Lenita, I would love to connect with you! You are a Christian who writes for children and live in the Seattle area as do I. I recently moved up here and am just beginning my search for other authors in my genre to connect with.

Lenita, cool website, and the book looks interesting, I'll have to check it out. I noticed you have an Australian book store linked there, is that because you are in Aus, or you just wanted to make sure us Aussies weren't left out?My website is www.adailyromance.com, check it out if you're into romance.
Hey everyon!I'm Shir Guez, an indie author.

Welcome, Brandon. This is a great place to share ideas and get that early nudge that will make this a lifestyle choice for your future.

Nice to see the newcomers here. I've been pretty quiet, so maybe a re-intro is needed. I'm Judy Griffith Gill, long-time published and still active author in both print and digital. If I can answer questions for anyone, I'll be happy to try. My website is at www.judyggill.com, and there's a link on it to my blog where I mostly gripe. :-)

My name is Shelby. I'm an occasional poet and prolific reader. I'll give just about any book a try, but my favorites are mystery, scifi and fantasy, and historical fiction. I LOVE quirky characters and fiction like Spencer Quinn's Chet and Bernie mysteries, Hithcock Sewell, Terry Pratchett, and Christopher Moore.
Hi Shelby,I'm a fantasy writer. I have written a book entitled Guardian of the Gauntlet. It can be found on my website, www.LenitaSheridan.com.
Hello! My name is Yashodhara Lal and I'm an author from New Delhi, India. By day, I'm a marketing professional, but have wanted to write for the longest time. I really enjoy reading Wodehouse, Bill Bryson, James Herriot and Gerald Durrel, but read pretty much everything - I've only recently started using the Kindle and am using it to devour all sorts of non-fiction books!
I've published my first two books with HarperCollins - both are humorous books - one on marriage, and the other, strangely enough about a guy getting divorced. I'm working on several book drafts right now and may end up ditching two altogether because I discovered I didn't like the main protagonists in my stories myself!
My first two books have got good feedback from Indian readers, and they're are available on Kindle too; and I'd love to hear your feedback at yashodhara.lal@gmail.com.

