Goodreads Authors/Readers discussion
Introduce Yourself!
Hi everybody, my name is Judy and I'm glad I found this group! I just published my first book of poetry and short fiction, and am currently working on a time-travel novel. I write freelance home and garden articles for a living, but my first love is creative writing. I do love to read, too!

Hi there!
My name is Mark Murphy and I am an author from Liverpool, UK. I have recently had my first book published, its called 'Minology - The Curious Sectret Of Central Head' and its a young adult fantasy novel available from Netherworld Books. I am very new to Goodreads and I'm trying to get to know how it all works still! I've also just finished writing my second novel which is another book in the Minology series. I love reading fantasy novels, anything set in a different world is fine by me. I also love ghost stories too! I'm currently reading a book called 'Tales From The DEad of Night' which is a collection of 13 short ghost stories written by 13 different authors.

Welcome, Mark. I'm an old git from California with my first book out, as well. I enjoy some YA, mostly the Coming of Age story, and share with you a love of different worlds; I get enough of this one just living in it! Let me read about something else, at least. I'm sure you'll have a great time here. Best of luck with your series.

Welcome to the group, Isabell, Cynthia, Charlene, Rebecca, Judy, Sheila, Mark, and anyone else I haven't said it to!

Hello, Christian, and welcome. You're worrying about the wrong thing. Assertive characters are simply a sign that you've planned well, and you know them better than you know your real life friends. Ever read books where the characters do unexpected things that defy all logic? That's a sure sign that the author is winging it, and has no more idea who that character is than one of the homeless guys behind the Dollar Store. Congratulations on your thoroughly drawn, well understood characters, the first step in great fiction.

Welcome, Andrew. Sounds like you're heavily into the giving mode; great things are bound to come your way!
Hello! I'm Blair MacGregor, reader and writer. In fiction, I write mostly fantasy -- dark, epic, adventurous -- and have an urban fantasy series in the works as well.I currently live in rural Indiana with my son and our goofy dogs, run a martial arts school, and teach seminars on wellness and classroom management. When I have spare time, I assume I must have forgotten to do something.

Hello!I'm Christ Lewis, the writer of non-fiction, self-help books.
I lives in Michigan, USA. I loves reading books about personal improvement and any self-help books. I always try to level up myself and improve myself to be better in any things all the time.
I am a writer. My inspiration is to write what I have learnt or experienced in the past. I would love to continue my intention and spread my knowledge to my family, friends, goodreads friends, and other readers all around the world.
Hi everyone, I am K.L. Hunter, I am an aspiring author.I recently wrote and self-published Crestbeach - Belle's Beginning, book one from the Crestbeach Novellas series, via Amazon KDP and I am now working on book two of the Crestbeach Novellas series.
I also enjoy reading and gaming, but as I have taken up writing, I don't have as much time for the latter.
Kind regards,
K.L. Hunter
I'm Lynne, and I'm an author. (I suddenly feel like I just attended Author's Anonymous.) I've been writing seriously for several years and finally realized that I have to market what I write. It's positively frightening to do so. I was brought up not to talk about my accomplishments, and my military career continued this trend - I took care of my people and made sure they got the recognition. So this is all a little new. But, I was and always will be a reader first, so I feel as though I fit in both categories.

Welcome, Lynne. You undoubted do fit in both categories. Many of us do, and it's good that you're reluctant to climb up on a soapbox and shout, "Look at me!" Those people are uber-annoying, and drive away far more people than they attract. Be patient, take small steps, and you'll be fine.

I've got some children's books free and half price at the moment if anyone is interested. Check out my thread on here for details (in the children's fiction section).
Hello all.I'm Lynn. Bear with me a little because I'm quite shy and I'm not used things like this. This is also the first group I've joined here so this is my first comment ever.
It still feels strange to call myself an author. I write and I'm into art. I've published 7 books over the last 18 months. Five of them are poetry books, one is a fiction novel and one is a short story related to the fiction novel. I'll be the first to admit that I am absolutely terrible at self-promotion and being active on social media so that is why I'm here.
Hello Christ, K.L., Lynne and Lynn. Please check your hats, coats and shyness at the cloakroom on the way in. Don't forget to get a ticket from the attendant.

I am very much a glass always full type of girlie, because for me life is just too short and it really is a question of really making the most of everything, good or bad.
I did actually post a bit about myself on the Author's list - probably too much Vincent - sorry - and some of it should obviously have gone here.
Author, blogger and cartoonist would be the overall description of me on my passport, if that could be fitted into that little space next to that funny thing which gets scanned (or not in my case!) when you go though Immigration (oops I meant Border Control!!) at Gatwick.
My first novel, The Great British Date Off is a funny romantic comedy where Maggie's love life, her two suitors, a disaster at the local chemist and a disappearing photo do not make for a quiet country life. Read it and you'll see what I mean.
My cartoon humour blog www.commytooper.com is, as you've probably gathered by now, not the place to go if you want to read all about detailed financial and political analysis of developing economies. It is though just the location for those of you who like sideswipes at life. The Dahling Do Tell ladies always have very specific opinions about what is going on in their friends' relationships. On the other side of the coin there are the Yer Avin A Larf lads who are doing their best - not always very successfully - to keep one step ahead of the law.
The blog allows me to create my musings, cartoons, puns and wordplay about life. Then there is the new humour book series 'The Trouble With...' which I am about to publish in paperback and kindle. First up is 'The Trouble With Relationships' followed by 'The Trouble With The Battle of The Sexes'.
Family illness has really restricted matters Goodreads for a long time but now I'm able to get going properly and cannot wait.
I have to say that my circle of friends and family does not contain many with a literal persuasion and so I'd be right royally chuffed to start making lots of friends on here. So, anyone who is looking to link up with a person who'd love to hear from you, especially if you've got a GSOH (sounds like a Dating site request!!), you've only got to say the word.
