing Machine. It is a first-hand, insiders view of what happens behind Disney's closed marketing doors. The book details many marketing events, how the concepts were generated and how the ideas were implemented. In addition, the book opens the door to how Disney generated massive company synergies for high priority projects. In fact, as Director of Corporate Synergy for Disney I originated the internal communications system that resulted in synergy permeating the entire company. In doing so, divisional silos were eradicated and corporate profits soared. How did I do it? Read
my new book. Nobody markets like Disney. We sought explosure under every rock. You can do the same by what you learn in Inside the Disney Marketing Machine. Importantly, the book focuses specifically on the Disney era of Michael Eisner and Frank Wells in the eighties and nineties. It was a time of explosive growth for the company. They were both the Hollywood synergy masters and working under their leadership was an education in marketing.

One of my other books, a small ebook entitled The 10 Secrets of Organzing a Nonfiction book is targeted to those who have always wanted to write in that genre. It focuses on 10 key steps to take before you ever write one word. Follow the simple guidelines and your book will practically write itself. I promise.

An older book of mine, The Official Mickey Mouse Club Book chronicles the history of Walt Disney in early television focusing specifically on this children's series that made its debut in 1955. It is a classic program that made a tremendous impression on whose who are today's baby boomers. Who can forget the Mouseketeers, especially Annette Funicello (a dear friend of mine who left this earth too soon). In my tenure as a Walt Disney Company publicist, I met the original group when I was handling the publicity for their 25th Anniversary television special in 1980. I became very good friends with many of them, friendships that continue to this day. In fact, I continue to work with them at Disney special events to this day, not as a publicist but as a panel discussion moderator. Most recently I hosed a Mickey Mouse Club 60th Anniversary Show at D23, a massive Disney convention in Anaheim, CA, held in August 2015. Myself and eight original Mouseketeers plus the stars of the MMC serial, Spin & Marty, appeared. Just a few weeks ago, in early October, we also appeared in a special program at The Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco. So much fun!

I'm originally from New York, relocated to LA in the late seventies and started working at The Walt Disney Company in Burbank. I then resided in California for nearly 25 years during my time at Disney (1978-2000). I started with the company as a marketing assistant, moved up to become a TV and motion picture publicist, then to Disneyland as Supervisor of Publicity, and for my final decade at Disney, elevated to the position of Director of Corporate Synergy.

I left Disney in 2000 and started working as a freelance writer and PR consultant. I moved back to New York, my home, in 2003. I reside in upper Westchester about an hour north of New York City. I had a wonderful career with Disney, but it's great to be back home and closer to my family again. I love working at home and writing!

I'm looking forward to making new friends on Goodreads. I'm happy to answer questions and join in discussions. I'm naturally outgoing (after all I was a publicist!) and enjoy engaging with new friends.

I hope to meet you on Goodreads!

Lorraine Santoli

Patrick Hodges | 33 comments It's been a while since I've posted on this forum - I just recently had a kidney removed (it was cancerous) and am completing three weeks of recovery before I get back into the swing of things.

My name is Patrick Hodges, and last year I decided to finally get off my duff and write a story that I'd been writing in my head for a while. I wrote and self-published the whole thing in four months, and, just last month, my story (entitled Joshua's Island) was awarded a Gold Medal in the Readers Favorite Book Awards (in the YA/Social Issues category). Shows what a little determination can get you, at the young age of 45.

I followed Joshua's Island up with another story that I love just as much, a sequel entitled "Ethan's Secret," and so far, reception has been incredible. I am currently working on my third book in the series, and I hope to have it out by next spring.

It took me a while, but I think that I have found my niche - writing stories about preteens and teens, but not only FOR preteens and teens, but anyone who just loves to read.

It's great to be part of this community. Any one of you may feel free to friend me!

Patrick Hodges

Tim Eastman | 1 comments Hi my name is Tim Eastman, I am currently writing the last chapter of my first novel. I love writing, reading and watching good movie adaptations of novels I've read- which is really difficult because I don't think script writers can actually read, or if they can, they just choose to ignore the books they base their movies on. I know... maybe script writers don't know how to read the books they write their scripts for, that would explain everything. Regardless I do love a good movie.

