Alex Carey (AlexECarey) | 17 comments Hi All,

I am pleased to be a member of the group. I joined awhile back and have been lurking a bit. I stayed busy finishing writing my last book, so now hopefully I'll be able to participate more.

My name is Alex E. Carey, turning 23 this month. I'm originally from Texas but now living in North Carolina. I miss Texas but love where I live now.

I enjoy reading, writing, making jewelry, video games and being outdoors. I studied dance for twelve years and still love it. I majored in English at UNCG.

My favorite genre is fantasy. Some of my favorite contemporary authors include Stephenie Meyer, J. K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, Jim Butcher, Kim Harrison, Dan Brown and Steve Berry. Some of my all-time favorites are Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Emily Dickinson and Edgar Allan Poe. I have many more favorites, too many to name the all.

I am the author of the Elemental Series. The first book, Fire's Love, was released in 2013. The second, Earth's Embrace, was released in Dec 2014. And the third should be released later this year.

I look forward to discussing interesting reads, answering questions and hearing more from all of you.

Kind regards,

Alex

Tracy | 8 comments Hi,

My name is Tracy M. Joyce. I'm an author of fantasy based in Melbourne, Australia. My first book was published last year (I've posted about that in the fantasy thread.) I'm also, like many authors, an avid reader. Fantasy is my favourite genre, but I do read widely outside of this genre.

I'm really looking forward to this group, discovering new books to read and having interesting discussions.

Cheers,

Tracy

Hi Val,
Welcome! I'm new here too. I write epic fantasy. Love reading fantasy and some science fiction. (I like CJ Cherryh's work) I also read many classics and a bit of "literary fiction" as I tutor students in English and must read the books on their course list. (Some of which are great and some of which are depressing tomes.)
Cheers,

Tracy

Valerie (valerie_shaver) | 3 comments Hi JS! I'm a huge fan of modern/abstract art or surrealism (anything Dali is my favorite). As for editing, I've been proofing and making suggestions for books my friends have written. The subjects have been various, anything from self help to erotica.

Hi Tracy! English was my favorite subject in school and I was the weird kid who loved the classics in AP Lit. Give me anything by the Brontes or Austen and I was a happy girl :-)

Alex Bugaeff | 50 comments Well, it appears that I never introduced myself before commenting, so here goes: I'm Alex Bugaeff and I'm the author of two books on early American history.

The first is Pilgrims To Patriots, A Grandfather Tells The Story. The second, which just came out, is American Amazons: Colonial Women Who Changed History. They are for middle grade readers and for parents and grandparents who want to read for themselves and/or to the children. I have posted them to the appropriate lists below.
I have also posted an item on the Bulletin Board asking for opinions on the genre for these books. It's too long a setup for here, so I've described it there, if you don't mind.

I'm enjoying the threads and the discussions here and look forward to a long and fulfilling relationship with all y'all (if you don't mind my breaking into "Suthen"). Thanks for having me.

Marsha Ramnanan | 18 comments Hi all! I'm Marsha and so excited to join this group!
I live in the Caribbean (and no it's not all sipping colourful drinks on a beach...though I wish it was...)

I read voraciously - anything I can get my hands on really. My friends have always thought it was weird that I'd rather read than watch TV (or anything else for that matter).

From reading to writing feels natural to me and I've been writing for years.

It was only after I had my daughter, though, that I felt a need to be published. I think it was that I wanted to leave her something tangible...something she could say her mom created. Hence, Love and Magick.

After I got such a thrill from seeing my name on that title I had to go back for more....

Catrina Courtenay (catrinacourtenay) | 8 comments Hello all. I'm new to the group and it just so happens that I published my first novel a few days ago. It's a Romantic suspense, titled Ultimate Betrayal: Revelations.

I'm an avid reader of Romance/erotica/thrillers and I love history of all kinds, especially Royal History. When I'm not writing, I'm working on my genealogy and taking care of my son and husband.

My book can be found on Amazon, B&N, Smashwords and Google.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UOEWXHK
It didn't matter that Veronica Harper spent years in the military and then was trained by the best of the best at the FBI. It didn't matter that she was skilled in hand-to-hand combat or that she was one of the most sought after bodyguards in the industry. When Kincaid got a hold of her, he stripped away everything she thought she was and left her broken and terrified. That was five years ago.

Now, she is being forced back to LA in order to protect Hollywood's most sought after bad boy, Erik Sinclair. He's sexy, protective, and unrelenting in his pursuit of her, but he doesn't know about the demons that haunt her past. When past and present collide, will Ronnie be able to face the darkness that haunts her and save the only man capable of fixing her?

I would appreciate any advice on marketing - I'm at a loss on what to do now that it's out there!

thx
Catrina

Thank you Lenita! I love romance novels but they tend to be a little 'light' on plot! Mine has more of the thriller element to it. And - my heroine is a bit older than what you find in the 50 Shades type romance novel.
