Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hello, I'm not a writer, just a reader who wants to get to know more about the amazing writers that go unnoticed in my little world.I went back to school to finish off my MLS degree and am working on a research project...I have to admit, I had more fun making up stories in writing classes. I'm an atheist and want to know everything about everything. Life is short, which has been a reason for my curiosity towards transhumanism. Anyways, most importantly, I'm here in search for beautiful minds :)
Hi Lisa,Good to have another reader here. What sort of stories did you make up in writing class? Just curious. I wrote research papers, then science ed books for youngsters, then science fantasy...an evolution of sorts. Hope you find the books you're looking for; I've "met" some interesting Goodreads authors.
Wishing everyone Happy Holidays!
Hi, I'm Mia. I enjoy writing and reading books. I like a lot of types of books from fantasy, paranormal, and sci-fi to romance, self-help, and instructional books. I just wrote my first novel, Tea Leaf: What Hides Beneath, which is an urban fantasy. I look forward to meeting people and learning more through this group!

Hi, everyone! My name is Rebekkah. I'm an author of a YA paranormal/fantasy trilogy called Beyond the Eyes. I also just released--well, a couple months ago--an urban fantasy book called Tangled Roots. It's a companion to the trilogy; however, it can be a standalone book. I was brought up in an odd family. When my parents were married, they were the directors of the UFO Investigator's League. They also took on paranormal cases. I think because of the way I grew up is the reason why I love to write in the paranormal/fantasy genre.
During the week, I manage a mom and pop propane company in rural North Dakota, and right now, I'm working on another book called Ameerah. I'm really excited about it.
Anyway, I have an irreverent sense of humor, dirty mind and at times a foul-mouth. I love coffee, good food, books, antiques, my fans, and my street team. I love other things too, but I don't want to turn this into a long list of all the things Rebekkah loves. LOL.
Nice to meet y'all. I look forward to connecting with you. :)
Hi there. I'm new. I'm an accounting professor who has written lots of articles but nothing the general public would find interesting (i.e. all academic stuff). Therefore, I'm really a reader, not a writer, here. I love love love to read and read many different sorts of books. I try to take time to write thoughtful reviews. My goal for 2014 was to read 100 books. In 2015 I plan to read only books written by female authors.

Hi everyone. I'm Elizabeth. I write M.G. adventure/scifi/fantasy books. My first one has just come out on Kindle, so I'm really excited about that. I'm from the southern U.S., but I just moved up to South Dakota a few months ago. Let me just say that it's really, really cold up here.
Hi Elizabeth! I have relatives in North Dakota and winter IS really, really cold. At least the people are warm!

Hi Nhi,
Almost no book is good when it is first written. Books improve with re-writing. It also helps to have feedback from other readers and writers. And you should feel very proud that you are writing a book!

I live in North Dakota, and It's c-c-c-cold here right now. :) I'm originally from Phx. AZ. but I have to be honest, I rather be cold than hot. :)Welcome everyone! Nice to meet you.

Hello everyone. I'm an avid reader of words and creator of random thoughts which become stories. Thanks to my parents and grandparents I love sharing tales of life. My grandmother shared the stories of my heritage with me at an early age. What a blessing as I've become the family talking historian, slowly transitioning those words to written words.
I was raised around the world and travelled to a far off land where I met and married my wife. We have raised five children and are experiencing their blessing to us by their own children.
We've been blessed. Life is an adventure...share it.
My name is Pamela Daniell I'm a published author who just released her first novel 'Revelations'. I live on Long Island and love to read and write. I am currently working in 'Defiance' book two in the 'Revelations' series.
Hi, I am not sure if my comment ever connected. My name is Joanna. I write as Janna Morrow. I wish I could say I write professionally, but I actually teach for a living. My teen romance is "Dreams May Come". I would love a review!! I love the story, but so far no fish are biting!!DREAMS MAY COME
Hey everyone! My name is Nancy Corrigan. I'm an author, chemist, mother of three, and wife who drinks too much coffee and loves all things spooky and sexy :-)
I'll stick my "official" bio at the end, but simply put, I write contemporary and paranormal romance that's on the sexy to steamy side.
My series:
Sander's Valley is my small town romance series; latest release
The Wild Hunt series is based off the Wild Hunt myth; latest release
The Elemental Desire series is based off Norse mythology; latest release
And my current shifter series is Royal Pride; latest release
And I'll be adding lots more in 2015, but I'd love to know what genre of books you're LOVING right now.
Okay, now the official bio...
A true romantic at heart, Nancy Corrigan is convinced there’s a knight in shining armor for every woman (or man), but you won’t find damsels in distress in her stories. She adores pairing alpha heroes with women strong enough to match them and bring them to their knees. She also enjoys flipping the traditional roles in romances because her motto is—love and people should never be forced to conform to anyone’s norm.
She holds a degree in chemistry and has worked in research but now focuses on ensuring quality. She considers it the perfect outlet for her as she’s the first to admit she has some OCD tendencies. It carries over into her writing life too. While engrossed in a novel, she has a habit of forgetting to eat and sleep. Fortunately, she’s married to her own knight in shining armor who understands her oddities and loves her anyway. They reside in Pennsylvania with their three children, dog, snake and guinea pigs. Her other interests include tattoos, animals, classic cars and all things spooky and sexy.

I originally joined because I was curious as to why a book I self published iUniverse in 2004 with hardly a whisper began selling in 2012 and continued selling in 2013. When I accessed Amazon, I was surprised to find my book, The Unnamed Sword, had reviews by Goodreads readers dated 2012 and 2013. I had no idea what Goodreads was so I joined last year to find out. The Unnamed Sword by the way is currently having a last go through by Jaqui k of White Diamond in England. Unnamed Sword should be out by the first of February.
Because I write sci fi, I have a great interest in technology and where it's heading. A great example is the laser cannon. Two went operational on a US frigate last week. Each laser cannon has a minimum range in rain, snow and fog of six miles and a maximum range in Space of thousands of miles. It can fire millions of times a minute, targeting missiles and the bullets of larger cannon. And, since each charge travels at the speed of light, it hits what it sees. On a clear day, the two cannon make the frigate essentially invulnerable to all above the water attacks.
What this means for sci fi writers is that the blaster has arrived, and it's far more formidable than anyone imagined. As long as it has the power (it is a power hog), a gunner manning such a cannon would be essentially untouchable to guns of all kinds while wreaking incredible damage. Any shooter video game becomes obsolete without the blaster and unplayable with it. As for Jennifer Lawrence, she could raise her laser blaster after reducing the government to rubble, symbolically blow across the muzzle and look around, smiling. "OK. Who's next?
