Yeah... They have the 4th of July weekend this coming weekend, and from what I can gather not much gets done for a couple of days before and after it.

V.L. Brunskill (readwritelive) | 3 comments Hi there Vincent. V.L. Brunskill here in Savannah, Georgia. I love this group's energy! I am a Goodreads author and my first novel 'Waving Backwards' officially releases on July 10th. It is a Savannah novel published by Southern Yellow Pine (SYP) Publishing. I am blessed to have a college bound kiddo, a bass player husband and a brand new career at the age of 50. I was an international music journalist in Boston for a decade, and have a billion stories to share. Just ask? 'Cause my kiddo is sick of hearing them! Hugs and thanks for the intro opp.

Karen Bedore (ladyalcinia) | 8 comments Ciao everyone!

I am a band director by day, author by night, mom to a toddler and coffee-a-holic runner. I have my first book out currently, "The Bard," which I will post in a moment under "Romance" (it's technically Historical Fiction/Romance), with a sequel coming along as I type this (I 'think' there will be 4 books total in the series: a trilogy and a 'side' story. And oh yeah--it's up for a giveaway until the 25th!)

Goodreads is a maze I am navigating as I begin to unfold the mysteries of marketing...

Hoping to share ideas, books, and reviews!

Jess Fulton | 5 comments Hello! I'm Jess. I was born a Californian but grew up as a 'desert rat' I am from Nevada U.S. No I do not wear a cowboy hat and boots (all the time).
I am quite new to all of this Goodreads site business. First, I would like to thank everyone that takes so much time and puts so much effort into creating these groups. This is a whole new world for me and so far I think it is amazing! Reading so many posts and jotting down book after book that peek my interest, I have come to one conclusion: there is not going to be time to read them all. Someone needs to come up with a speed reading course, that really works!
I love to read, many different genres but mainly a book with some value. When I crossed a certain point on the timeline of my life, I started looking at the rest of the timeline a little more seriously. Writing has been a passion of mine for quite some time, at least since I could hold a pencil in my hand. I started writing poems and have ventured out to a self- published book "Weaving a Tapestry of Dreams". Available in eBook and paperback from Amazon.
Thanks again to you all.

S.S. Delaunay (ssdelaunay) Thanks Nik! Always good to meet a fellow titanium femur owner - we have the best adventure stories. Although it seems you're not short on adventure stories in many ways! Look forward to the x-ray exchange :)

Indeed, not all of them were good though.
I haven't been to Australia for 14 years now and I absolutely love the continent. I'll take the x-rays with me next time I pay a visit -:)
A friend of mine in Sydney and maybe few sharks near the G. Barrier Reef are waiting....

message 10583: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Wise | 1 comments Hello everyone. I am very excited to join this group. I am an author, I teach part-time in several universities, and work full time in IT. My writing is in the very early hours of the morning. I enjoy writing YA, and also write nonfiction in organizational management topics. My reading tends to be in historical fiction and current news topics. I noticed a lot of folks posting that they hope to publish some day. For those that hope, I would say this - keep pushing and get it done. I learned the hard way. One key to getting it done is write, then edit-edit-edit, then pay an really good editor. My first novel, "The Borealis Genome" won several awards in spite of poor editing, so sometimes the writing can overcome the process. ( I can't edit very well on my own as you may be able to tell by this post) Looking forward to meeting new folks here.

Scott Foley (scottfoley) | 3 comments Hi everyone, I'm Scott. I'm a fantasy reader turned author, I'm about to release my first novel Knight of Aslath. Been on Goodreads for a few years but not actively, so getting used to being more sociable after years slaving over my manuscript. More info here: Knight of Aslath and here: http://www.scottfoleybooks.com

Look forward to participating in the forums more and getting to know you guys better!

PS I live in Manchester, UK and came to writing after being sucked into roleplaying games at the age of 11 via the Fighting Fantasy game books (anyone remember them?). From there it was a short step to being asked (coerced) to be a 'dungeon master'. From there an even shorter step to writing novels where I realised I could wield ultimate power... mwah hah hah :-)

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 2898 comments Welcome to the group, Thomas, and Scott!

Scott: I've been roleplaying since childhood too. I only started to read novels based on the systems I play recently though.

Jacob A. (therealjaross) | 2 comments Hello, my name is Jacob Ross. I just self-published my first book Artemus The Unlikely Hero. My kids were my inspiration to actually put stories I told into a book format.

I wish I could say I was a big reader but it would be a lie. I generally start getting lost in my own imagination when I read and find myself re-reading the same pages over and over again.

I am currently working on a short story that I will also self-publish through Amazon.

I plan to :) This has been quite the journey but it has been amazing fun and I've already met some amazing people online and my book hasn't even released yet.

My book is a motorcycle club romantic suspense :) The first in, what I plan to be, a series of 4 books.

message 10592: by Christian (new)

Christian Boustead | 23 comments Jerry good luck with the four books thing I was thinking my own series would be three books but part way through the second volume I am not so sure! Do I say again good luck with the four books. But forget that for now and consent rate on getting that book out and do not forget to enjoy writing too much edeting can make Jerry a dull girl
