James Alice Edwards | 3 comments Hello, my name is James. I am an English person now retired from work. I love to read and have done all my life.

My main passions are historical fiction, Greek/Roman period stories and Science Fiction. Science Fiction is my first love, mainly hrad Science Fiction with the emphasis on Science. However I also adore Terry Pratchett and have all of his books - he can make me laugh out loud, a precious gift. Out side of my comfort zone I enjoy a variety of genre as the mood takes me, hey I have lots of free time if not lots of life left!

I mainly read on my Kindle these days as I travel a fair bit and books can become a burden to pack and carry but I still love the feel of a "real" book.

If any one would like to chat about Science Fiction or anything else - let me knw as I am always oepn to new friendships..

Be well and happy.

James

V.M. Sang (aspholessaria) | 230 comments Hi, James. I too enjoy Science Fiction, but haven't read much of it recently, having been concentrating more on fantasy and the classics. (I decided I'd not read enough of them!) I am also the author of a couple of fantasy novels. I too am English and retired. Nice to meet you.

It's releasing December 12th, and is published by O Books (an imprint of John Hunt Publishing). I've also written 5 other books which have been published by Amma's ashram in India and are sold on Amma's world tours, translated into 4 languages.

Here's the Goodreads page for "Rising in Love":

And here's a work in progress, a new website I'm designing to promote "Rising in Love", which also has a nice page about my other books and lots of other good stuff: http://www.rising-inlove.org

Very happy to connect with all of you! I'll be so happy to befriend you here and on other social media, and to correspond.

Jack Knapp I can't remember introducing myself before; perhaps I did, but with 9000 entries, a re-introduction isn't out of place.
I'm Jack L Knapp, lifelong reader, recent novelist. I'm retired (twice, actually) and my new career is writing. I have 5 novels (three in the Wizards Trilogy, two in the Darwin's World series), plus a novella (Hands, a comedy written in Elizabethan/Shakespearean style English) and a short story, Ants, 'scifi' since it's set in the future, all on Amazon. If you have KU, they're all free, which may be best of all! :D
I also do Facebook (look me up!) commentaries, frequently long enough to be mini-essays, blog (http://jacklknapp.com and http://jlknapp505.com), and occasionally comment on Goodreads too!
Reading interests, biographies, military memoirs and fiction, science fiction, fantasy occasionally, and whatever else catches my interest.

Jack Knapp Hiya, Beau!
Australian, I see; my sales in Australia are better this month than in the US!
I've also had a request to add a book to my 'completed' trilogy and set it in Australia. I think I probably will do that and set at least PART of it in Oz-land. Sigh. I'll have to go back and change the series from 'trilogy' to 'series' on all the titles and covers, though. :D
Got several Facebook friends from there too.
It's good to see that Goodreads is international!

Couple of things: I have friends from an international group that I interact with. I suspect some of them bought books. I also posted draft versions on a free site that has an international readership, Beyond the Far Horizon. The fellow who wants to show me around Australia if I come to visit, and act as an unpaid consultant, read my books there. I've got Facebook friends from Australia too; I make it a point to invite people from all over if I like their writing style. It all helps. One of those I've interacted on Facebook with bought my books, told her daughter, who ALSO bought books; those are my French sales.
I don't do Pinterest or Tweet, but if you have followers from there, that helps too. And then there are my blogs.
I think the absolute, no question about it, best sales technique is to write good books and write a LOT of books. For example, I have 7 published, 5 novels, a novella, and a short story. All of them sold at least one copy in the US (Hands, the novella; it's a comedy written in Elizabethan/Shakespearean English, no surprise). Of the rest, almost all of the sales have come from my completed trilogy.
Of my 20 Australian sales, only 1 came from the other series, 19 from the Wizards series. But because the royalties are double what Amazon pays for US sales, I'm getting more money for fewer sales.
BTW, when you publish through Amazon, DON'T take the foreign 35% rate. Amazon offers that, but go for the 70%. I probably lost a couple of hundred dollars before I figured things out.

John Rachel (johndrachel) | 170 comments Me? John Rachel, author of eight novels, six of which were #1 bestsellers on the third moon of Neptune ...

http://jdrachel.com/books/

Here is my most recent (coming November 9th!) ...

Poor Billy Green! When he was just turning four, his father tried to throw him in the trash. He was a smart kid but that just seemed to create enemies. His mom did everything to protect him. But this was Detroit, armpit of the wasteland! Catholic school didn’t help much, except the time he got his first kiss from an atheist nun. Home life was dismal. Was his father capable of anything but drinking beer and farting? And what was with that neighbor who made puppets and tried to molest Billy? Golly! Detroit was sucking the life out of him. At such a young age. Then adolescence swirled around him. Like water in a toilet bowl. High school was a B movie. Only without a plot. So finally he did something about it. Billy ran away … to college. Cornell University. That was a good move for sure! He studied hard, lost his virginity, met the love of his life. Things were definitely looking up! What could possibly go wrong?

Pre-order this groundbreaking epic literary fail. ONLY 99 CENTS!

Hi Ram! Your site is beautiful! I clicked around several links on your site and all of them worked. My only suggestion is that you might want to change the font color to a darker one on the review sections "What People are saying about Rising In Love" etc. The colors seem to blur together which might make it difficult for visitors to read the reviews. Other than that, I think you did a great job!
