J.D. Chandler (jdchandler) | 3 comments my first book Mud Bay is being reissued in a new eBook edition. I am very axcited that I had the chance to completely revise the text before publication. The result is a mystery with well-loved characters that is now tighter in the writing and the plot.

I live in Portland, OR and the pacific Northwest is my beloved region. I use geography very vividly in my writing. My goal is to make the place a character in the book. How do you think I did?

I would love to hear from other readers and writers. I write in several different genres, so if you're not into mysteries lets talk anyway.

Pauline Toohey (paulinelouise) | 2 comments G'day. Pauline from Australia. My time is split equally between writing and reading, and I'm looking for that break into the historical fiction, literary market. Two novels completed, three more in progress. Patience is a virtue - apparently.

An easel and oil paints sit close by for the times my pen suffers from an undiagnosed malady. I've painted lots.

I'm a member of a terrific writers' (critiquing) site and was pointed in this direction. Looking forward to exploring the myriad of cyber corridors.

Hi, Pauline. I also paint and write. Do you find that getting in a different rhythm of creating refreshes you when you return to writing?

Danielle Pierre (daniellepierre) | 4 comments Hi everyone! My name is Danielle Pierre and I'm a personal development author, life coach and speaker. I reside in the San Francisco area - love nature and the city life so it's a perfect blend. I've started posting some of my personal development articles here (in my blog) if you'd like to check them out and hopefully you'll find them useful. Let's see - love to read as well as write so I'm looking forward to checking out some of your books. If any of you would like to recommend one of your books, please feel free and I'll add it to my ever-growing list.

That's about it. Great to connect with you all and I look forward to sharing! Be well. :)

Fiona McGier | 69 comments Hi Danielle, I write realistic characters involved with contemporary erotic romances. I have a series about a large Hispanic family and the people they fall in love with. One has a heroine who is a "player", and she has to pretend to be seeking therapy from an analyst who follows Maslow's tenets for self-actualization, which I explain during the course of her "treatment". Twist is that he's blind, so she has to work at figuring how to seduce him!
You can find covers and excerpts at my website:
www.fionamcgier.com

I might take a peek at your articles, since I'm working hard at a coupla dead-end p/t jobs, since staying home with my kids made my career plans skid to a halt. Not sure how to proceed, but with 3 in college next year, I need a better paying job!

message 1006: by Danielle (new)

Danielle Pierre (daniellepierre) | 4 comments Hi Fiona - I will definitely check your book out - sounds interesting! I've only posted a few articles here but will be adding many more that you might find useful if you want to follow them - or you can go to my website http://daniellepierre.com -- there's some online income opportunities there (legit) as well as personal development resources and lots of freebies. I hope something there will be useful to you.

Thanks for connecting and the book info - I'll add it now. Have a great evening! :)

Olena Burda-lassen | 1 comments Fruits, vegetables and music for kids? Yes, it's all in one book: The Vitamin Band (www.thevitaminband.com).

Hi, I'm Olena, The Vitamin Band's author.
My new book encourages healthy eating and introduces young readers to music. In this book delicious fruits and vegetables help teach children and their parents how to play 7 musical notes on the piano and read sheet music.

The Vitamin Band is printed on recycled paper using soy based ink: lead and phthalate free.

Kathryn Lance | 7 comments Good evening, everyone. I'm a very confused author new to Goodreads. I've just started putting my out of print work up on Smashwords, and want to find new readers. When I got here, I found out that many of my books (including a bunch of YA's under my pseudonym, Lynn Beach), are already listed here. I also want to get involved in discussions of other people's books, and also could offer tips to fledgling writers. I just don't know where to begin with any of this. I have one fan--the guy who told me about Goodreads. So... suggestions gratefully accepted.Kathryn Lance

I just went to your profile, and that is a phenomenal-looking snake.

I'm not sure how the book listings work here, but maybe someone who reads this does.

Kathryn Lance | 7 comments I want to thank the people who friended me yesterday. I hope to become more active here and in other parts of Goodreads when I have a little more time. At the moment I am updating my website (and moving it to a new host), still working on uploading more of my previously-published work to Smashwords, and trying in general to get on top of this exciting new book e-world. I will be offering some coupons for free and discounted books soon.

Feel free to 'friend' me - I love to meet new people. Thought I'd put it out there rather than annoy others who may not want some strange lady friending them : )

Scott (scott_niven) Hi there! My name's Scott Niven and I've been on GoodReads since this past summer. Now that I've set myself up as an author on here, I guess I can officially join this group!

I'm a speculative fiction writer with two published books: Twilight Candleflies and Sunset Lavaflies. I'm also a single father, a runner, and a not-very-good-but-I-try-hard photographer.

I've loved books my whole life, and I love having people recommend good books to me (which is probably why I love GoodReads so much). If you've got a book to recommend, let me know!

If you'd like to visit my website, the url is www.scott-niven.com

Looking forward to chatting with everyone and making some new friends! :)

Seriously.
I write paranormal erotic romance, urban fantasy, horror, and sci-fi. message 1031: by Carrie (new)

Carrie Olguin (keriokie) | 15 comments Hello everyone.

