Hello everyone;
I am new to this group, my passion is writing and illustrating Children's Books. My books are listed on Amazon. Here is a link to my first book "Sam and the Fly." My boxer, Sam, inspired me to starting writing and gave me a story line to begin with.

Hi everyone!
My name is Missy and I absolutely love to read books. I'm not picky when it comes to reading; I will read just about any genre. However, my absolute favorite genres to read are young adult/new adult, romance, fantasy, paranormal, and science fiction.

Welcome to the group, Sheryl, and Missy!

Sheryl: I write for children too. My books are on Smashwords, B&N, Kobo, iBooks, and a few others, and if you want to check out a sample of my writing at no cost, then you can grab a free copy of "Frank The Friendly Ogre" from any of the retailers who stock it.

John Bernett (jpbernett) | 2 comments Hello all, I am John Paul Bernett and I am finally getting to introduce myself. I have been a member of this group for a week or so but have been rather busy preparing for a book launch next month but that is done now so here we go.

My system of writing is quite simple I dream, I write. The story I work on most is about an accountant named Atkinson. Snore you might think but this particular accountant deals in the commodity called life; or in this case Death. He is in fact no other than The Grim Reaper. Mr Atkinson has been a recurring nightmare of mine since early childhood and the series of books is based on the contents of those once terrifying dreams. I say once because now I don't see Mr Atkinson as a terrifying spectre any more I see him as a business partner.
I am like most other writers in many ways I party when I get a good review, I swear I will never write another word when I get a bad one, or is that just me :) Where I differ from most writers is I need my wife to check my work because through to many reasons to go through here I can't read. Did I just here lots of people clicking on to the next writer? It's ok for the three of you still reading I'm used to that. The thing is I suffer horribly from what I now know to be dyslexia, and unfortunately it isn't just about not being able to spell believe me I wish it was.
I go into all that on my different profiles so I won't bore you with it here. I'm a friendly guy and love to chat with people. Come over and take a look at my page I have eight books there to look at and I use Goodreads for my blog.
It is good to meet you all :)

Be Happy

JP

Lenita Sheridan | 1010 comments Welcome John! Many of us have disabilities to overcome. Wow! Eight books, that's quite an accomplishment.

message 10062: by John (new)

John Bernett (jpbernett) | 2 comments Thank you Lenita, I am a positive person and my belief is that disabilities can make a person strive that bit harder to succeed. My own disability keeps my books original to my imagination as I can't do the writers courses and the such like. So I class it as a friend rather than a foe.

E.M. McDowell | 8 comments Hi all! I'm Erin McDowell, and I'll keep this short and sweet. I love to read anything SciFi and Fantasy, and I write the same, along with a dabbling in the Horror genre. I have books published, and I would love for you to read them, but I'm here to have conversations, not hawk pages. If you want to know more about me or my characters, feel free to ask or stop by my website. I look forward to hopefully making some literary friends around here!

Hi everyone! My name is Lori and I have a marketing and promotions company called IndiGo Marketing & Design. I've started a topic here in the group, not to do a hard sell of our services, but to share with the authors in the group some of the great marketing articles and tips I've come across. IndiGo truly is, a labor of love and not something I do to support myself. I have an evil day job for that :)

So, whether you ever need our services or not, I hope you'll take a look now and then at what I post just is case it's something you might find helpful.

You can find my topic HERE.

B.K. Raine (BKRaine) | 5 comments My (pen) name is B.K. Raine. I am a quick reader. When I was in college I picked books up from Goodwill (by the dozen for a quarter a piece) and read at least one a night. I was not too picky then about what I read, but tended to favor bodice rippers, vampire and shape shifter series, and epic fantasy. Now my favorite authors are Laurell K. Hamilton, Patricia Briggs, Faith Hunter and Annabel Joseph. My debut novel, BLOOD TOY, will be coming out this summer (June TBD). I have been writing for over two decades. My first editor--and mentor--worked with Piers Anthony on his Xanth series. I am not sure why I waited so long to publish! Read more here: https://bkraine.wordpress.com/letter-...

A few years ago my family had to deal with a family member who ended up seizing due to a brain tumor. He ended up in ICU, unresponsive. The hospital kept him in a drug induced coma after his surgery. They wanted his brain to heal properly. He too,had to relearn how to dress, walk and even bathe himself. He will always be dealing with his traumatic brain injury. I am grateful that I was there for my sister, in her time of need. In the current book, I am working on, I write about this as I have dedicated the book to both my sisters. The title is called sisterhood. Not sure when I will be finished writing it. Thank you for sharing Rodney.

Jan Stites (janstites) | 8 comments Hi all,
Like many folks in this group, I'm a reader and author hoping to expand my cyber community. I self-published my first novel, Edgewise, which Wally Lamb called "courageous, heartfelt and unforgettable." It's sold over 6,000 copies, which feels like something of a miracle, far beyond my understanding. Sold my new book, Reading the Sweet Oak, which is being published in April. Very different books, the first darker & the second lighter. I'll be happy to comment on topics when I feel I have anything to contribute. Looking forward to becoming an active group member.

Shaniel Watson (authorshanielwatson) | 3 comments Hi everyone! My name is Shaniel Watson and I'm fairly new to the group. I recently self published my first contemporary/NA novel named Imperfections. I love to read books especially romance, even better if it has a undercurrent of humor. But for the past few months I've been doing more writing, editing and review requests than reading, my fingers have been getting a lot of exercise. :-)

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 2898 comments Welcome to the group, Pamela, Brittney, and Shaniel!

Pamela: many of my books are fantasy, though aimed at middle grade or young children (depending on the book). They've been enjoyed by older readers though.

Jan Stites (janstites) | 8 comments Welcome all. What a lively, fascinating bunch of authors. So many stories. Pamela, I love the image of living in a 1616 baguinage with the cottages for women 45 and above. Sounds ideal for writing. Is it?
Good luck all with both current and future novels.

Susan Berg | 2 comments Hello, all! I am Susan Berg from Australia and I have just joined the group. I wrote my memoir which was released four months ago as a way of healing myself from my past. My memoir is titled "The Girl Who Lived" and the back cover reads as follows:

The Girl Who Lived is the remarkable true story of a teenage girl's fight to find happiness.

As the sole survivor of a boating accident that claimed the lives of her parents and brother, Susan struggled to find any positive meaning in life.

Losing her sense of self-worth, Susan turned to sex and drugs before embarking on the unexpected journey of teenage motherhood.

Unwilling to remain a victim of tragedy, Susan learned to face her fears, accept herself and the loss of her family, which resulted in new found freedom and a thirsty passion for life.

Written in a brutally honest manner, The Girl Who Lived is a compelling memoir from a brave and courageous woman who invites you to journey with her as she recounts her experiences as a teenager, a young mother and as a woman.

Reviews can be viewed at:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
http://www.amazon.com/Girl-Lived-Susa...
http://www.susanberg.com.au/

Writing my memoir has been an incredibly cathartic experience and I hope that other authors in this group have felt the same about their own writing. We all deserve to live a happy life filled with love and inner peace. xx