My name is John Gaver. Until recently, my writing has been primarily focused on political/economic non-fiction. I have also written on other subjects, but under pen names. But I'm branching back into science fiction, where I started many years ago.My non-fiction requires tons of research and since it's generally on the subject of economics, it also requires tons of analysis, phone calls and emails to recognized experts. Then after all that work, political and economic non-fiction is generally time sensitive, which means that as soon as the economy changes or the next election passes, it's probably out of date. What's wrong with this picture? I write to encourage positive changes in government and the economy and it if happens, my book is no longer significant? Bummer.
More than 40 years ago I had a few science fiction short stories published. Now, in my spare time, I'm working on a science fiction novel, which I intend to focus on, to completion, as soon as I finish my current non-fiction book. It's currently about 20% done (several of the first and last chapters are done), with the complete story line mapped out. All four of the people who have read the short story version of it have used superlatives to describe the ending and two compared it favorably with some of Arthur C. Clark's endings. I'm working hard to insure that I maintain that impact in the book version.
My books that are on sale at this time are "The Rich Don't Pay Tax! …Or Do They?" and "Cruise Secrets of Seasoned Cruisers" (written as Reginald Carpenter - ebook only). Just last week, I took "No Limits SEO" off sale, as the information in it is about to become dated. I have not yet settled on a title for my next book, which is a comparison of several tax reform proposals. I don't have a name for my science fiction book yet, either. But to paraphrase the last line in 2001: A Space Odyssey, "I'll think of something."
Thanks Vincent for the work you put into this discussion group. I am a author of three children's ebooks: The Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy Guide to Revenge, Will You Call My Name, Santa in a Shopping Cart. I also have published one adult mystery, Murder Under False Pretense. I use the services provided by Smashwords.com to publish. So far I've been very pleased with the results. However,it is a lonely way to write. That's why I am so happy to have discovered this discussion group. Now,writing will be fun as well as rewarding. I'm looking forward to reading about other authors' books and their take on self-publishing. Thanks again, Josephine H. PS: The readers in the group can get a copy of the mystery for free at their favorite ebook outlet. Check it out!
Hello! My name is Marita, and I am a 19 year old Canadian reviewer with an unquenchable thirst for amazing reads. I run a Youtube channel (for reviews), Facebook page, personal blog, as well as a social blog dedicated to authors and reviewing!
If you're an author who would like me to review your novel, I'm a quick reader! I prefer print copies (easier to read at work than pdf's.)
You can reach me at maritaforget@me.com or PM me on here
Thanks!
Look forward to all the good reads ahead!
Wow, a lot of overnight activity. Welcome, Shelby, Yashodhara, John, Josephine, and Marita. May your stays here be fruitful and exciting!
*Waving Howdy* I am glad I found this group. From what I've seen so far, it has several topics I can't wait to dive into. I will read anything I can get my hands on, even cereal boxes. :-) I love music even more than reading. Thankfully I multitask very well. lol
I write when I have something to say. Someday, I may self-pub something I've done but not any time soon.
Right now, my main focus in life is promoting my best friend's latest release. I promise not to be spamming his book anywhere. However, I make no bones about it, B.E. Wilson is my favorite author. :-) I could sing his book's praises all day long in private message if anyone is interested.
I have lots of reading on post here to get done so that's enough about me.
Huggles!
Robin wrote: "Someday, I may self-pub something I've done but not any time soon."Welcome Robin. All I can say is, "Don't put it off." Go ahead. Publish some of your work. You may get hooked on it and end up wishing that you had started earlier, because you have more to say that you have time to write. That's the boat I'm in. I submitted a few short stories that got published decades ago. But I was young and other things took precedence over writing, such as girls, surfing, girls, motorcycles, girls, hang gliding, girls, scuba diving, and oh yes, girls. Then, when I got married, my focus turned to my fabulous wife and then, to running a business, on top of that. It wasn't till I retired at 50 (OK… semi-retired), when I was looking for things to do, that I started writing again. Now I look at all the words that are crowded in my brain, clamoring to get out, and wonder how I'm going to say them all, while still spending a good portion of each day, adoring my wife and also going on the occasional vacation. Take it from someone who put it off for decades. Go ahead. Publish.
Just sayin'…
Thank you so much for the encouragement John! And I will take your advice (eventually, someday, lol). I'm not dragging my feet just higher priorities right now. I made B.E. the same promise, when his place is well established in the literary world, then I'll pub mine. I'm in no hurry. I really do appreciate the encouragement though. I have cd's filled with stuff from over the years.

I couldn't agree more! I waited until late in life as well, and am now haunted by the knowledge of how much I won't have time for. Get into a hurry, Robin. It's been my experience that people don't regret the things they actually did. Even if they didn't go well, they took their shot. It's the things you let slide until it's too late that will kill you. No one ever laid on his death bed wailing, "If only I'd spent more time at the office!"

*Giggles* Well, if ya'll (yes, I'm southern, we say ya'll) could tell me the magic formula to getting B.E. Wilson just enough attention so that his book stands on it's own by reputation only, I'd have more time for mine. *grin* I know, no easy button for storytellers and writers. :-) But, in all seriousness, I will someday but I have higher priorities right now. I really believe in him and want to do my part to help before I focus on mine. Even John said he was distracted by girls for a bit. lol
I'm a pitbull when it comes to accomplishing goals so you can bet, it's just on hold, not forgotten.
Huggles Jack and John for encouraging me! It is not wasted effort I promise. Now.. go buy Highway to the Stars: The Beginning and help me get done faster. hehehe
Highway to the Stars: The Beginning
Hi Phoenix, welcome! Horses are beautiful creatures. I've had the pleasure of owning two in my lifetime.
Hi, my name's Marcus and I have written three books. One about a special forces trained combat wizard, one about the Beast, and one about the lost city of Atlantis.I am currently going to school full time to be a Physical Therapists Assistant and find it hard to find the time to write.
I know my books are good, just need that "One shot" we are all looking for.
Hello! My name is John, first-time non-fiction history author that was lucky enough to have his book picked up by a small regional publisher this year. I'm still learning the ropes but it's been fun so far. My Main interests are non-fiction Maritime history. I'm still trying getting the hang of GoodReads.
