Hi everyone, my name is Stephanie Swanbeck, and I'm pleased to be here. I'm currently working on my first novel, which has already been in my head for 2 years. I am both thrilled and terrified to be taking the leap and writing this book. It's a fiction book, though I'm still trying to figure out exactly which kind. I'm looking to make friends with authors and readers alike, so feel free to say hello or send a friend request. Thanks! :)
Hi everyone!
My name is Tom Grant. I'm a brand new author and published my very first book on Amazon..."The Little Pink Book"...just 2 months ago. I write "sensual & erotic short stories" that makes you, the "reader", the focal point of each story. I am looking for readers, reviewers and people who can me spread the word. So far, the general consensus is that it's definitely "different"...in a GOOD way.
Please take a quick peek and let me know your thoughts:

I hope to hear from you...Thanks! :)

Hello everybody. My name is Brian Triplett. I wrote a fantasy suspense thriller called "Crosses and Runes." Imagine a book about FBI agents trying to foil a terrorist plot, only the law enforcement characters are elves with magic powers and the terrorists are vampires working with an evil sorceress.I am currently working on book two in the series. I'm hoping to write at least three volumes in The Summersgate Chronicles. You may find the first book at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iTunes, Imktera, Kobo, Oyster, and Scribd.
Crosses and Runes
I am from the Gulf Coast (U.S.). I am a curious creature by nature. I'm the person you will forever see Googling or researching some odd topic just because I'm wondering about it. I read so many different genres it's hard to name a favorite. I have always had a love for reading. I believe having a love for reading usually spills over into a love for writing. I don't write anything professionally or for publishing. I usually write just to write and for my eyes only.
It's very nice to see so many Goodreads authors here and fellow book lovers! Thanks for this thread!
Hey everyone, I am a self-publishing author from North Carolina. I love words of George Macdonald, who said, "I do not write for children but for the childlike." That sums up what I do and why I do it. Children's literature is just a medium; inspiring a sense of wonder in people of all ages is the goal.
Welcome Brian, Chris, and J.! I agree with you J. about what George MacDonald said. He's always been one of my favorite authors, anyway.
Hi, I'm Helen :-) I love to read most genres, and I also love to write. I've been working as a freelance writer for about ten years, and just over two years ago sat down and started to write my first book. This has now become a series of six books, the Ambeth Chronicles. Books one and two, Oak and Mist and No Quarter, have been published, and I'm now busy editing book three. I also blog at journeytoambeth.com. I'm finding Goodreads fascinating as I love books - the library is one of my favourite places to be - so to find a place dedicated to reading and discussing stories is fantastic!

Hello Vincent..and firstly, thank you for starting..."
Hi Vincent I'm Jim. I write under J.W. Webb. I am quite new to Goodreads and am excited to be part of this group, which was recomended to me by a Goodreads member. I write mostly fantasy novels and have two currently on my author profile, plus a novella ghost story, with another epic fantasy currently being formatted.
I am very fortunate in knowing the Tolkien illustrator, Roger Garland, who has created many images and sketches which feature throughout my books and on my website www.legendsofansu.com
I am an ex trucker who recently moved from Cornwall, England to Georgia USA. After many years pursuing my dream under duress, I find myself at last realising it as an indie author. I love reading, mostly history, historical fiction, fantasy and war/action adventure. I am looking forward to engaging with folk in this group!
cheers!

