Matt Williams (sketcity) | 4 comments Hi, I'm Matt. I'm an England born novelist. I write stuff. I read. I hope to start raising honest and correctly educated drug awareness for our youths, using literature and art. I am involved with a charity called 'The Sussex Bat Group' 15% of my royalties are donated to the charity in the name of a friend. The Sussex Bat Group was formed in 1984 to help conserve bats in East and West Sussex. The Group is a registered charity made up of volunteers who share a passion for bats. We are affiliated with the Bat Conservation Trust.

I have released my first novel; a dystopian, suspense, adventure story. And have another two more on the way.
I am here to meet readers and authors, talk about books and make friends.

Thanks,

Matt

Jim | 5 comments Hello to all! Well, let's see...I've been a working screenwriter here in Los Angeles for 20+ years. A couple years ago I realized I was getting burned out on the whole screenwriting/Hollywood thing. So I decided I'd write a novel. I'm happy to say that I published that novel one month ago. Reviews have been quite good and the darn thing is actually selling. I'll tell ya, I'm quite thrilled to have found yet another outlet for my creative writing. Will I go back to screenwriting? Sure, but only for PAID assignments (so no more spec scripts for me). Other than that, it's novels all the way. Love it! Anyway, I look forward to meeting some of you fine Goodreads members and checking out YOUR writing as well as book reviews. See ya around! Luigi's Chinese Delicatessen

David Taylor | 1 comments Good day, everybody,
To add to the melee, my name is David Taylor, and the first book in my science fiction trilogy, A Tale of Four Planets, has just been released by Virtual Bookworm. Sessions with the Seer (A Tale of Four Planets Book 1) by David Taylor
A Puerto Rican family in north Philadelphia has their dreams unravel. Sixty years later, a starship crew responds to an extraterrestrial distress call. The seer will search for how they are all bound together by a mysterious pendant.
One of you has a hatching dragon egg, another has a riddle...and I've got the mysterious pendant, maybe lord of the pendants? Or the pirates of pendants?
I know if a certain soap opera actor from "Jane the Virgin" were operating this forum, he would say it is an honor for me to post here, but it really is an honor for me to communicate with fellow writers struggling for attention for their efforts. Having reviewed so many independent CD releases as staff writer for the music magazine, Progression, I especially appreciate any and all who take the time to read and review other people's books.
One more comment for now about my trilogy: I would like to believe if Isabel Allende and Arthur C. Clarke collaborated to re-imagine Star Wars under the guidance of Ghandhi and Charles Dickens, with Groucho Marx occasionally crashing the joint, A Tale of Four Planets would land somewhere in that ballpark.
best wishes to everyone, David Taylor (not the David Taylor with all the animal books, or any of the other David Taylor authors, just the David Taylor with this book plus an earlier one, Contact With Gaia)

Allison Hello Everyone,

I live in Southern California where I spend my days working on my urban, medieval, fantasy series. Book one, Soothsayer will be launched next month and I couldn't be more excited.

Unlike many authors, I didn't know that writing was my calling until I was much older. It wasn't until I started reading Sherlock Holmes that I started to get excited about reading. Then the Harry Potter series made it across The Pond to America and I've been reading ever since.

When I'm not reading and writing, I love to travel! For me, life isn't complete unless I'm traveling the world and experiencing new and exciting places. I've been around Europe a bit and Hawaii is where I wrote a good chunk of Soothsayer.

So how did Soothsayer come to be, you might be wondering? Violet was a character in my head for many years but I never knew what to do with her. Then one day, I was reading a few author blogs and listening to podcasts and I decided to just start writing everything that came to mind. I had a yellow note pad and as I started to fill out Violet's character. I remember driving home with the note pad on the passenger seat of my car and jotting down notes at every red light. Finally a story was starting to form for Violet and I couldn't get the words out fast enough.

If you'd like to get a sneak peak of Soothsayer, you can check out the Prologue here: http://www.allisonsipe.com/#!prologue...

I look forward to connecting with other members of the group and discussing our books! It's hard talking about the writing process to non-writers. They don't understand what it's like to have other people in your head telling you a story!

Have a fantastic day,
Allison Sipe

Augustine Sam (augustinesam) Hi everyone, I am Augustine Sam, a journalist by profession, a novelist by choice, and a poet by chance. I am the author of Take Back the Memory, a contemporary women's fiction, awarded a 5-star seal by Readers' Favorite. And Flashes of Emotion, a book of romantic and thought-provoking poems, recommended by the Kindle Book Review. My next book, a mystery/thriller, is billed for release in late spring or early summer. Yes, you guessed right, I write across genre. (well, just three genres to be fair - contemporary, thriller, and poetry).

