Kees Bijker | 8 comments Hello everybody,
Relatively new here so may have posted flukes in the past not having found my way around as yet.

I am Kees Bijker and I have written 2 books now. First one was a bundle of poetry and the latest is the first installment of my science fiction trilogy (which may get 4 volumes). I am currently revamping the cover and the layout of the poems so it is not available right now.
I am Dutch, have lived in the UK for 23 years before moving to Bulgaria. This is why I write, and read, in English I suppose.
You may find out more about me by visiting my author page and mailing me.

It just received its first review and it was a nice 5 star as well. Only one but they mean a lot at these beginning stages.
For all those that do leave a meaningful review for my debut novel, I have a free paperback available. Looks good on your bookshelf I am sure.
Happy reading all,
Kees

R.J. Gould | 10 comments Hello. My name is Richard and I live in Cambridge, England. I have recently (at last!) had my first two novels published by Accent Press using a slight pseudonym RJ Gould. The reason I've used my initials is because it's unusual for a male to write about Romance and the publisher thought it might be best not to make it obvious at first glance that I'm male! It's true that most of my readers are women but they seem to enjoy having a male writer providing a male protagonist's point of view. I do hope that is the case and I'd like to encourage more men to write Romance. My books are 'A Street Cafe Named Desire' and 'The Engagement Party'.

Dove Winters | 83 comments Hi, everyone! I'm Dove and I am working hard to get my book published! I write YA fiction, I like it to have lots of action, some romance, and funny moments sprinkled in. The series I'm starting follows five kingdoms in a medieval-ish time period. Hope to have it out soon!

Jay Cole (jay_cole) | 292 comments Hello All!

My name is Jay Cole and I primarily write humor and comedy, although I can be very flexible on genre if your check clears.

My latest book is Conversations with Larry Xenomorph, a romantic comedy with a sci-fi twist (NOT hardcore sci-fi, although a Xenomorph is indeed an alien). However, have no fear, the humor is clean and punchy, as am I.

A little more risqué, although also a romantic comedy is my previous book, Sexual Evolution in which technology has literally replaced sex and all marriages are now arranged by a Federal Marriage Bureau. Nothing quite says romance like an entrenched bureaucracy and threats of imprisonment. The humor is broad and farcical, and two of the main characters have never quite forgiven me.

Excerpts are available on Goodreads for both books.

I thank you for welcoming a newbie to Goodreads and this discussion group.

Eric Mrozek (eric_mrozek) | 17 comments Hi, I'm Eric. I like to write in all sorts of genres, but I am primarily inspired by science fiction and fantasy novels.

My newest book is Destruction, a Fantasy/War Dairy that is told from a single POV character (that happens to be an elf). Fair warning: It's dark. Really dark.

Thanks for welcoming me.

Rian Nejar (riannejar) Hello from HOT Southwest! Am relatively new to Goodreads, but not to publishing; have been co-authoring, editing, and publishing books since 2010. For a quick, introductory view, a recent publication:

Humbling and Humility by Rian Nejar
Humbling and Humility (HnH) by Rian Nejar

Briefly, HnH is an intense and detailed narrative of an Indian-American father and husband's struggle with betrayal, by his spouse, and its consequences upon himself and his children.

Including a critical view of state intervention, into domestic discord, in families in America, the narrative explores this father's attempts to mitigate harm and accommodate disruptive life changes in non-violent ways, both in his family and in other families in similar predicaments.

In raw and honest discussions, with no pretense of holding back, this new work dives into culture and gender differences, and the many challenges immigrants face in America.

In essence, a tale of empathy, compassion, and love...amidst loss and suffering. Life, and humanity, in short.

More about myself in the author page above. Please...feel free to comment, connect, and otherwise communicate!

My name is Casey Browning. I am a recently published Children's Picture book author. I have many more that I am working on and hope to get published in the future. I am a huge fan of puns, word play and rhymes. Not everything I write is in rhyme but a lot of them have fun word play. The book that I have had successfully published is called Ol' Halloween Night. Its about the wonderful creepiness of Halloween. My wife, Kimberlee, did the fantastic illustrations.

Hello, I have no idea what I'm doing.

I'm a Goodreads virgin, and I've heard that this is a good place to engage with readers. Hello readers. I'm a newbie author, writing children's comedy.

I've had a little bit of success in the past as a sitcom writer (I once had a show broadcast on BBC Radio), but I was inspired to write for children after the death of my father.

It was very strange - a sudden irrepressible urge on the way back from the funeral. Perhaps I felt that the responsibility for entertaining and nurturing the younger generation was passing from Dad to me. (At 40+ I'm now the oldest male in our little family.)

My dad was imperfect in a number of ways, but he got the important stuff right. He protected us and encouraged us, and I think that's good enough. Fundamentally that's what my first book The Gorilla Babysitter is about.

The Gorilla Babysitter by G. K. Wood

An outcast gorilla and a bereaved lion are my imperfect father figures. But they both protect little Ruby the lion cub in their own peculiar ways, and build a better life for her.

Did I mention it's a comedy? I've read a lot of supposedly funny books to my kids, and we get a few titters and the odd chortle now and again, but rarely a proper laugh. My aim was to challenge that and put the humour first.

Have I succeeded, dear reader? Well, only you can tell me that.

Anyway, thanks for tolerating me, and I look forward to being part of this, and perhaps even persuading a few of you to read about a babysitting Scottish gorilla with a mince pie habit :-)

Thanks,

GK Wood

I think that is an excellent concept. The role of men in caring for children and mentoring them has become almost forgotten these days.

Donald Firesmith | 19 comments Hi. I'm Don Firesmith. I've authored 7 technical software books and two fantasy books. I just started working on my second book in the Hell Holes series. This one is going to be a full novel rather than a novella and will begin at the first book's ending cliffhanger. I have their escape route researched all the way to Fairbanks and I've largely decided what happens where along the way. I finally started writing a couple of evenings ago, and I'm up to page 11 so far. Hope to write another ten pages this weekend.

For those of you who haven't entered the Amazon.com drawing to win a free copy of the first book, the deadline is midnight tonight Pacific Daylight Time. Click here to enter
