Hello Abbie, Jill, John, Gloria, Heather, Anthony, Maggie, and Jana.Jack, Goodreads is alive and well in Oz. And yes, you should set part of your story in Australia. It has so many fantastic locations to write about.

Hi all, I'm an Aussie author and my historical saga Or Forever Be Damned was released by Australia's Silky Oak Press in late 2014 in eBook, then had its paperback edition launched this week. I'm grateful to have been blessed with glowing reader reviews. Below is a brief synopsis and link:Mona — a poor but respectable Protestant teenaged factory girl, is tormented by sibling rivalry over her favoured artistic younger brother, Ambrose. Untrained and against parental orders, stagestruck Mona resolves to outshine Ambrose, furtively pursuing a theatrical career. Into her journey, Mona unearths her younger bête noire, Kat — a Catholic rough-diamond child-veteran entertainer who, conversely, yearns to escape theatre life.
So begins their lifelong enmity.
Or Forever Be Damned is an historical saga spanning eight decades, following the lives and families of two very different women who escape the slums of northern England’s ‘Cottonopolis’, Salford, in the 1930′s Slump — a simmering irrational enmity that lives on in modern day Australia.

*Profuse Waving*I am a neophyte author and an elderly reader. I have spent most of my life being a doctor and have yet to retire from doing intensive care with newborns (best patients in the world: don't drink, don't smoke, all want to get better).
I started writing for amusement a few years ago and started my soon to be released novel, "Outland Exile" in 2013; I am working on "Exile's Escape" now with 50K into so far.
I am a Christian but not a Christian writer in the sense most people use of late, but I hope Jack Lewis would recognise.

Greetings!I'm thrilled to have found this group! My name is Murray Williams and I'm a financial author. I've written a new book entitled, The Bookmaker of Business: A Financial Tale, and is a different take on the personal finance genre. It teaches timeless lessons about finance that reads like historical fiction.
Bankers are the bookies of our economy.
Back in the year 1932, against the backdrop of the Great Depression, an unlikely conversation occurred between a banker and a common laborer. The banker revealed the wealth secret of the ages and why the rich get richer while the poor get poorer. An informative parable filled with investing, debt, and banking wisdom.

Hello! I'm glad to have found this group and look forward to learning and participating. I joined Goodreads awhile ago but am only recently getting very active. Ashamed to say it but might as well start off with the truth and admit it.I am an indie author of two sci fi/fantasy novels for adults, a fantasy novel for children, and a semi-autobiographical novel. They're all here on Goodreads. I'm looking forward to learning more from others about the indie world where I've chosen to stake my claim, and also to get tips on other indie authors that I should check out. Although I am not at all opposed to traditional publishing at all, and possibly plan to submit some work to an agent in the future, my primary commitment is to self-publishing. My wife and I have established our own publishing company, Detroit Ink Publishing, which publishes the works of others as well as our own.

Beloved is amazing. Good luck!

Do a Goodreads paperback book giveaway, perhaps 5 books, and mail them in #2 envelopes. Join groups before the giveaway and list it in the promotions section, with a link (that you make) to your giveaway.
Add other authors' books to your read list. Review them. There are marvelous people here! Some may reciprocate.
Good luck!

Now I understand that it just takes lots of time: to learn more, write more, edit more. So, some day you may write a full novel of your own. I hope so! And readers are priceless!
My book is The Dragon Dreamer, a young adult science fantasy with flying dragons, an undersea world, and an unexpected friendship.