W.G. White (w_g_white) | 5 comments Howdy folks, I'm W. G. White (or Will, when not being pretentious) and I'm one of those lazy author types.

I've managed to somehow throw three novels together, and self-published a selection of short stories by sheer chance. I can't boast any awards or fancy statistics, none of that jazz - not yet. What I do have is an intense passion for writing, and stories in general. It's my sincere hope to reach people with my writing. It's a goal I'm working towards daily.

Here's a website thing: http://w-g-white.com/

Itsknighttyme | 2 comments Hello all, I'm Timm Knight, I figure it's easier to just post my author bio here. Timm Knight was born in one of the most creative hubs in America Detroit, Michigan. Almost immediately, he fell in love with the arts. He started out playing piano by ear, then followed up with learning to play the violin in elementary school. His love for creativity naturally drove him to writing and producing songs of his own. During high school, he followed an entrepreneurial path formulating an entertainment company producing talent showcases, seminars and composing original music for singers, rappers and poets. Continuing his creative journey he now adds the title of an author on his list of achievements. Admittedly he never set out to write a fictional book; he was more interested in nonfiction. However, after a conversation with his pastor who asked him if he ever thought about writing a book. He sat down on his laptop and asked himself “Well, what would I write about? “ A year and three months later he debuts the first installment of a three-part series entitled “Gods Will But My Choice”.

Third person is o much fun! But I do have a book on here "Gods Will BUT My Choice" which is available. enjoy!

Kaiylah Muhammad (kaiylahm) | 5 comments Out of the Cage Out of the Cage by Kaiylah Muhammad Many people's minds live in cages. People are limited to what they will accept and are stuck in their way of thinking. Seeing what I've seen and overcoming all that I've overcome has allowed me to be more open minded and look at life from different angles. To be "Out of the Cage" means to think freely and openly without being restricted by the status quo. This book contains thirty memoirs about the different demons we have within ourselves and how to deal with them.

In this book, I open up about being molested and how it affected my adulthood. I open about how my fears, my pride, my ego, my control issues, and overthinking have held me back from being the woman God designed me to be. I speak on the importance of forgiveness, empathy, and trusting God. I talk about how making mistakes is a necessity for growth. I also talk about the issues with social media, and how it gives people of false sense of themselves. The book is only 10,000 words; It's an eBook only. But I took it upon myself to make an audio version of it with my studio equipment in my apartment. If you purchase the eBook I will email you the audio version for FREE. Here's a list of some of the memoirs.

Mind over matter
Egos in love
You are who you are for a reason
Metamorphosis
Happiness is not one size fits all
Fear keeps oppression alive
Conformity
Fear and Pride paralyzes
Who are you to judge?

The book is $3.50 on Lulu and $2.99 on all other sites. Most sites will let you read the first few memoirs for free.

Steve Introduction...I'm not a writer (not published...or very committed) but I do read. A lot. I'm mostly interested in literature and don't read too much beyond that (see my profile if you care to know more). I enjoy reading and writing about what I read, as you will see from my reviews. I enjoy stimulating talk about great books as well, so there's that.

Beyond that, I teach special education to primary aged kids and love my day job, so my writing is limited to long-winded e-mails, reviews of various things, and introductions on websites and discussion groups.

Hello to all and thanks for the opportunity to interact and be exposed to new authors.

Steve

Martin Marais | 5 comments Hi all, I have self-published my debut novel, The Battle of Paardeberg: Lord Roberts' Gambit which is about a battle in the Boer War (19899-1902). I was inspired to write it after reading The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara. I would recommend Shaara's book to anyone interested in the American civil war, but even if you are not it is a great read about the doubts and fears of the officers and men taking part in a major battle.

I'm a new SF author on the block. My first book is just out and getting interesting feedback - I have a grimdark space opera with a dose of spacemance in it. So, it's not derivative...

I hope to have a second book out in the summer, a SF based in Belfast, and am just trying to enjoy the ride.

Jack Knapp It's been some time since I responded to this thread, and there have been changes since I did.
I have eight publications available on Amazon, with a ninth due to be published later this month. One week? Two? Veil of Time is written, but publication depends on how long it takes me to finish the edits. I have a cover ready (thanks, Mia Darien!), so it's only a matter of time.
Veil is the fourth in the Wizards Series. You can find more information on my Amazon Author's page at http://www.amazon.com/Jack-L-Knapp/e/...
I frequently comment on the Best Bang for the Buck Book Promo thread here on Goodreads. I also blog, essays dealing with nonfiction at http://jlknapp505.com, and essays about writing and fiction at http://jacklknapp.com. Stop by; you might find something you like!
