Hi. I'm an independent author from Toronto and have published my first series "A Prayer Series". My first book, "A Silent Prayer" is the winner of best romance in 2014 Los Angeles Book Festival and Paris Book Festival". I'm looking for honest readers and reviewers who are looking for a new contemporary romance with a punch of paranormal and would like to expand my reader's circle. Thanks!
My name is Davon Washington and I am a new author. I have made a career of connecting with "consumers" for entertainment purposes. I have always been the creative force behind the acclaimed "creators" of works in other forms of entertainment. It's been my dream to write and I have made that a reality with "Jack the Boogey is My Real Name". I do believe by vindicating the "Boogeyman" I will teach young children a couple of valuable lessons and give them an amazing character to love at the same time. I have a pretty busy schedule but will try my best to answer as many questions/requests as I can in regards to my work. Thank you for welcoming me into this amazing community. Congratulations on your upcoming book release! Jack the Boogey is My Real Name looks like a winner! I love the concept and the illustrations! What is the age range of readers for this? If a child is very young and has never heard of the Boogeyman (yet old enough to enjoy imaginative tales) will he still intuitively understand and benefit from this story?

Great to meet you Jeanne! That is a great question and I'm glad you asked it for other readers/parents who may have the same curiosity.
The story does not rely on a previous encounter with The Boogeyman to capture the reader,it helps but it isn't necessary. The book is for children 3-8 so ironically OUR encounter with the boogeyman will (hopefully) intrigue adults who will be the ones introducing the entire concept to the child. Imagine a child who has never heard of the Boogeyman. That parent now has the ability to create the context by telling the child that he was something that they feared as a child and as the reader progresses the child will develop a greater empathy for Jack since mommy and daddy's generation gave this wonderful, loveable character such a bad reputation. I will preview a couple excerpts in a few weeks. Thanks again!!!

Hi everyone! My names Kyle Scott. I'm a horror author and something of a genre obsessive. Aside from writing horror fiction, I run my own blog - reviewing and editorialize on all thing horror - called The Horror Hotel.
Looking forward to getting to know the group. I always find it extremely inspiring discussing the genre with like-minded fans, as there are few communities more caring, intelligent and passionate than those which horror inspires.
Now for some influences...
From a literary standpoint, my work is my play. The authors I read are both a source of inspiration and a passion that I really can't get enough of.
I could list many, but to give an idea of my influences, here's a small list :
Richard Laymon
Brian Keene
Bentley Little
Jeff Strand
Blake Crouch
Jack Kilborn
Edward Lee
Joe Hill
J F Gonzalez
My first release is called Consumed: Volume 1, and is a horror anthology looking at the dark side of our consumer society via black humor, hardcore horror and social satire.
I'm currently working on my first full length novel, which will be released in late June.
Anyway. It's lovely to meet you all.
Looking forward to participating in the the group!

For now, it's all about subsets of Fantasy, 'urban' 'dark' 'heroic' etc but with a heavy dose of character driven and romantic elements mixed in. That said, I'm so 'fresh and shiny' relevant to the authoring/book reading world that I'm sure I'll be crossing the genre boundaries pretty soon :) Thanx for asking!

Hello everyone. I'm Janet Martinez (Jan) and I've just joined Goodreads. I'm delighted to find an authors group and look forward to meeting all of you. I'm a teacher and may not be here as much as I'd like until school lets out (next Friday). I write mysteries/thrillers and I'm working on a fantasy about teaching -- all the students in class behave themselves and study and make A's. Definitely a fantasy! I'm looking forward to getting advice and tips from everyone.
Thank you!

Kate wrote: "Thank you!:) what are you working on in your writing career?:)"I'm currently working on a story called 'Jinx And The Faerie Dragons' about a pixie and his faerie dragon friends who go looking for treasure in a cave, only to find themselves running in to goblins and needing to find a way to escape. It's taken a bit longer than planned because I put it on hold to write a story for a collection with some other self-published authors (via another group I'm a member of here on Goodreads) and then got busy with interviews and guest posts last month.

I hope to see your name in the winners' list one of these years. One of this year's winners is Liz Colter. I don't know if you've read any of her work, but I think you might enjoy her story "The Clouds in Her Eyes." It was very thought-provoking. I write also, but haven't tried SciFi yet.

An avid reader I have been writing for some years for others but am just revving myself up for some creative writing of my own.
