Oh! You saw it on my website. The only one published is The Empire. I am currently working on The Rebels. Good news is that my publisher has expressed interest in all three.

A. Mcginley (amcginley) | 5 comments Hello Vincent and Group. I am A. McGinley (Arlene) from Bucks County, PA and I wrote one book. It was published and released a few months ago. It took me twenty years to write and get it together. It is not easy to put your life out there for all to see, but as my time on earth grows shorter, I felt it important to have my story available for others after I am gone. I have been sharing my life journey at retreats/seminars for many years and also privately on Internet groups. My book, "Attic Alone - An Ex Jehovah's Witness Finds the Church," has helped and will help people who left or are leaving the Witnesses and/or other high-control groups. It helps the family, friends and neighbors to understand and give support to them. My book is available in bookstores and on the Internet. Amazon.com has had the lower price and it is available on Kindle. I read one book a week usually and I like almost everything, but especially mystery/detective stories. James Patterson is one of my favorites and I wrote in his style, using short chapters. I find that is good for people like me who like to finish a chapter before they need to jump up and do something else. I look forward to reading everything the group talks about.

Lavada Dee (lavadadee) | 42 comments Hi Arlene, I'm new to this group myself. I'm a fan of James Patterson and like the short chapter style he writes in though I don't do them myself. I do write shorter chapters, just not the one or two pages like he does.

Sara Mcgoodwin (romancegoddess) Hey Lavada,

I like your JaNo idea. I was going to do that after writing my first 58,000 words in November. I've been playing catch up on all the things I put off for the month of November and my JaNo is turning into a Feno or even (heaven forbid!) MaNo!

message 758: by Lavada (new)

Lavada Dee (lavadadee) | 42 comments Sara, This is my first experience with a NaNo type challenge. I'm finding it's working at least so far. Not sure when I get to the edit stage but right now I'm at 20,674 at day 14. Great going with 58,000 in November. I'll be happy with the 50,000.

Thanks for the support. Much appreciated :)

Frank (fjswrites) | 3 comments Hi, my name is Frank Scully and I am an author.

My new mystery novel, Resurrection Garden, is now available as an eBook from the publisher, MuseItUp Publishing or on Amazon and other online booksellers.

It is a story set in 1904 North Dakota during the settling of the prairie by homesteaders. Jake Turner, a man with a reputation he would like to bury, is a target for ruthless killers trying to stop him from solving a murder. And that's the least of his problems.

Please give it a look. If you like a bit of history and romance along with your suspense and mystery I think you will like it.

Mike Dennis (mikedennis) | 11 comments Thanks for setting this up, Vincent. It's a great way to bring readers and authors together.

I'm Mike Dennis, crime/noir fiction author from Key West. My current novel, THE TAKE, published by L&L Dreamspell, is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble online, Fictionwise, and AllRomance. A brief description follows:

<THE TAKE is a fast-paced, nerve-jangling ride.>>

Have a look at my website: http://mikedennisnoir.com and you can find excerpts from THE TAKE as well as from my next novel, THE GHOSTS OF HAVANA.

I'm also a reader, of course, and I love to read the same kind of material I write: noir and crime fiction. I just finished MY GUN IS QUICK by Mickey Spillane (which I reviewed on my website) and I'm now reading TRIPWIRE by Lee Child.

F.J. Hansen (fjhansen) | 26 comments Greetings.

Franz here. I've been writing science fiction since 1997, when I was 11 years old. For nearly 10 years, I've been trying to get published. A goal that I finally achieved 3 years ago with an essay commemorating the 40th anniversary of Anne McCaffrey's Pern series. Then, last year, I published my first actual book, Draconia: Forging Trust.

I also enjoy reading, as any good author should. I read science fiction mainly, as well as some fantasy.

Robert Morrow (robertmorrow) Hello. I'm Robert Morrow, author of Ringing True, a recently published novel that I believe falls under the category of "contemporary fiction". Under another name I have published a non-fiction work and some poetry; under still another name I am the songwriter and lead singer for Acoustic Disturbance. I live in the Seattle area, work in the field of organizational and human development and play as much as I can.

I don't read much fiction because I want to avoid influence, but I will read fiction in genres where I have no talent (historical, sci-fi, fantasy, etc.). My reading list is usually filled with history, political history, biography and baseball.