Hi all. It's very apparent I'm knew to this as I just posted in the wrong place :( as an ex trucker I struggle a bit with techi stuff.I write fantasy books under the name J.W.Webb. I have 3 out on Goodreads plus a ghost story novella. The artwork featuring throughout my ongoing fantasy series is by Tolkien Illustrator, Roger Garland, who I'm fortunate enough to know. His work can also be viewed on my website www.legendsofansu.com
Very happy to be here! sorry I posted in the wrong place!
Hi Vincent,My name is Layla, I write under the name, L. N Denison. I have two books on the go, with a 3rd on the way. My main novel is called Going Underground. It is a Dystopian Urban Sci-Fi with very dark overtones. The second is part one of a trilogy of Novella's based around one of the main characters of the main book. I'm an independent author, publishing through the likes of Amazon to get my work out there. I am also and avid reader as of late. I think the fact that I write has given me a renewed love for reading.
I am looking forward to being an active part of this group, and hope that I can share my work with you.
All the best,
L
GonersHi,
I'm I.O. Neil, writer of a new YA novel, book one of a series. I also write in other categories and genres which I'm working on right now.
I love writing, reading, (don't love editing but of course, I have to do it), photography and filmmaking.
I'm excited to be part of the Goodreads community.
Lenita wrote: "Welcome Layla! Writing had given me a new love for reading, as well."thank you for the welcome, Lenita. I am happy to be a part of this group :-)
Welcome to all new members. I have introduced myself long ago on here. If this post is regarded as spam I ask the moderators to please delete it. However, I do think this is a good way for author and reader to get to know each other better. Anyway, I have an invitation for everyone. I have started a new blog and I'm writing thriller-related articles for the sole purpose of entertaining readers. I really don't think blogs sell books but they do give a writer a platform to showcase their writing skills. Sure, I've got links on there to my novels and I think that it's important for readers to get to know an author before buying their books. It makes it more personal if the author can be asked questions or if a reader can share ideas. I am currently writing another psychological thriller and would like some fresh ideas. I have the outline of the book already done but maybe someone can throw something in there to make the story more enticing. If that happens that person will get honorable mention in the book. Visit me. Tell me what you would like to see in a thriller. Maybe it can be an inspiration for a whole new novel. Here's my blog. http://jmbrownpsychologicalthrillers....
Hello people, my name is Connie Jordan. I am the author of three poetry books: Matters of the Heart, Personification of Injustice and The World through a Poet's Eyes http://www.amazon.com/Connie-Jordan/e...
all sold on Amazon and Barnes & Noble - I believe in what love could do in today's world and hope that we will reach the goal intended. Until that time here is my prayer:
IF I DIED TOMORROW
With all that is happening in the world today,
I began to wonder, if I died tomorrow
what from this life would I want to borrow,
Pure love with no sorrow!!
Like the love you feel for your parents as a child
or the love you feel as a parent for your
newborn son or daughter, the love
you feel for your significant other,
Even after the storms you've shared with each other,
the kind of love that fills your heart, once you
become aware that people care as you
witness the good men do
Even with life's burdens, which they carry;
knowing that to be a start to where we
need to go, I'd wrap myself in that love
until I met my father, then
I would ask my God to intensify neither disqualify,
a living soul of this age old power, the most
powerful thing that comes from within,
That feels so real and is easy to achieve,
when you open your heart and experience LOVE
for your worldly sisters and brothers;
may God's grace, lead you to this place of power
Have a great day!!!

Hello!I am Joanna Tilsley (aka xYz) and I am both author and illustrator of 30 Days, an anthology of poems about science, cosmology and nature.
30 Days has proliferated and been used and shared in the science and art community all around the world, and is being used by US high school teachers during classes to engage students not otherwise interested in science. My work has been referenced by both Scientific American and Nautilus Magazine. You can read about all the ways it’s been used on my Goodreads blog. So I hope it might be of interest to members of this Goodreads group.
I think that Goodreads is an absolutely fantastic resource. I stumbled upon my book listed here only a few days ago and took ownership of it. Since then I’ve been making full use of the author tools, updating my Goodreads Author Profile, and information about my book, adding photos, and updating my blog. It’s just been fantastic, because writing and publishing was such a labour of love and such a leap of faith!
I’m currently applying for art grant funding to upgrade my current computer setup, which is now struggling with basics, and in support of my grant applications, I will be listing my Goodreads Author Profile . Without new equipment I will not be able to create a sequel to 30 Days, and I’m really hoping that the awarding bodies will think I’m a worthy cause, after reading the reviews of my book on this site. Wish me luck!
If you want to know what happens with my application, please do follow me as an author on Goodreads and please also feel free to comment on any of my blog postings. You can also connect with me as xYz on Facebook and @xYzPortal on Twitter.
Happy dreams

Hi, my name is Mario Zecca, I am an artist who writes poems (I have recently been the featured poet at several poetry gatherings and been asked for permission to "print" my poem "To Kazantzakis" in several online poetry magazines) and prose (The Goddess of Pigland) and I also compose songs. I write a lot of my thoughts down, usually in a poetic or lyrical form. I think we are all responsible for what happens in the world and that my best songs and poems were written after going through the most difficult periods in my life. I am usually reading several books at a time and listening to one recorded book simultaneously. I also cook and am a former cooking instructor, street musician, councilman, drug abuser, construction worker, illustrator, gallery artist, senior companion, bouncer, web site designer and coffee house manager and life-time heuristic student.

Hi, I am Pat Smith Hopper from South Texas on the Gulf. This past year I self-published my book "Always, Ian, The Discovered Journey of Ian Morrison Smith in World War II." It is a personal record of his letters home to my Mom and me while he was at war. Full of letters, pictures, cartoon clips, news clips and histories, this book takes us through the passion, loneliness, fear and courage that so many of the young men and women faced.
It took me a long time to write. At the beginning I was only wanting to preserve and share this story with my large family and grandkiddos. As it unfolded through the letters, I realized it is a tale shared by thousands of soldiers throughout hundreds of years.
Now, I am joining this group, hoping to open up some discussion of writing family stories, especially through letters. It was quite a trick for me to figure out how to organize this book and create some of the wider world Dad experienced at that time. Also, I became aware of the deep vein of courage and hope he had to forge through the horrors and come home dedicated to world health and peace.
I would love to hear from anyone who is writing or has written from letters.
Thanks, Pat Smith Hopper

Hi, my name is Robert, and I publish fiction under the name W.R. German. I'm self-publishing and trying to do my own publicity for my new novel "Berlin", which is about the reunification of Germany.I have to say that it's a real slog trying to get reviews and readers, even with pricing my e-book at 99 cents on Amazon. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