I fell in love with the romance genre as a teen. My fave sub-genres are historical and paranormal/fantasy.

My fave authors (right now) are Karen Marie Moning, Gena Showalter, Robin Owins for pranormal/fantasy and Mary Wine, Terri Brisbin (Highlander) and Elizabeth Rolls for historical.

I am also an author, both non-fiction and fiction. My non-fiction works are pattern books for the model horse hobby and my fiction works are romantic fantasy (paranormal/speculative fiction).

I self-pub and have a publisher. Moongypsy Press will be releasing my Five Worlds series starting with Fire and Ice, by summer. I have a short in the series called "Soul Swap - Promises" available now on Amazon with the proceeds donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Read a story and help save a life.

On a more personal note, my 9-year-old son plays travel ice hockey, which takes up more time than any of the other sports he has tried. He keeps us busy!

Thanks and again hello to everyone,

Carrie O.

Sarah Remy (sarahremy) | 2 comments Hallo, all!

My name is Sarah and I live on the east side of Washington state.

I'm both a writer and a reader. I read everything and write fiction. As far as I'm concerned, life is most interesting when it's splashed on a page.

I have two young children, two young dogs, two old cats, two young horses and three ageless tortoises. My children call me Dr. Doolittle.

For sport I jump big horses over small fences and practice yoga.

For relaxation I garden, DIY my old house, and knit.

For fun I am a recess aide at the local elementary school and...er...watch FRINGE on my ipad when I have the time. Which is not often.

I'm looking forward to spending time here.

Alecia (aleciak) | 1 comments I'm Alecia. In the hustle and bustle of raising three children I somehow forgot how much I love to read. Bitten by the bug again I can't seem to stop. My husband busted up laughing the other day when he picked up my latest read and asked, "What are you reading now?" He's become quite used to lugging in several book bags, from the local library, every time he fetches the mail.

I'm almost 43 and would love to author my own series. It's just a thought tumbling around in my head...persistently tugging on my heart.

Bailey Bristol (baileybristol) | 27 comments It's an honor to greet you all! I am a lifelong reader and now author of the recently released LOVE WILL FOLLOW: An American Tale of Love and Peril. I've written my heroine’s “happily ever after” framed in compelling historical suspense. The book’s central character, Kittie Thornton, left the Orphan Train in Kansas as a terrified 10-year-old, saying goodbye to her brother and walking away with the German family who showed her everything family should not be. At 18, Kittie fled the abuse, taking with her another battered child. Unbeknownst to her, Kittie’s brother Penn has been killed at Wounded Knee, leaving his best friend, Jake Kannady, to take his half-breed baby and find his sister – Kittie. But she has disappeared. Rich with poignant, mystical dream scenes and glimpses of what family can truly be, I've endeavored to weave a tale of danger and endurance, loss and depravity, honor and trust...and a love that blurs the lines between hope and the spirit world.

I'm new to the group, and am really happy I found it! I'm an author/screenwriter/director, and recently completed my first novel, which I'm in the process of publishing.

I love to read, but have two kids, so not as much time for that as I'd wish.

Tend to gravitate towards books with LGBT characters, but not really into a specific genre.

You can learn more about me and my new novel at www.kerganedwards-stout.com

Thanks!

Stephanie Zia (stephz) | 4 comments Hi,

I'm an author and reader. I live in London with my partner and daughter. I've been on Good Reads a while but have never explored this community side before and look forward to delving in more and discovering other books in my genre of fun but intelligent fiction for older women. My blog Confessions of an Author documents my struggle over the past 5 years to get my 3rd novel published after my original publisher and agent dropped me after my 2nd novel. I moved into self-publishing about a year and a half ago. Since then the blog has become a much more cheerful place! I've published several of my works as ebooks, the latest being my novel Ten Good Reasons To Lie About Your Age, a romantic comedy for the baby boomer age. I blogged about the whole experience of moving into ebooks, learning the technical side and passing on tips. This grew into another ebookHow To Publish An Ebook On A Budget - An Author's Guide to the Cheap Yet Professional Way to Get Your Writing Up For Sale on Kindle, iBooks, Barnes & Noble and Your Own Website - epublishing from a non-geeky author's perspective. I have just started epublishing other authors and am currently exploring the world of Print on Demand. I read all sorts of books. I love my Kindle but I'm also a library addict, I love going to my local library and seeing what I find. I'm glad the news that ebooks are actually promoting print books rather than replacing them is taking away the fear a bit. As William Boyd said when he opened the ebook department of my local library, velcro didn't replace buttons.

Harry Hawkins (harryhhawkins3) | 6 comments Hello all! My name is Harry and I recently joined the group. I love to read fantasy and science fiction and a few years ago stared writing novels with characters that i created while i was in school. Originally i decided that i was going to tell the story in comic book format but during the research phase of that project I made two very important discoveries: i could write better than i could draw and that a comic book was a team effort. So far i have written two books in what i hope to become a saga. I have at least eight more in mind now, but we'll see how everything works out. I'm really excited to connect with other writers because i only know one other person who has writes, so this should be fun!