I love people, so I spend most of my free time in contact with the human race. Only in the mornings do I demand solitude as I am a very unpleasant, grumpy individual before ten. Much to my delight, I found the writing of Ringing True to be energizing rather than enervating, for while I was physically alone, the characters proved to be good company.

I have a passion for helping people learn and grow, so if anyone wants help with anything, feel free to contact me. I never attach strings to this offer.

Dana Davis (danadavis) | 5 comments Hello, everyone. My name is Dana Davis. I'm an award-winning author of fantasy and science fiction, a bestselling author, and a ghost buster. I'm currently under contract with SynergEbooks Publishing, and my 9th novel is scheduled for release in Spring 2011.

I spent my youth in the entertainment industry (you can catch me in various episodes of Rags to Riches and some very bad movies and cable shows that shall remain unnamed). I also have a passion for the paranormal and belong to a team that investigates ghosts and other out-of-the-ordinary occurrences. Some of my experiences tend to find their way into my writing, especially the Desert Magick series.

My home is Los Angeles but right now I'm living in the Arizona desert with my husband and two insane birds. When I'm not working, I love to travel, read, hike, play video games, and hunt down those elusive ancestors for my family tree. For more about me and my work, please visit http://www.danadaviswriting.com

Jason Tesar | 12 comments Hey all,

My name is Jason Tesar. Among other responsibilities, I write technical documentation for the microelectronics industry.

As far as reading, I enjoy fantasy, sci-fi, and military fiction.

Over ten years ago, I decided to start writing the fictional story that had been rattling around in my brain since I was a teenager. The amount of time I dedicated to writing was small at first, but grew as I got deeper into my story. Last October I published my first novel and now I'm in the research and planning stage for a prequel.

So ... just finish it. Wishing you the best.

Took me 10 years to finish my first collection of short stories. I would work like hell for a few weeks, then ignore for a few months. Tear stories apart, put them back together, rip them up again and get very frustrated. But I knew I had to finish it.

I've started a few novels but yet to finish one. That's next on my agenda -- along with a soundtrack. A tall order, but I look forward to the challenge. Most important is to have an outline/plan and not just jump into things, which I've tried before and had no luck with.

Keep moving forward and you'll get there!

I can relate to this so well. I have reams of novel openings tucked away. It took me 10 years to complete The Legacy of Alice Waters http://tinyurl.com/2845q5c. You have to just keep going and get your writing out there. Yesterday I discovered my novel is voted 3rd last month on kindle and goes forward to be voted for as what to read in February: http://littleurl.info/8un. It's spurred me on to focus on number 2. Martha (m7c57) Hello,

I am Martha just joining this group. I have been a member for a little while but never had a chance to read about all the goodies. It will take me several days to check it all out. I do not write books but wished I was talented enough to write books as well as reading books. I read mostly on rainy or cold days. Jeff | 8 comments Hey!

I run my own graphic design/web development business with clients located around the country. I graduated with degrees in Economics and Graphic Design/Illustration and minors in Management and English. I've lived in Idaho, Utah, Arizona, and Brazil.

I've always loved reading, especially science fiction. With the advent of eBooks, I've even started publishing my own titles, something I've always wanted to do but never thought I'd be able to do.

Some of my favorite authors include Orson Scott Card, Charles Sheffield, John Grisham, Stephen Gould, Gary K. Wolf, and Duane Swierczynski.

And I think the Kindle is the greatest invention since electricity. It has literally rekindled my love of reading and given me access to so many new stories I never knew existed.

message 797: by Raymond (new)

Raymond Spitzer (pima2945) My name is Raymond L. Spitzer. I have been an avid reader of science fiction, mystery, historical fiction, and LDS church literature for many years. In high school I determined I wanted to be a writer. I collected rejection slips even though I majored in English and creative writing. I continued writing after becoming a high school teacher but found the creative juices dried up due to the demands of my job. After becoming a public safety telecommunicator I found my thoughts increasingly going to a gentle mystery story. I developed the idea over the next decade until I was satisfied with it. I actually completed the novel and submitted it. After only two rejections it was accepted by WiDo Publishing. The rewriting process is now done and it is scheduled to be published in February or March of 2011. It is called Arizona Guy, and is the first of a projected series of gentle mysteries set in Ajo, Arizona. There is an understated spiritual element that sets it apart from most mysteries. I had never heard of GoodReads until WiDo recommended it. This seems like a neat website!