Robert Salisbury | 5 comments Hello authors/readers

My name's Robert and I'm the author of a fantasy/ adventure novel. Although I joined Goodreads last year out of curiosity, I've only just rejoined as a Goodreads author, as I realized that two editions of my novel were listed separately, and I wanted to merge them.

I'm a middle-aged Englishman, and I enjoy writing about almost anything except myself!

Paula Houseman (paulahouseman) | 75 comments Hi all, I'm Paula. A relative newbie to Goodreads, I'm still finding my way around the site.

I've recently released 'Odyssey in a Teacup', a baby boomer, coming-of-age satire ('The Ugly Duckling' meets 'The Odyssey'), and it made the bestseller list in the first two weeks ... woohoo!
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0153VEB2I/r...

I'm well into the sequel, but I'm also blogging about the nature of ancient myths — these crazy stories and their characters form the deepest patterning for, and go a long way to explaining the absurdity of the human condition (our existence is really just ancient myth in modern attire).

G.W. Lwin (greglwin) | 6 comments Hi Everyone,

My name is Greg, lives in Australia and I am new to Goodreads and am excited to be part of this group.

I love anything that comprises of the old and the ancient full of rich history and spirituality. For me, reading and learning from our ancient past is truly a beautiful, unique and intriguing journey.

Since at a young age, I feel there are two versions of me living within. The old spiritual me and a young soul who still lives in his fantasy world.

However, both of these versions share one commonality - my passion for vampires from the ancient mythology and beliefs. I was mesmerised by their folklore since at a young age.

And it is this passion that leads me to write my first debut novel of the trilogy called 'THE SAMSARIC.'

I will be releasing my novel on the 14 Nov 2015 on Amazon. My website is still under development but you can find me on my facebook author profile page here;

https://www.facebook.com/GWLwin/?ref=hl

My need to express is very strong within me. Writing, for me, provides this gateway and helps me to grow as a person. It is a life-long learning path that I gladly embark.

As a writer, I would like to get better at each and every moment, to possess the skills to craft the expressions that arise from the heart into words that provide fulfillment to the readers... a common vision shared by many authors.

Kind Regards,

Greg Lwin

Lora Shouse My name is Lora Shouse. I write Fantasy books, and have recently published a book, She Who Is Always Sick. It is meant to be the first book of a trilogy called The Not-So-Beautiful Princess. There is currently a giveaway on Goodreads for this book. It ends November 29.

In the book, 8-year old Cathy Sherridan travels to the magical land of Ettria, but before she can accomplish what everybody assumes to be her "mission", she is captured by Goblins and sent to their capital where she is thrust into a competition for the "honor" of becoming the bride of the Goblin Emperor's grandson.

I'm Gary. I only recently began to actively engage with Goodreads. I've got a few books, taught in NYC for about a dozen years, have traveled fairly extensively and just moved from the USA to Thailand with my wife and two dogs. I Googled "reviews of Booksviral.com" tonight just before I was going to shell out $150 or so for a paid review and discovered a fascinating discussion. Anyway we are living in Rawai Beach, Phuket, and I am now concentrating on writing more, promoting my books and continuing to connect with readers and authors. Cheers!

Paul Martin Schofield (paulschofield1gmailcom) | 1 comments Hello,

My name is Paul M. Schofield and I write science-fiction, action-adventure. I grew up reading the classics like Asimov, Herbert, Philip K. Dick, etc. and have patterned my writing in their style with accurate science and plenty of action. My books have mature themes but are clean reads, suitable for younger readers.

After completing 100 pages for a Creative Writing class I threw all my attempts into a drawer to sit dormant for 19 years. A literary friend encouraged me to finish the story and finally Trophy (Book 1 of The Trophy Saga) was complete. But the story wasn't finished so I continued with book 2 and then book 3. I still love to read, and work on a fourth book is underway.

For more information on The Trophy Saga please go to my website at: http://www.paulmschofield.com/ Links there to Amazon will let you read a few chapters in each book.

Thank you for reading this and for this great group.
